These Halls Are A Complete Rip-off. Charging Londo
These halls are a complete rip-off. Charging London prices for a very average bristol room.
The internet they provide is equivalent to many connections from the 1990's. Even loading my university's homepage can take upwards of 2-3 minutes sometimes. Downloading blackboard information hours. (This is when the internet doesn't randomly crash for days). Your other option is to pay £5 a week for there "super" service which literally doesn't increase the speed at all, but costs a lot of money.
The rooms are small, the bathroom tiny, with a small shower. My loo was broken for 2.5 months and after what seemed like millions of emails and phone call's they finally came in to fix it. Which ended up in giving me a £60 phone bill due to the rate they charge and the amount of time I spent on the phone to them.
They give you 1 small fridge for 5 people and a freezer the same size. Hob's where one or 2 of the heaters just don't work.
The Staff rarely turn up to work, there have been instances where i haven't seen someone at the front desk for up to a week. Which is frustrating when they never bothered to get a mail box key cut for you so you can't get your mail.
Laundry is a rip-off, the pricing isn't actually that bad on face value. But when you have to wash everything twice and dry everything three times. It starts to add up (Costs me around £10 every time i want to wash some clothes)
On top of all this, if you go to UWE (which is where 90% of the people in the halls go to) you have to buy a bus pass or pay for bus fairs to and from uni. This is either a £270 annual fee or around £2.50 a ride. The bus that takes you also takes a route which 40 minutes to do a bus ride which can be done in 5 minutes max in a car.
There are two other points which makes this place the worst choice of places to stay in bristol. Phoenix Court, which is another Unite building, is cheaper, closer to town, comes with a free bus pass and gym membership and a double bed, compared to the small single in Blenheim. Also right across the road is a building called IQ, which is around the same price as Blenheim court, but you get your own kitchen and double bed too. Fine.
