Bought this smart looking fridge freezer 4 years ago - within a year the drain blocked resulting in water accumulating at bottom of fridge. OH a plumber and has systematically cleared this but very time consuming as getting water trap off back of fridge difficult. He used pipe cleaner, steam cleaner, compressed air, bicarb but every month same problem. Unable to use bottom of fridge and veg baskets. |OH hated doing it so I called a domestic appliance engineer out who said he had no new ideas and to put a tea towel in bottom of fridge to soak up water. Now drain completely blocked and we cannot use the bottom 2 shelves. Paid over £400 for this fridge. Comet not interested because out of guarantee and Prestige do not seem to exist on internet. Do not buy................

freezer temperature climbed to +2 - should be -18. Defrosted it as drainage tube blocked with ice. Worked fine for 24 hours then fridge temperature climbed to +23. Switched off for 48 hours with same result. Common problem apparently. 3 refridgeration engineers refused to touch it as it will only break down again within a short space of time. Comet wanted £125 to repair. Looks good but is heap of junk. DO NOT BUY!! Would liked to have known problems experienced by others before purchase. (unit is less than 3 years old. my old one lasted 15 years)

I purchased this fridge/freezer at a cost of £379.99 from Comet Dirct in June 2008. There is much information on various internet blogs, written by other dissatisfied owners. It would seem that Prestige is Comets own make.

After 22 months of use both the fridge and freezer have failed but not both at the same time.

A letter to Comet resulted in a very unsympathetic response. They think that a 22 month service period is not unreasonable.

I would never buy any Prestige refrigeration product again and most certainly do not recommend them.
