I Had Just Moved To A New Property And Decided Tha
I had just moved to a new property and decided that it was time to revamp my kitchen. What I needed to make this a reality was a change in all the white goods...I hate that Whitegoods, why would you really choose to have anything white in a kitchen ? anyway I was looking for a really modern look, so, I opted to buy either silver or stainless steel, but I had to search hard because if you want anything that isn't coloured white you pay a premium price for it, and I am on a tight budget...aren't we all these days .
Luckily for me , while looking on the internet I noticed that Argos were having a sale, usually Argos sales focus on TV's or childrens toy, but this one was for Kitchen goods.Whooppeee Up to half price off, I Looked and found this FridgeFreezer which I immediately purchased and paid the extra £5.95 for Delivery.
Three days later My Brand new Fridge Freezer was delivered ,Not just to my front door but right to where it was going t have pride of place in My Kitchen.Well thats a good thing I hear you say..not so! It would have been absolutely perfect had all of the packaging been removed, the delivery men were in and out faster than speedy gonzalez.
This proved a huge problem , as not only was the item boxed , it was standing on a wooden palate, the only way to get it out of the box and off the palate was to Physically lift it up...I've often been called a pack horse ( When i load myself up with shopping bags ) and I consider myself quite strong , but little me trying to physically manoeuvre this Huge Fridgefreezer out of the packaing was a complete nightmare !
So Being the little lady...( my hubbies reading this and hes chuckling so hard at the description ,) I waited for the strong man to come home to help me, even with the both of us working at it it took a good 30 minutes to get it out...Finally FridgeFreezer ready, not quite..because of all the lifting and moving it had to stand for a further 3 hours per manufacturers instructions, before we were able to switch it on.
The Fridgemaster MTRF 222
Whats In It ?
The Specifications are as follows :
The Fridge..
The Fridge had a thermostat control dial just inside the right hand side of the unit next to this is an internal light, then there are three adjustable shelves and a salad bin, the fridge door has a bottle storage unit and above it a dairy and egg storage shelf. The gross volume of the Fridge is 132 Litres or 3.2 cubic feet if you want to get really technical .
The Freezer..
The Freezer has 3 seperate Graduating in size baskets, or as I prefer to call them drawers. Each drawer can be used for different food items, in mine I keep all the desserts in the top and smallest drawer, next drawer down I keep all of the frozen vegetables and the largest drawer holds all of the meat. The gross volume of the Freezer is 70 Litres which is 2.4 cubic feet.
You also have the ability to reverse the doors , so that it can be opeed the other way around , reversing the doors is a simple task which involves a screwdriver and a lot of patience.
Cleaning
As with any food surface the inside of a Fridge can carry lots of nasty germs that can cause illness so , once a week take everything out and give it a good clean, the best result is to use a weak solution of bicarbonate of soda on a cloth and then rinse with warm water using a sponge, you can choose to use cleaning sprays but I avoid these as you really don't need yur food tasting of dettol or its like.
Once a month or when the food in the Freezer is at its lowest empty all of the Freezer draws and defrost, make sure you give every draw a good clean and dry thoroughly before placing them back in.

My Opinion...
This FridgeFreezer is a good looking value for money bit of kitchen kit. It fits into designed spaces and the reversible doors are a godsend, the overall capacity inside the fridge allows you to store all your dairy, meats both cooked and raw and salads in different departments reducing the risk of contamination to the food. The integrated light fills the entire of the fridge. The two door holders for bottles which can carry up to 12 litres of milk is a good idea although it could be a bit larger. The three separate drawers in the Freezer and the capacity is large enough to serve a small families needs.
The make isn't a top of the range name but if you are on a tight budget then this is probably the fridge freezer for you, they come in a variety of colours , I opted for the silver,it looks very sleek and fits with the whole ambience of the kitchen , and if I decided to move it to the other side of the room I would use the door reverse facility.I liked this value range fridge freezer so much that I purchased a second one,At £229 it was a bargain. To make the most of this item you really should try to keep it as full as possible due to it only carrying a B energy rating,as if it is left empty it does tend to eat up the electricity.Very easy to defrost and clean, but it isn't a frost free and you must ensure you defrost regularly to make the most of it.
Summary: Fantastic product for those on a budget, easy to use and clean .Bargain!
