Service4Service picks-up your car to check at a local garage. But they charge in 100s for pickup and diagnose and triple of actual cost of maintenance.

“AVOID AVOID AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BryceFigueroa on 27/01/2019

Warning! Danger Alert! WARNING! This company will take your money. UPDATE: No apology has been issued as at 27.1.19, no explanation for up to 300% mark up on prices. In fact the Sales Manager and Managing Director have tried to convince me that they are quote "mature family men", that the service advisor was once a mechanic for Mercedes - might be true, BUT HE WAS NOT WORKING ON MY CAR! And IS paid commission to upsell work - just google Service 4 Service jobs and see what their role is. Sales Manager and MD have basically said they can charge what they like, only employ mature men and if I fell for it and paid, that's my problem not theirs. This is now going forward as a complaint with Which, Consumer Helpline and Trading Standards - who have all been very helpful. My advise is to use Halfords if you'd like 4 months to pay for repairs - they work out at 150% cheaper AND have ethics, or just go to your own dealer - still 100% cheaper than these greasy people. Original review (and it only gets worse) below: Under NO circumstances should you use this outfit - they will seem pleasant at first, and then proceed to treat you badly, mark up retail prices by over 100% AND then add VAT. They will add extra work that does not need to be done and their service advisors will pose as mechanics (eg: this, said to me): "well are you a mechanic? Is your friend? No? Well I am a fully qualified mechanic and I am the one who can see whats in your car!" Um no, you cant, you are miles away up North, in a call centre - being paid commission to upsell you and mislead people into having work done that they dont need. After I complained (CHECK EVERYTHING THEY QUOTE YOU!), things *suddenly* started going wrong with car - expensive things! that had not been picked up before and I know were not there as I photographed my car in full before hand over. I dont know motors but I know dishonesty and I am not the fool they clearly assumed I would be. I asked for all work to be stopped on my car and have laid a complaint with Consumer Helpline who have reported to Trading Standards who have both been very helpful. The Sales Manager *says* he is looking into this, says all calls are recorded and says he will come back to me - so lets see what they come up with - I sense this will be dragged out but I have no problem taking these guys on with the help of the right channels. I will keep this review updated, but thought best post now to hopefully help you avoid being fleeced.

Got to ask got a quote from them they wanted a deposit that I paid and to I could have 12 interest free to pay the rest so I said yes now the work is done they have put off my car being returned now saying I need to apply for finance that was declined die to my situation and are holding my car ransom surely finance should have been agreed before the work was undertaken?

Go to Consumer Helpline or ring CAB. Log a complaint. These guys are next level devious - their modus is to fleece you. The more complaints laid against them the better.

Nope they do this to trap you. I tried 4 seperate finances and all declined I wouldn’t be suprised if it’s purposely declined so they can keep your car and charge you the daily fee. I was also originally quoted 1600-3600 at the maximum over the phone. Once they had my car quoted me 5500 lol or 900 for them to bring my car back. Absolute joke.

“I don't reccomend”

written by Andrei1988 on 28/11/2018

They tell you a price and after you send the car to them they give you another price. I had a bad idea to chose them, they sent my car to a service and after they kept my car 5 weeks they cannot re-soft the gearbox and they ask me for a new mechatronic unit £3000 plus VAT. The labour for remove the gearbox £800 plus VAT and to rebuild the gearbox another £840 plus VAT incredible (£2000 only for labour I have the proof).

I wouldn’t use them, they had my car for 3weeks said it was the timing belt, did no work and wanted £280 when I said I wanted my
car back because nothing was getting done .

“Very Disappointed!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Andersonr303 on 03/03/2017

I had my car serviced by Service4Service last year and was very happy with the overall customer service. I had a small problem regarding them updating Land rover online service history but I believe this was a fault of the website and not Service4 Service. This year I thought I would use the company again but the whole experience was very different. I received two separate confirmation emails with two different dates for my service. I called three times to try to get someone to confirm the date and each time told I would be called back in 5 minutes but never was. When the men arrived to collect my car I wasn't expecting them as I hadn't had a notification regarding collection. Later that day I received a call telling me the extras that were advised but I would have to wait until the next day as they didn't have the parts required. I told the lady on the phone not to carry out the extra work as I needed my car early the following morning as I had a very busy day. I then made the payment in full for the full service. I waited for the return of my car that evening but it didn't arrive. No email, no call nothing. I telephoned the company to get an answerphone message saying the offices were now closed. I emailed telling someone to contact me asap as I needed my car early. At 8:19 the following morning, I had to call to find out where my car was, I was told they would call me back in 5 minutes! No call back again so at 9:55 I called again and was told my car would be with me shortly. It arrived after 10am filthy dirty as it seemed they hadn't had time to wash it although keeping it an extra 16 hours. A pathetic attempt at compensation was made which involved a small discount next time I used their service.

“Incapable of contacting me with a quote ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Diya192 on 15/02/2017

I have requested a quote on several occasions, being the first one about two months ago, and the most I have received was an e-mail from one employee saying: "Thank you for your enquiry, Sorry for the delay in responding. Can we still help you with your vehicle issues?" It looked like they didn't even bother reading my message... I responded saying that they certainly can help me sending me a quote and after two more weeks I'm still waiting for them to get back to me... In the meantime they are bombarding me with promotional e-mails saying how great customer service they have and great services they offer... which I find really ironic. They are very informal, and if they are like this just for sending a quote for a standard cambelt change I don't want to ever imagine how would they be if you have to claim against a work badly done (warranty), etc

“Dodgy service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rice486 on 17/01/2017

I've used them to do an interim service and as a part of this they have replaced my front brakes for a significant amount. As soon as they did it the cars breaks started producing the squeaking noise. I thought it was because the break pads are new but after returning the car for additional inspection I was told it was the back breaks now which had no problems before. What I don't understand is why did the breakpads at the back start squeaking immediately after their service? No one could answer this question for me. Wouldn't recommend to use their service again after that. Dodgy. AVOID.

We have tried to assist this customer to date.

I took my car to an independent car service after your garage said it is the back brakes and they have told me that there is NOTHING wrong with my back brakes and that the noise is definitely coming from the front. AND it never costs as much to replace brakes as it does with your service. Ask any normal garage. So not only you OVERCHARGE people you also employ incompetent garages that use cheap sqeaking breakpads. And by the way you haven't tried to assist me with anything

“Terrible, will never use again”

Car never even got as far as a service centre. Booked my car in via the web received a call to say it had been confirmed, received an e - mail to say it had been confirmed. Booked the day off work for my car to be collected from home. On the day waited from 8am till 09.45am and no sign of collection. Called service4service to be told they would still be coming and the guy I spoke to said he would call me back to confirm. An hour later no call so called back and spoke to someone else only to be told my car had not been booked in and he would gladly re book it at a discounted price. Told him no thanks and that was the end of that, absolutely disgusted!!!!

“untrustworthy, unreliable, unsatisfactory, do not use!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mycoolrose on 21/12/2016

false pretenses, not able to carry out repairs to Chrysler Grand Voyager i made an online search back at the end of October to find garage able to carry out a service on my Chrysler Grand Voyager and Service 4 Service came up. I spoke to them and was assured that they could carry out a full service and mot as required. I needed this as I am going to Italy next week on the 13th December. Booking in at the end of October I thought this gave me plenty of leeway. Service4Service then advised me that I needed brake pads all round, some suspension works and a new brake pipe and the total bill came to some £1250. I paid and they returned the car however when I went to use the car later the automatic gearbox had gone into limp mode. In this mode only 2nd gear, neutral and reverse is available, I informed them of this and also the fact that the new brake pipe they had fitted was leaking and they came and collected the vehicle. After a few days they told me that gearbox solenoid pack was faulty and advised me that the repair costs would come to £1450 plus vat. I was concerned at the added cost of this but because I needed the car which was booked on ferries and due to go down to Italy, actually across to Sardinia and time was running out I asked them to go ahead. I was told that the part had to be ordered in and would be about five days to supply. Then I got an email asking me to pay £700 up front, having just paid them £1250 for the service I did not understand this request and so I phoned them up to discuss it, It took a number of phone calls and about 3 days before anyone came back to me and they advised me that the solenoid pack may not cure the gearbox problem. I asked to speak to a manager and also requested a breakdown of costs and precisely what the fault code/s showing on the diagnostic systems were. another few days went by, and i am now into the second week before some one came back to me. I asked them how the job was progressing as I was quickly running out of time and what was the fault code? I was told that there was no code just a gearbox error. Again I was told that the solenoid pack may not be the only fault and that its replacement would not necessarily cure the problem. I had told then earlier that the gearbox worked very well in "limp" mode and that it was unlikely to be the actual problem more likely the solenoid pack they had diagnosed or even more likely an electrical fault, after all it only failed after they had worked on the vehicle. I then asked how soon was the work going to be carried out and then was informed that after getting the go ahead nearly three weeks ago now they had not even ordered the part. The were obviously worried that this part and the £1450 plus vat bill was not going to cure my car and expressing my severe dissatisfaction [no swearing] they offered to return it back to me. I gladly accepted this and I ordered the spare part at a cost of £200 from an importer up north. It arrived in the post next day and I spent a couple of days both online and under the bonnet and replaced it myself. Guess what it did NOT cure the fault. Again I went back online and this time I bought a diagnostic computer. This told me that there was a fault code, P0888 and that this was a possible relay error, Looking through the various Chrysler information sites I was able to identify the relay and swapping it with an adjacent same type relay I tested the vehicle, Hooray it actually cured the problem and I now have a working car. I am a freelance Air conditioning engineer and had needed a vehicle during the time i was without mine and i spent over £660 pounds in car hire costs, £200 on an unnecessary solenoid pack, a further £160 pounds on diagnostic equipment and many days worrying about how I was going to get my car onto the booked ferries down to Italy. I was a better car mechanic than Service4Service, do yourself a favour and avoid them like the plague, when they told me there was no fault code they had either not actually put a diagnostic computer on the vehicle or they had simply made a guess at the fault, either way i felt they had not told me the truth. They do not know what they are doing and could cost you a lot of money, better to go to the slightly more expensive Dealers who at least will know their own vehicles. Do not use Service4Service they are rubbish! I could tell you a lot more about the terrible waste of time and money but I think you probably get the gist of it.

Update: 5 January 2017

On the 28^th October I searched online for a Chrysler service garage in
the Kingston area and the search returned Service4service.

The banner read “Chrysler service in Kingston upon Thames” it went on to
state “all services are carried out by qualified technicians using
Chrysler diagnostics/computer equipment” their technicians carry out
extensive health checks giving me peace of mind.

Service lights will be reset. Their advert goes on to say “Leave service
4 service to look after your Chrysler!”

There is much more on their web page stating how they can look after my
Chrysler, well they could not look after it, they either did not have
the correct Diagnostic equipment as claimed or they did not know how to
use it.

In my opinion, based on my experience, they were both totally incompetent, unable to
give a correct diagnosis, were prepared to charge me £1498.00 to carry
out a repair that would not have worked, a faulty diagnosis that
unfortunately I accepted and acted upon which led to me spending an
unnecessary £200.00 on a new solenoid pack only to find it was not the
problem.

This led me to purchase my own Diagnostic computer online at a cost of
£168.00 and when used promptly returned a fault code of P0888, this code
points to a faulty solenoid actuator relay which when changed promptly
put the gearbox back into full working order.

On top of all this I had to hire a replacement vehicle at a cost of £660
during the time my vehicle was off the road and finally the actual
replacement relay was purchased for £8.00 off the internet! Yes just
£8.00 to repair my vehicle not the £1498 they were preparing to charge
me without guarantying the repair would work and probably given the
opportunity they would have attempted to change the gearbox all together.

It did cost me in excess of £1000.00, days of worry, my own labour to
repair and you ask me if I want to continue with this revue? I must
certainly do and I am very seriously considering taking them to court
for misrepresentation and costs for their failure to carry out the
diagnosis correctly and as advised and advertised in their web page.
Again I remind you that they were asked for by phone and by email for
the diagnostic fault codes and they stated to me that there was no code
only a “gearbox error”. Whilst they had the car in for service they also
failed to re-set the service lights as stated in their advert, they did
not wash the vehicle as promised, and when they did originally return
the vehicle with it’s new MOT its brakes were still faulty!

P.S. I did manage to drive over a thousand miles each way down to Bosa
in Sardinia and back in this vehicle after MY repairs.

“Didn't return Car! - Left stranded. NO phone call. ”

written by tintin001 on 24/11/2016

This was the first time I have used your service and it was horrible!  Truly horrible. I was left stranded at my office!  The car was not delivered back to me and not even a phone call to let me know.  I had to get my wife to arrange child care to come and get me in the evening. My wife had to go into work late and drop me at work the following day.  My car was still not there! I expressed my displeasure to your office and was told they would call me in 5 minutes to let me know where my car was.  30 minutes later - no call.  I called again and was told it will arrive 'shortly' .  I said I was deeply unhappy with the service and asked for a manager to call me which I was told would happen.  I'm still waiting...... When the car finally arrived the representative from Swanley garage said it was the fault of S4S as they were not given a contact phone number for me.  I then pointed out to the not very bright chap that my number was on the booking form which was in his hand!  He then said they called that number but I did not answer.  Lie after lie. Worst service ever and when I get time I will let my thoughts be known in every way I can. Regards

These guys are really good with last minute repairs in my case. Had a fuel leak and an appointment was made by service for service on my behalf. The highlight was when the garage failed to record my appointment and then service 4 service quickly sorted out another garage that had very good standards and the issue was fixed the same day. Really great job in turning around my experience into a positive one and the work on my car was done to a good standard too. Thank you.
