“Corfu July 2018”

★★☆☆☆

written by JeanBalloch on 15/07/2018

Booked holiday online and found it difficult to speak to anyone about my queries. The website was inaccurate about numbers and did not change after I had completed booking. I thought that the holiday was for a group of 12 but there were only 6 and another man having a second week. In fact, he told us that on the previous week there had only been three participants and one of them left early. When I arrived at Edinburgh airport, the check-in was problematic because my middle name and surname had been joined together. On arrival in Corfu, I was handed the welcome pack which included several errors with my name. Despite being a lady, I was titled MR and although my first name was correct, my second name was male. Fortunately I travelled with another lady to the resort but the rep did not greet us until the next day. This meant it was difficult to identify who was actually in the group. Having enjoyed a lively and well supported holiday the previous year with Friendship Travel, I was very disappointed in the lack of arrangements. The hotel was clean and staff pleasant. The entertainment could have been improved with more disco music. The meals were average and lacked fish options.Having said that, the other participants were good fun and a nice bunch of people. I will not use the company again.

“Couldn't care less solitair”

★★☆☆☆

written by Jazmynn99 on 06/08/2016

I have recently returned from a holiday in Sardinia and have to say I enjoyed the holiday immensely. I would recommend Sardinia to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location, it's a stunning island and our hotel was lovely, just across the road from an idyllic beach. We also had a brilliant rep who was at the hotel twice a day and even gave up his day off to take us on a walking tour of Alghero. Solitair, however, need to seriously improve their customer service skills. I had read all the scathing reviews online but as it was a late booking and there wasn't much availability elsewhere, decided to book with them anyway. The staff I dealt with when booking were offhand to say the least and I was supposed to receive a booking confirmation within 24 hours which didn't arrive. It took 2 emails and a phone call before I eventually got it, no apology, just a general couldn't care less attitude. As I was leaving within 2 weeks I asked them f they could let me know the airline I was on so I would know which terminal I was travelling from in order to book a car park. For some reason the lady I spoke to wouldn't give me that information and became quite aggressive on the phone, I had to check the airport departures to get the information I needed. They also lied about the numbers booked on the holiday, saying there were nine others when in fact there were six including myself, apparently they do this all the time to encourage bookings. I travelled from Manchester and had to pay a supplement of 187 pounds, there were 2 other ladies in the group on the same flight who paid 136 and 99 pounds. When I enquired about this on returning home, my first two emails were completely ignored, after sending a third, I received a dismissive and abrupt reply. I have spoken to quite a few people since I got back who have experienced the same couldn't care less attitude from Solitair. Luckily I didn't have any major problems I would have needed their help with but I won't be using them again, there are numerous other companies out there who care about their customers and actually know the meaning of customer service.

Interesting - I've just booked a holiday with them and noone is answering my emails. Wish I'd read your review before booking. Glad the holiday itself was ok.

“Solitair - Customer Service - what Customer Service?”

★★☆☆☆

written by ekCoffey307 on 16/01/2015

I booked a holiday with Solitair for a 4* hotel all inclusive holiday in Agadir. Before I travelled I did some research on the hotel to find some pretty awful reviews and that the hotel was not 4*(yes, I should have checked the hotel out before I travelled but took the 4* rating of the hotel as on Solitair's website to be accurate - as they say they have 15 years experience! I wrote to Customer Services to let them know of my concerns and to ask them how the qualified the hotel as 4* as one of my questions. Did not answer, had to repeatedly chase for a response and did get a response which did not answer the specifics. On return I have shared with them my feedback on the hotel and asked them for a holiday questionnaire 3 times now to complete - no response and no acknowledgment of my feedback. I am not asking for a refund - just that they sell a holiday correctly that is 4* as in my view this holiday is mis-sold and is 2.5*. I was also interested to hear of the 9 who had booked this holiday, 3 were booked on other holidays and Solitair cancelled due to small numbers and moved them to this holiday and they had to pay more money!. I would not travel with this company ever again due to their poor customer service.

“Two weeks before I was due to travel to Kos with...”

★★☆☆☆

written by najllib2 on 10/10/2014

Two weeks before I was due to travel to Kos with Solitair they emailed me to say that the fight had been delayed to the following day. No explanation. That meant I had to change the dog sitters for my dogs, change the insurance dates and change my Gatwich hotel booking. Fortunately I had bought a flexible booking so could change this to the next day. If I hadn't, I would have had to pay the full cost of another night. Solitair would never care about extra costs incurred by a client. Now we come to the holiday itself. The Mammis Hotel is a 21 bedroomed hotel overlooking the sea about 30 minutes walk from town. At first glance it is quite attractive but the rooms are very basic and I had very thin curtains on my windows so that the sun woke me up at 5 every morning. My full report on the hotel can be seen on Trip Advisor. We were met at the airport by the Solitair rep and we met her once again at the airport when we left. No visits during our stay. The Solitair brochure promised us a bbq meal but none was forth-coming. When I returned home I emailed a long list of complaints about the hotel, in particular, that we had no hot water on the 2 days that the sun didn't shine (the hotel owner didn't want to use back up electric heating) and that he wanted €100 for courtesy rooms on the day of departure (even though the hotel was nearly empty). Solitair had not had the courtesy to reply which is a disgrace. I will certainly not use them again.

“Unprofessional, hidden truths, poor service”

★★☆☆☆

written by jma2608 on 02/09/2014

I did use the company two years ago and had a great time in Ischia, this year decided to use them again. Booked a week in Symi, made the booking for September 2014 back in December last year!! Two months before departure I was informed that the hotel was overbooked so I'd need to change the date, after much thought decided to go a week later. Now am travelling on the 18th September, however have just been sent my e.ticket and the flight times have changed to much later outbound and inbound flights. In fact the return flight lands just before midnight now where it was 7 in the evening. Terminal for flights also has been changed. Very inconvenient with just three weeks to go. I sent an email asking them to contact me and heard nothing, I called their office and was basically told its tough we can change times by up to 6 hours and there's nothing you can do. The flight now departs from North terminal at Gatwick I've booked parking for south terminal !!! the fact airline and flight times have been changed also means I need to pay for another days parking. I've have asked for someone to call me again still no response... Very unhappy and very dubious as to how the holiday will pan out now. Upset because I was not told in July when the hotel was overbooked that flight times had changed, if I'd known I would at least have been able to reconsider my options. I'll be lucky to get home on my return until 2 in the morning and then have to go to work that same morning! Certainly won't use Solitair again and don't recommend you to either!!!

Have people to any positive experiences travelling with Solitair? I am looking for a singles holidays with people my age group - I am 44 years. I was thinking of going with Solitair to Tenerife, staying in the Diver Hotel this August 2017. The hotel seems so nice and the excursions seemed lovely. But I have not read any positive reviews from people who have travelled with solitaire. Are there other single holidays you would recommend, please?

Take the Plunge and travel alone.I was like you and in your position around 7 years ago.Too nervous to travel alone, did not know what to expect. My first holiday travelling alone was to Gambia.I loved it.Locals were friendly.I stayed in a boutique Hotel.I signed up for the excursions and had many conversations with other people on holiday. I have been to Cyprus,Turkey,Malta,Spain,Gran Caneria,Futuventura on my own and I loved each and every one of those holidays.Trust me you will be fine travelling on your own.I find with these single holiday companies the prices are extortionate and cost far too much compared to what you would pay if you were to go it alone yourself.I am a 45 year old woman and I am already planning my next holiday.Go on take the plunge and do it.Once you do it the first time you will wonder what all the worry was about in the first place.Good luck with your future holiday.

I went to Cuba last year with Solitair and will never use them again. Unfortunately I didn't do any reach into the company as it was the first time I had used a singles company. I never thought that a travel agent would take my money and then just dump me without any support or help from Solitair when I landed at Havana airport. I also met 3 other women on the same holiday that had booked through Solitiar. They also had a bad experience with the company. Whatever you do do not hand money over as you will never see it again and don't be taken in by their marketing ploys. I have heard Just You and Solo are very good. Please do your homework when booking with any travel agent or singles company. Enjoy your holiday
