I had a great experience at this store. I stepped out of Camden Town station and was greeted by the guy holding the sign who walked me to the store who had a lot of knowledge about the company. stepping inside you are surrounded by wall to wall boots (great for any boot fan). The two guys working there are extremely knowledgable about types of leather, sizing and history of everything they sell. I was served promptly and was amazed at the quality of these boots. You can't find these boots anywhere else, the ones you get from the Dr Martens shops these days cannot compete, the leather is plasticy the sole is see through and the sizing is too short. The boots I got at this store are far superior, the leather is genuine, the sole is more solid and the sizing is accurate. Will definitely buy again from this company.

Exceptional service - made an email enquiry on Saturday evening, got a reply almost immediately, which was quite unexpected as didn't expect a reply until Monday at earliest. Phoned shop Sunday morning, they checked stock, phoned me back good despatched by courier Monday and received Tuesday. Delighted with purchase.

The owner promises the Earth but does not honour the agreements he makes. He will even lie to get out of them. Untrustworthy, disappointing AND a total bl**dy waste of people's time.

PLEASE BE AWARE this shop does not offer refund under any circumstances even if it's for their fault. I was refused refund of a pair of shoes which didn't match the description, despite the fact they made mistake handling it. When went into a shop, I felt the owner of this shop has been physically threatening, raising his voice, forcing me to take back the goods. They have also made some racist remarks about Japanese, calling me Jap (which I overheard when I rang them). I've contacted the relating authority to deal with them. Loads of stress. Please stay away from this nasty retailer if you want a stress free shopping, and someone ought to teach them how to address others in a civilised manner. BEST AVOIDED.

I regret even walking into this store. The staff member did not stop talking and seemed angry, agitated and desperate. Most of it was rubbish: his store is the only store worth buying from, the main Doctor Martens shop is a chain, many products are "exclusive" to his store (untrue) the prices are inflated in the chain shops (again, untrue) etc He was a very intimidating, overbearing man who behaved aggressively towards his customers and other staff. Avoid - there are lots of other places in Camden that will let you browse in peace and let you try on boots/ shoes and come to your own decision without bullying sales tactics. I will never go back there and I will advise anyone i know to go elsewhere.

Have a very good range of unusual shoes/boots that you can't get elsewhere, however very dear unreliable, will only buy if I've seen the specific pair in the shop, manager has an excellent line in the brown stuff!

I recently visited the shop with my two kids on a day trip to London. Shoe shopping for mum isn't their favourite experience, but what a difference the shop makes to that!!! The staff were great with the kids, keeping them entertained, whilst at the same time helping me with the task in hand .. a pair of vintage dms that I hadn't seen anywhere else. We all came away happy, with not one argument!! Definitely taking them back there!!

Overpriced DM boots which you can find at much better prices in many places. Just walk around nearby Camden shops or go online. Prices quoted in store often inflated. Solovair boots overpriced although much harder to find elsewhere than DM's. Check their web-site before going in store so you have online prices to hand. Read reviews of online service before ordering. Store staff or manager overbearing and too 'in-your-face'. Non-stop talking to get you to buy something and not ask too many questions. Very small shop - has not been renovated or decorated in years, quirky and interesting but you cannot browse without salesman watching everything you are doing and commenting. Tons of different styles some of which you might not get anywhere else so if there is something you really like and can only get here you will just have to pay whatever it is. Forewarned is forearmed.

Went in to buy some doc martens, staff were swearing at customers, making racist remarks. We're not helpful in the slightest. I was not happy with the service at all. Shoes are also way overpriced.

I ve ordered a pair of doc marteens at britishboots.co.uk on january the 23th. More than one month later i still haven't received anything. I wrotte several emails to ask news but they only answered me when i threatened them to ask to paypal to bring my money back. They told me that my order "should have been sent" at the beginning of february but i never received anything and they never tryed to help me or to keep me informed on the situation. Who am i am to be despised by a such compagny when i ve payed them 208 pounds to get my shoes???? Everyone should avoid ordereing there!

Just purchased for my wife, was unsure because of two or three reviews, however, recieved invoice via paypal, paid same night, dispatched following day and delivered day after via interlink. First class service, price, quality, a pleasure to deal with.

I Ordered a pair of vintage Dr Martens boots from Britboot online about a month ago. I then received an email telling me that the boots would be delivered to my home the next day. This was true, as they arrived the next morning, complete in an Original Dr Martens shoebox, with a Dr Martens bag and leaflet, the package also included the shoe polish also ordered and the boots were perfect. Brilliant customer service, brilliant boots. Can't wait to buy my next pair!

First order I placed with britboot company never materialised - goods were not in stock. Second order had been delivered to billing address rather then delivery address - even though I paid for international delivery. Third and final order I placed almost a month ago. I had order confirmation email, money had been taken from my account and that was the last I have heard. Trying to call them is not very useful as they just keep repeating that their internet shop is separate from their shop and that they can't even view my order.I have sent an email a week ago inquiring about my goods and received a reply "we will investigate". This is simply an appalling service. No communicatio, no explanation and no real effort no resolve this. I think I will get onto my bank next to dispute and trading standards straight afterwards. Please beware - find a better ways to spend your money!

Hello everybody, Foremost, sorry for my bad english, i'm not english, but i just hope that people could understand my message and won't have the same problem as i had with this shop. Few months ago, when i was visiting London with friends, i bought in this shop my solovair 165 pounds. I asked the price twice and I was told that it is this price. Then, when i returned in France, at home, i searched the shoes i bought on their site and i saw that the price i paid was wrong: i paid 165 pounds and not 145 pounds as written on their site, for exactly the same model of shoes. Thinking that it was perhaps an error, i wrote them several emails with the help of my english friend, and... I waited for a long time: no response. So, my english friend called them, and they finally told that the price written on their site was wrong, that the price I paid is ok, and... that's all, even i showed the proofs!!! And they very quickly deleted the reference i bought from their site just after my friend's phone call. Very strange, no? Before knowing this, I expected to buy several pairs of boots in this shop later, but now, it is sure, I won't buy this sort of shoes from their shop, I'm very disappointed after all that. About the shoes i bought (solovair), i can't really judge, it is too soon. Advice: Save your money and look at their prices on their website before buying something in this shop. Also, be careful, do not to buy Dr martens shoes, they are very bad and have not the same quality as years ago (made in China, Thailand...)

How difficult is it to put a pair of shoes in a box, put the appropriate address on the box and ship it to said address by courier? Not difficult, but obviously far too difficult for Britboot. A month and a half has gone by and still no sign of my order. Emails have been sent, which occasionally get replied to but the result remains the same. No tracking number is given, no explanation is provided. Calling the shop doesn't help as all they tell you is to contact customer services by email. Although they did tell me that the shoes were in stock - in which case, WHERE ARE MY SHOES? To be fair, I have previously used Britboot with no problems at all, in fact they were brilliant in sorting out a replacement pair when I ordered the wrong size. But, unfortunately, the only way to know how good a company is is when things go wrong - and in this instance Britboot have been sorely lacking. Other companies seem to be able to organise next day delivery, so,why not Britboot? If it's a problem with the courier, then change your courier service! If you want a fantastic pair of shoes that only Britboot seem to supply, then please take this advice -travel to buy in-store as it will save you a lot of grief and is the only way you can guarantee to get your hands on the item that you've exchange your hard earned cash for. I know that next time I will be following my own advice.

I have just made my second online purchase with the British Boot Company and am one satisfied customer. The product might appear to be expensive, but they are apparently hand-made and are definitely of the highest quality and are therefore, very good value for money.
This company (much like that other BBC) is an absolute British institution! As an expat living 12,000 miles away in NZ, it's great to be able to purchase items that remind me of my roots.
I have also found them to be quick to communicate, being very responsive and helpful, too boot ('scuse the pun!).
So to all you Brit expats and good people who think "Cool Britannia", I strongly recommend you check out the products on offer at the British Boot Company. Enjoy! :o)

Bought a pair of George Cox from British Boot Company back in 2005. Have since bought 2 additional pairs online from their website. Both arrived quickly and were sent with appropriate service with tracking number.
The shoes are of fantastic quality and the selection is unrivaled. Also I think the online service is really good, the shop staff is also very knowledgeable about the shoes they are selling, etc.
The prices are good too, handmade specialist stuff - all made in England - you can't go wrong!

I've been so appalled by the service I received from the British Boot Company that I felt compelled to warn others off! Long story short (because the full saga would be a weighty tome filled with great woe and gnashing of teeth), I ordered and paid for a pair of boots in store to be delivered to my home, they never arrived, I have yet to receive my money back. I've spent the last month and a half making phone calls to the British Boot Company to no avail. I've spoken to various staff members, who, while generally pleasant on the phone, have fed me a stream of misinformation, whether through a series of highly unlikely and unfortunate events, or through a desire to mislead, who can say. I have no boots, although apparently my cheque is 'in the post'. Unregistered and untrackable, naturally.
Maybe a combination of general incompetence and a series of highly suspect courier mix ups is responsible for the situation. Regardless, the end result is that I have no boots, no money and the suspicion that I was misled and mocked every time I rang. I hold out little hope that a cheque will ever arrive, and am forced to consider reclaiming the money through the governments online money claim service.
The British Boot Company has a good range of boots. If you can walk in to the shop, find something you like and walk out clutching it tightly it's probably as good a shop as any. But I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole for internet or instore orders.

just a quick update. After calling the store and them refusing to talk to me or even look at my order, they finally refunded the money. I was told "they were looking after my boots" - I guess they needed looking after before they went to a good home ;-). Found a cheaper website - so given them a go. We shall see what happens - fingers crossed
