Beautiful Dresses And Very Attentive Staff

Have been to glamorous gowns today to choose my wedding dress. The two ladies in the store were amazing and very patient allowing me to try on as many dresses during my appointment as I needed in order to make my choice. The selection of dresses was very good. A huge thank you as I now have a beautiful gown to look forward to wearing on my special day. Thank you for being so helpful, professional and a joy to be with.

Would definitely recommend glamorous gowns.

A Miserable, Unwelcoming Boss

My sister is getting married in September and collected her dress this week. This is my first time visiting Glamorous Gowns in Camberley. My first impression was good, the store looks lovely but this was quickly spoilt by the very miserable lady in charge. For some reason it was as if she did not want us in her shop. She didn't smile, she seemed irritated when asked to amend the dress after the sales assistant broke the strap whilst fastening my sister's dress. We felt uncomfortable and when we left my sister said goodbye to the boss and she didn't even look at my sister, she just mumbled goodbye under her breath whilst looking down. So rude, we spent money in ur shop and regardless of your prejudices u should show people the respect they deserve. You can't behave like that it's unpleasant and off putting. I'm not sure what her problem was but ur customers should not experience ur gloomy personality.

We are sorry to hear you felt like this, it was certainly not the intention.

There was a lady assigned to your sister and the owner was working with another bride at the time. She excused herself as quickly as possible to rectify the problem and then had to return to the customer with whom she was dealing. No offense was meant and we apologise unreservedly if you felt bad.

Thank you for all your help! You made selecting my dream dress easy and you were very understanding with my requests. I looked stunning on the day and everyone was thrilled with how the dress looked. I will certainly be recommending you to my friends and I know my chief bridesmaid has already ordered her own gown from you for September! I couldn't believe how cheap you were compared to the other shop I saw. Mori Lee dresses are stunning!

Your bridesmaid selection was also really good, and all my bridesmaids loved their dresses.

Hi Tracy. I live local so visited the shop. My bridesmaid ordered her's online from them though, as she lives in Essex and its a bit of a trek. If you aren't sure about online give them a call. Alex is lovely and really helpful.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Glamourous gowns again for their help with choosing my dress ! The wedding in jamaica went without a hitch and the dress was perfect especially with the added sparkle they kindly helped me with !! I visited several bridal shops in my quest to find the dress and can honestly say that the service Glamourous Gowns deliver is second to none !!

Not only that, but they also have a big selection of gowns to choose from.

Most Welcoming Shop

My sister ordered her wedding dress for her wedding in August 2012, I was with her when she attended the store ( then in Farnborough) and loved the owner who was very warm and friendly, there was never any feel of being rushed into anything and she was very comfortable to be around.

This year it's my turn, and I've been back to the new store in Camberley, as well as others in the local area. Alex is as welcoming as ever and without prompting remembered my sister and her dress-she clearly likes to build a good relationship.

I tried a wide variety of gowns on, back and forth between several and I never felt that she minded. I felt completely as ease around Alex and she has a great eye for suggesting dresses you might not consider. She does this without deterring you from others, and unlike another shop I've visited, she did it without making me feel that my body shape was awful and needed to be hidden under layers of fabric.

I couldn't recommend the store enough, I had a wonderful experience, as did my sister last year.

An absolute added bonus is the prices are fair, and her new store is big with lots of light.

Ever So Helpful

I had a lovely time at Glamourous Gowns. I already had the ideal dress in my mind, and booked an appointment to try it on. The advisor got me in that dress, and a number of other ones, just to be safe. I couldn't believe it, I actually preferred one of the others, and it was cheaper. But she didn't mind, she was just happy I had found my real dream dress!

The shop itself is nice and big and the changing rooms were quite large. My mum loved the comfy sofa.

I will be back later in the year with my bridesmaids, as they will need kitting out too.

Still Great!

I thought I had already reviewed this but for some reason its not showing. I don't have time to type all my review out again, but all I want to say is that both I and my bridesmaids were really happy with our dresses. The staff were lovely and we were really made to feel relaxed.

Started Well, Ended Badly

I first visited glamorous gowns in August 2012 when it was still based in Farnborough. The owner was very helpful and quite bossy at making me try on a wide variety of dresses. I was very happy with the service and pleased with the dress I picked. My 2 bridesmaids also picked their dresses and were happy with the service. I was told I would be contacted in February when my dress would be due into store and paid 50% of the total bill.

February passed, it got to the end of March and I was starting to get worried, so I contacted the owner and she said it had been in for ages and she had sent me an e-mail(which I didn’t receive)I made an appointment to go in for a fitting with my chief bridesmaid.

At the new shop in Camberley I tried on my dress in very public surroundings, young girls were coming in and out during this time and he had to keep going off to help them, it was not a private appointment as I was expecting. The dress didn't fit so I was disappointed that it would need to be altered and I would have to come back down again. My bridesmaid tried on her dress and it was way too small about 10 inches despite the fact she had been measured by him a few months before. the worst thing about this appointment was the way he spoke to my bridesmaid in front of other customers in the shop, stating very rudely that she would have to either pay for a panel to be put in or buy a new one. There was no sympathy, no help or no offer of a more sensitive way to resolve the situation. My friend was very upset and embarrassed.

So we had to go back to the shop for a 3rd time, again the communication that my dress had come back in was poor. On this occasion my dress fitted, although he had to take some of the stitching out and put in an extra modesty panel which she put in on the spot. I was happy with the dress although a bit annoyed that I had to pay out an extra £90 which hadn't been communicated. I was expecting it to be £30-40 as previously suggested. My bridesmaid dress fitted with the corset back but that cost an extra £50. My other bridesmaids dress was also faulty at the back and she had to get that fixed at her own cost.

On the day of the wedding, I had a disaster with my dress, after the ceremony my sister in law ran up to me and pulled me over to one side saying she could see my bum! I was horrified! The modesty panel had been sewn in so badly it had come loose and had slipped to one side. For the rest of the day I spent it fiddling with my bum making sure it was in place, not ideal on your wedding day when you are moving, talking to guests and dancing!

My chief bridesmaid also found that there were no straps with her dress so she spent the day constantly pulling at her dress.

After the wedding I sent Alex an e-mail with my comments hoping for some sort of apology or at the very least an apology to my chief bridesmaid for the manner in which she spoke to her. All I got from her were excuses and she was very defensive and reluctant to apologise. She made out the reason for my dress mishap must have been something I did!

In summary, I would not recommend, what started off as a reasonable dress ended up quite expensive. the customer service was poor, the shop is not private and the owner needs to learn some sensitivity. If you still want to use this store I would strongly recommend you check the measurements he takes and writes down on her forms as if you are in a hurry this could be detrimental and costly.

We pride ourselves on the VERY good relationships we build with our customers and it is never a good thing for someone to feel we have failed them. All comments are taken on board. In response to your review, we feel it necessary to give our side of the story, in the interest of fairness.

While we do not wish to enter into a longwinded response we feel we should be allowed to point out that when the bridesmaids dress was ordered her measurements were as follows:

Bust 46" Waist 44" Hips 51"

When she returned to try on the actual dress her measurements were as follows:

Bust 49" Waist 48" Hips 52"

Quite clearly a change by this amount will lead to alterations. We did to to explain this as tactfully as possible.

We do encourage people to check their measurements, and agree that it is important not to rush this stage of the dress buying process.

With regards to communications, if you have an AOL or a hotmail / Live account, you need to keep an eye on the junk mail folder, as they both have a habit of blocking valid mail (this doesn't just apply to us). We do leave phone messages too, and if we still haven't heard we will send a postcard.

Saved My Life!

Found Glamourous Gowns after I was badly let down by a bridal shop closure. I ordered one of the sale wedding dresses and I had it within the week, at a dirt cheap price. It saved the day. Now I am enjoying my honeymoon but wanted to say a quick thanks to Alex!

I liked on the site that it went by my measurements. I entered my hip size and I immediately saw all the sale dresses that would fit. Sizes differ from high street so don't assume you are the same as say Monsoon. You won't be. Well I wasn't anyway.

My Dream Dress

I visited Glamourous Gowns in January and again in June. On both times the service I received from Alex was excellent. My initial appointment to try on a dress lasted two hours, and Alex really helped. I had no idea what I wanted, but Alex got me into loads of different dresses until I found the one that clicked. There was no pressure whatsoever.

I came back in June to try on my dress and pay the balance. I mention this because I was supposed to pick up my dress in May but Alex was in hospital for two weeks. She had contacted me beforehand to make sure this was ok, and as my wedding wasn't until July it was fine. I am happy to say that when I went in June Alex was back on her feet again!

Oh and my dress was lovely. I can certainly recommend Mori Lee as well!
