“Not good experience ”

★★☆☆☆

written by Daisy277 on 25/02/2019

I booked so called “free design visit” and felt very disappointed. The salesman seemed nice but spent 4 hours in my house trying to design not big 3 door wardrobe! I didn’t expect the appointment to be that long, the sale person left my house at 10 o’clock in the evening! He was very pushy, didn’t want to do design if I didn’t commit to purchasing the furniture. To top all that I expected the reputable company to be doing designs using some sort of software but no, the drawing was done by hand with a pencil on a piece of paper which took nearly 2 hours and was being done during the appointment. Very awkward situation to have a stranger sitting a couple of hours in your sitting room quietly drawing away! I didn’t buy the anything as it didn’t look like a good value for money. The cheapest design of 3 door wardrobe cost £2040.00 after discount and the sample I was shown (Cassia range) looked like the cheapest white mdf board you can buy in any diy store! Summarising it was very disappointing and unpleasant experience. Bread on that I would never recommend or use them again.

Beta living we was happy with most of the work carried out even though some finishing trims were never fitted round the wine chiller and we have had them back out to a crack that had appeared in the joint of our island 12 months on bearing in mind this £16000 kitchen has a 10 year warranty the crack has re appeared and the edging strip is coming off the edge of the island we've rang betta living to ask for the crack to be repaired only to be told that they have gone into administration!! Betta living is now being ran by a company called We fit any furniture We've spoken to them about the work that needs to be carried out and we've been told that we will have to pay............ Not to sure what has happened to our remaining 9 years warranty Please be very careful when choosing this company

“Far From Bespoke”

★★☆☆☆

written by mlJames254 on 31/01/2017

Initial consultation was on the friendly side of pushy. My wife and I asked a number of times if a 30 inch by 14 inch corner of the space could be used for shoe shelves. We were told that there were no existing units to fill such a shape. Betta Livingston solution was simply to board over and waste this large space. I later paid a smaller firms to take off the board and build the shelves I wanted. Betta Living are NOT bespoke fitted furniture - they simply use existing jigsaw pieces to fill the space and if there is no piece of your required size then they are happy to waste the space in your home.

“Awful Customer Service”

★★☆☆☆

written by Fatz21 on 25/07/2016

The kitchen itself is of reasonable quality but customer support was appalling. Some parts were delivered damaged. We expected this but had been assured that the difference with Betta Living was the support. We could not have been more wrong. Specifically :- It took 10 weeks to get the replacement parts. No one from their support team ever returned our calls. We had to constantly call them to chase and get updates. We had to contact their Directors before any real action was taken. On three occasions we were promised deliveries, booked our fitter only to be told the next day that the parts were not shipped. On two occasions we were told the parts were coming via UPS but that they were unable to give us the tracking number. Parts did not arrive. On two occasions the wrong part was sent. On three occasions the right parts but wrong colour were sent. Shambles. A critical part to allow our work tops to be fitted had to be sourced from Howdens(who incidentally were really quick to help). On two separate occasions the BL Sales manager promised to attend, list defects and resolve our problems. He did not show up or call to cancel. Touch up paint supplied does not match colour of kitchen units. On one occasion we were asked to collect a part from their showroom. When our fitter arrived the unit was the wrong style and wrong colour. We are currently in dispute with BL re compensation for the approx cost of all of the above (extra fitter days, parts and mods). Beware. We were told by a member of BL staff that our problems was because we used our own fitter. BL fitters get preferential next day service.

written by Shibu on 13/06/2016

Installation date commitment was broken two times.Staff are not very helpful. All sugar coated words. so many meaningless apologies. They promise to call you back but no body did. Because of the installation date commitment broken ,I suffered £3500 loss and caused a lot of troubles.Quality of the product is also not upto some of the other names in the industry. I will never ever recommend Bettaliving to anyone.

“Just do not care”

written by bob1956 on 06/04/2016

At the initial stage we were very pleased with what we were getting and the quality and planning. On the day of the fitting the two fitters arrived very promptly and cracked on with the job. Next day did not turn up till mid day as sent on another job, totally unacceptable, due to come back on Monday but did not make it back till mid day on the Wednesday as they were doing other jobs. Had to wait for ordered microwave, which is still sitting in my garage waiting to be fitted and I also have a lovely pull out larder cupboard which is totally useless as the I am still waiting for the basket shelves. Job should have been finished on the 2nd March at the latest it is now 6th April and still waiting. Numerous emails and phone calls with the promise of contact and nothing. They have your money and cannot be bothered with even a modicum of customer service. B71347

Please see B reference at bottom of review
The treatment I have had makes a mockery of what is posted on your website about responding within 5 days to complaints instead they are just ignored , I am glad I have not paid in full for the fitters as if they want their money they can go to Betta Living for it.
As to the installation manager she seems totally incapable of dealing with anything, even writing emails or answering the phone.

I finally have a fully fitted kitchen but it should not have taken emails to the CEOs of Next and Betta Living to get some response, by the way these are quite easy to find with an internet search, It certainly should not have taken as long as it did or been as stressful but have bettaliving contacted to find out if finally I am satisfied, no, or to offer some form of compensation for the shoddy service, no.
I was intending to use them for a fitted bedroom but due to there very poor customer service this will certainly not happen.

“Ex display bedroom furniture in Traffiord ”

★★☆☆☆

written by awall20 on 06/02/2016

I would like to say how disappointed l am in regards to the service and information given by staff at this showroom. On visiting 27/1/16 with my friend, having seen an ex display bedroom in this store , being interested l enquired for more details being by a member of staff I was informed this display came with all fixtures and fittings, including designer bedding. On asking if could put a deposit and confirming information, I was then informed by another member of staff that some of the information on this display may be in correct . Not including the bed and not sure if all the fittings were includied . However on trying to check this out with their manager I was shown online a completely different bed which looked cheap an in another store in Manchester which had closed and would have to meet their. By this time I was feeling dissappointed and discussed that you cannot as a company give information to a customer and then go back on this . The display would have fit my bedroom but to add insult to injury they have not had the common decency to get back to myself after two weeks , evidently not the least bit interested . Will not be bothering !

“Bettaliving - bitterly disappointing service”

★★☆☆☆

written by Charmaine100 on 29/01/2016

The sales team were brilliant! They came round listened carefully to what we wanted, produced a perfect design - even helping us choose complimentary appliances. We found the perfect kitchen design, door colour and worktop. We even agreed the price straight away because we were so pleased and excited. The problem began with the survey. In October The surveyor arrived and approved everything. We advised him that we wanted the kitchen to be fitted in the first week if February as we had workmen in during January to prepare the plumbing, plastering and electricity. He agreed the date.He promised to return within a fortnight with completed drawings and coatings. He did not. We went into the shop and they chased him. He returned in December without the plans and drawings but promised to email these. He assured us that the kitchen would be fitted in February as agreed. In January he returned with the drawings and coatings for us to sign. We did this and he assured us that he had spoken to the manufacturers and our kitchen would be ready on time. A week later we received a call from the manufacturers telling us that the kitchen cupboards and doors would not be manufactured in time for February but we could have them at the end of March. We explained that it was now mid January and we had ripped out our old kitchen in preparation for the new one. We could not go another 2 months without a kitchen. The surveyor rang and assured us that this was a mistake and our kitchen would be delivered on time. Another week passed and the manufacturers rang again this time to say that they could not source the dishwasher and hob that we had ordered but offered us alternatives. We did not like the alternative job and they agreed to deduct money from our bill so that we could buy the hob elsewhere. We did and the hob arrived the next day. A couple of days later the manufacturers rang again, this time to let us know that Theodora would not be manufactured until March sometime. Needless to say we felt upset . We have struggled through January without a kitchen.in the expectation that our kitchen would be completed as agreed in February. We asked to speak to someone in authority about this and we are still waiting. It is now 29 th January and we are expecting fitting to start next week but we have no idea if or when it will be finished. We are spending a sizeable amount of cash on this kitchen and we are bitterly disappointed with the process. We wish now that we had gone with John Lewis as they have a similar kitchen, exact work tops and promise to fit it all in one week. I have waited 11 years for this kitchen and I am so disappointed, I feel like crying!

Well, it is now April 15. The kitchen has been installed but the fitting is poor. I note that Bettaliving promise to fully project manage the fitting and installation but no one has been near. We have repeatedly asked for someone to come and inspect the work but ... you guessed it - no one arrived. The integrated fridge sits in the housing cupboard, it's door has been put on but it is not attached. Each time we open the door it moves forward. We have to keep pushing it back in to be able to close the door securely. This is damaging both fridge and door. The problem is worse in the freezer. The door is harder to move and sometimes does not close, causing food to defrost and damage to the freezer. Having waited till the end of March for the cupboard doors o be manufactured, delivered and fitted, I expected them to be perfect, but two were damaged in transit. We were told replacements would arrive in ten days, but we are still waiting. The doors on. the tall cupboards are not properly fitted. The fittings that hold the top and bottom halves together are clearly visible. I asked the fitter to redo this, but he refused advising me to cover the visible fitting with paint that matches the unit. I explained that the gap between the top and bottom need to be closed so the fittings are not seen and the gap between cupboard doors need to be evenly spaced but he refused. I could write a catalogue of things that needs to be rectified! The quality of the fitting and service detracts from a great design and lovely units, appliances and work tops. I just want the kitchen completed and finished to a good standard. The company promise a project manager, we did not have one and as a result, we have had to do a lot of work chasing various people - making this process has been long, drawn out, tiring and stressful. The sales team in the showroom have dealt with our ongoing concerns in a very professional manner. However, they can only pass our concerns on to the relevant teams. I hope the company will provide a project manager and fitter with the same degree of professionalism to enable my kitchen to be finally finished.

4 weeks from ripping our bathroom out we have no sink. Half tiled, what tiling had been done needs doing again. I've never met a fitter that knows no personal boundaries. We have been lied too. The project manager never gets back to you when he said he would.not hi g is ever resolved the situation just got worse and worse. The order was not all there, we were missed sold a bath and how we could have it function. This was not a cheap bathroom and I feel we have been tricked into what was sold a great service and as soon as we signed on the line it was down hill from there. Once the company got their money they didn't want to know even the managers said they would call back and they didn't. Now I'm left with a half finished bathroom. Broken radiator and hover, oh yes the fitter went through my cupboard and used my house hover filled it with nails, screws and all sorts of nastiness. I would never recommend this company. I can not believe the heartache and trauma my family have been put though this last month.

“Ongoing issues”

★★☆☆☆

written by chrismachin on 09/10/2015

I had my second kitchemn supplied. Quality is good however firsdt time there was odd bits missing but got sorted in a rteasonable time and as I was not living there was not too much of an issue. Second time is an experience not to have again and I wont. Wrong sized doors. 10 days late the right ones turn up. Missing fixings. Now this could have been an error on my side as they are packed within a corner of the unit which if you had of noticed through the masses of bubble wrap you would have seen. However after numerous converstaions and promises and the wrong bit being sent we actually received. Again there should have been thirty fasteners 22 were sent out, he was suprised as he counted them himself. Well my fitter counted the holes and fitting as dis I. So hay ho. Sink waste did not fit properly, so after converstaions with Betta, and then the supplier direct twice sent the wron bits. Popped to City Plumbing and sorted only to find the waste and fittings are not standard. You know what is really good but totally condascending they said they wouldf pay for the new waste. Now I know if you are skint a fiver is a lot of money but when you have spent 9.5K on a kitchen are you really bothered. what should have been a weeks work is now into its third week. RECOMENDATION DO NOT TOUCH. I was adding a few units for my utility but changed mind and went to Howdens who provided all I needed there and then Service excellenty!!!!!!!!!

“Very Stressful”

★★☆☆☆

written by Primrose59 on 30/09/2015

Had a visit from salesman who sold us a kitchen on promises he couldn't deliver. Told us we could have cupboards that when the surveyor came , wouldn't fit in. Also said the firm would get rid of rubbish, didn't allow for the ceilings to be plastered, didn't inform us fully about payments to be made, also we would have to sign to say we were informed the work tops would possibly scratch ?? The salesperson was completely incompetent. The surveyor completely blew the pans out of the water, the units wouldn't fit in, tall units were not possible and when the sink was going to end up in the corner and not in front of the window, we called a halt. All this took 4 hours. Visit from the area manager went slightly better, a return visit from the surveyor (another 2 hours) and a start date was agreed. By now we were so stressed with the experience we wished we hadn't bothered. Then the fitter arrived.. He was brilliant totally redeemed that firm. He was organised, tidy, very conscientious and fitted everything beautifully. There were one or two hiccups but they were resolved quickly and efficiently bythe person I dealt with We would not use this firm again. There is very little communication between colleagues at the expense set of the customer. I have to say the kitchen does look beautiful and the quality is good but the whole planning process was an awful experience.

The Fitting of the kitchen was good no complaints from the fitters. As for contacting the company and for something called "Good customer care" was lacking. After just after two months finally got the kitchen completed. The company will acknowledge receipt of an email but from there the company do not respond. I have called them on numerous occasions and only on the odd occasions have been able to speak to someone. Although I have had bedrooms fitted by this company before and had no complaints and that is why we returned. “Nice wardrobe, great fitters, APPALLING SERVICE”

★★☆☆☆

written by Paulandemmajennings on 04/05/2015

We got Betta Living to install a new fitted wardrobe. It looks great and the fitters were lovely. Sadly about six months later and one of the sliding doors isn't running smoothly but grates loudly and is a struggle to move. Wasn't concerned as I was sure it would be easy to fix and the fitters had said the doors sometimes needed adjusting after a few months and just to get in touch. Rang Betta Living and gave my details. Put through to someone else and had to give all the details again. Mildly annoying. Given number of someone I had to call. Rang them and was told they would speak to a fitter and get back to me. No response after about a fortnight so my wife called. They told her they had no record of any contact with us, apologised and said they would ring back. They didn't. We called, they apologised and said they would speak to a fitter and then be in touch in soon. That was a fortnight ago. Terrible service. Either deliberately failing us or utterly incompetent.

written by Jetcadet on 16/02/2015

Had a lovely lady from better living design my kitchen unfortunately kitchen fitters were not first class first they hit a pipe whilst putting unit in and reassured me they had stopped the leak ??? Then I had to phone the office to get them back out as a plynth they had used was a bit of scrap (no edging) the aftercare team was good at this point orderd new piece fitter came back fitted new peice (so we thought)??? Then a month or 2 later there was water coming through my new vinyl flooring and the tiles were starting to lift there was water everywhere so I removed plynth to find pipe was still leaking and had bowed aside on kitchen unit I spoke to a manager who I found very uncaring but agreed to send an assessor out on arrival we noticed fitter had used adhesive on plynth to stick on units instead of screws ?? He also sealed round allll the bottoms instead of using a plastic seal that goes under plinth the work was shabby to say the least a kitchen fitter came out today to put all these problems right however when I spoke to a manager and said the fitter can't put tiles back down even though the assessor had put this in his report he became in my opion aggressive (tone) he had no right to we are kitchen fitters not tilers (obviously not neither or I wouldn't be in this situation) I refused to talk to him and passed phone to fitter end of day yes fitter did sort kitchen out and did do floor but better living now refusing to take all rubbish away and have left on drive?? Would I recommend them in a word no as I would not wish for them to get the fitters I first had its a shame as the designer and after sales team was good just 2 fitters and a manager that have let them down and caused this review

“Guarantee”

I suggest you have a CLOSE look at thier guarantee. It is NOT all that it is made out to be. It says 5 years, but that is not by any means for everything!! BEWARE!! After a year or so, our integrated fridge door became 'misaligned', probably a simple job but, as a pensioner I couldn't work out how to do it myself. I called my local Betta Living who designed and fitted entire kitchen trying to invoke the guarantee, to be told that the instalation was only covered for 1 year (they use contracted out installers) and their fee would be at least £75 just to come out, look at the job and adjust the door as necessary. I expressed my extreme dissapointment with this, feeling conned by the 5 year guarantee promise. It is written on the back of the guarantee so they tell me. We will never use them again, as after sales service doesnt seem to exist in my mind.

I have a new york high gloss kitchen was installed just 2 years ago costing over £13000. I have noticed that the gloss is coming away from the wood. I have been told that there is problems with that style. I hope that whatever I get replaced with it will be good quality and not something cheap. Has anyone else had this problem?

We have the same kitchen we paid over £16,000 for in may 2015 we noticed in August this year we noticed the gloss coming away on a few concurs I contacted Betta living and they were honest and told us they had a problem with the glue on the doors and cornices so they told us they would replace all of these but we would have to wait as the new batch was coming from Germany any way 3 weeks later they rang and said they would deliver them all three days later which they have done . Berta Living have now organised a fitter to replace everything and he is due to start the work on Monday 31st October so I am hoping that our kitchen will be as good as it was before.

I have had bedroom furniture and a new kitchen supplied and fitted by Betta Living. My only reason for contacting them was to report an issue with an appliance that they supplied. They responded immediately and had the appliance supplier contact me on the same day. The appliance was then replaced within the week, and Betta Living contacted me to make sure that they had sorted the issue out satisfactorily. I would thoroughly recommend them to anybody wanting a good service and product.

You phone the call centre and get passed around, if the questions are awkward they pass you on or they are not available when you call. The customer services team were appalling in resolving our numerous issues and it took over 3 months to get our kitchen installed and completed to our satisfaction.

I had two methods of contact. firstly with the head office (somewhere up north, I identified by name, the person who had responsibility for my job and when I had a problem I asked for him in person and got an immediate and very satisfactory resolution to my problem. For any fitting issues I had a mobile number for my fitter who would come out and sort the problem as soon as he was able certainly within the week in question and even at the weekend. He even came out to adjust something months after the job was complete. I always had an immediate response and problems were sorted in a very short time the only hold up would be getting the materials to me to complete any work required and they would always keep me informed of the progress in obtaining the parts that came from abroad.

You need to ring head office and get them do send out a different fitter if the one that was working on your bedroom and kitchen is not responding. Don't sit quietly and wait for them to get in touch, make sure you take the fitters direct number this time and get on their case. Good luck.

Because they have now probably got your money and as usual dont give a **** about you anymore. I found the only way to get a missing cupboard from my delivery was to go to the factory and get it. Customer service is terrible they are only interested in getting the money. the only way I can suggest is phone every day and email them, I was promised a call from a senior manager - still waiting after 4 months

Don't bother with the watchdog threats etc, everyone says that it's water off a ducks back. Be calm and rational, make sure you have a name to contact directly from Betta living. The materials they use are the same as any other supplier of kitchens and bedrooms, so don't start fretting about them being substandard. Can honestly say our bedroom was fitted very smoothly, there was the odd mistake in terms what was delivered but replacement parts were delivered in 24hours and all taken care of by the fitter. The fitters are all sub contracted and get paid per item fitted, if they mess up, they don't get paid, Betta Living are very strict, the same applies to the surveyor. If you are not happy with the materials, Betta Livings fault, unhappy with the installation, fitters fault, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL HE HAS GONE THROUGH EVERYTHING FITTED WITH YOU. if there is a delay in terms of delivery probably the surveyors fault but you should have his contact details , don't bother with the sales rep, they won't be any help. Hopefully you haven't paid the final balance yet, we didn't pay our fitter until everything was 100% perfect! and too be fair I didn't have a bad word to say about the whole experience. Ranting will get you no-where, you will only get people fuelling your anger further, make sure you know what needs to be done and explain to Betta living what you expect to happen how long it will take to finish the job,and a compensation sum of money if this isn't met. Again don't threaten them with watchdog or solicitors they no it won't happen, be calm and firm and reasonable, see this as an opportunity to get some money back rather than a pain .

If you used the finance company to fund your bedroom & Kitchen complain to them. Under the credit licence laws they have to act on your behalf and if you are unhappy they have to refund you the money. If you haven't then as others suggested, write a review, message in twitter/facebook. Thats the only way they respond. Their public image is all they care about. Threaten that and they will respond.

Im sorry to hear of your troubles. I can only sympathise with you as the same happened to us (although our went on for a year an half). This is typical betta living issue. When things go wrong, no one wants to help you. Unless of course you post a review...then they will move heaven and earth just to try and get you to remove the review.

Hi thanks for you question. We had a fit done for around £2200. The service was great and they did a really good job. When I looked at DIY stores were asking £5000+ so who knows what Marx34 is banging on about. If he was really any good he wouldn't have paid for the service, he probably doesn't earn much and want to take it out on professional people want to earn a good living like the most of us! My friends had some polish fitter in to do it on the cheap and that had no end of problems which is why we were happy to pay the professionals.

Don't use bettaliving. They are way over priced, all the units are flat packed which the assemble on site. As the previous answer states I could of done it better myself. Our kitchen cost over 6k and we only had 3 draws, pantry unit and 4 cupboards. A friend has had his from wickes for 5k fully fitted, twice the size of mine, solid oak worktops and solid oak doors plus a range in the middle! Wish we would of gone to wickes!

I had my kitchen fitted by bettaliving 2 years ago and to date still love it, I could not fault the designer the fitters and quality. Yes you pay a deposit but most companies are the same. I had previously got different quotes and I had a budget in mind and bettaliving was the cheapest.

I would suggest you throw it back over to your neighbours garden, after all it is their rubbish. Of course speak to them first as ask them to call betta living Better living barley listen to customers so I'm guessing with you being a customers neighbour chances are they aren't gonna contact you. Another think you can do is report them to your council for fly tipping in your garden.

You've got to keep pestering them!! It took them a week to eventually organise ours & I found out that they had only contacted the removal team the day before even though I had promises from 4 days before that it was all organised. The company's post installation support is the worst I've ever experienced even if the actual installation is good
Report this content Theheighwaywoman Written on: 22/05/2014
Betta living are not responsible for removing the rubbish which is part of their conditions it is your neighbours responsibility and their should of hired a skip at the beginning. This is what I had to do.

The problem that you have is that Betta living do not remove any of the packaging that comes with their deliveries and there is a gigantic amount. That will have been written into yoyr neighbours contract when they purchased, we didnt pick up on that and could not believe how much wood and cardboard and off cuts there was. We had our refit last October and are still burning it all on the Chimnea, after spending a whole day cutting it up. I agree with the other answer and this is your neighbours problem and they should be a good neighbour and remove it themselves straight away. Customer service with Betta Living is appauling and the small issue we had with a bedroom stool took three months to get sorted. Good units and brilliant fitters but aftersales is rubbish
Report this content banxy Written on: 23/05/2014
My neighbour paid the company to have his rubbish removed. He had a bigger problem, as the gas cooker was not connected properly and had to get the gas board to shut his gas supply off. It took 36hours for betta living to send a fitter to sort the cooker. I think we are lucky we didnt get blown to bits! It would at least have solved the problem about the rubbish!
Report this content MrsSmith1 Written on: 24/05/2014

Cookers, etc. are supplied by companies that Betta Living deal with. There must be a makers name and contact details on the paperwork that came with your appliances. Either get in touch with them to ask or get in touch with Betta Living themselves and ask them.

I'd send it to their head office in Oldham, although we weren't given anything to complete and send off, our 15 year guarantee was given to us by the fitters on completion of the kitchen when we signed to say we were happy with it.

Hi there, I took out the finance offer as Betta Living could offer an additional discount as opposed to other means of payment. I was keen to pay off the loan as soon as possible, and from my experience the agreement was in place on the first day of fitting. I wasn't aware until I called on the last day of fitting (third day). The settlement figure was the loan + two days interest of when the agreement started plus + 30 days of interest (as per the terms of the agreement) which was minimal from the discount received. Basically 1/6 of the discount received (in my case). Hope this helps.
Report this content LaneyBen Written on: 07/04/2014
We took out the finance to get the extra discount and then paid it off on the first day we could so didn't incur any costs or interest.
Report this content Nerav21 Written on: 22/05/2014
Take the finance out and then pay it after one month. It will cost you a months interest, however if you have issues with better living the finance company under the credit law have to sort out any disputes, and you could refuse to pay completely if the dispute is significant (with betta living changes are high for that to happen). Basically you will be more protected and also you only pay once work is complete not before.

Same here but it's illegal as they offer cheaper prices. Report them to the FCA and they will get a nice fine and you will Get a nice little sum.
