Pros Very helpful staff that speaks great english! Most of the system is very easy to use and find editing tools or settings. Cons They are lacking on a couple MAIN ESSENTIAL FEATURES that you wouldn't think bigcommerce would ignore or not notice. I know they are aware because I've address the issues several times with little response or care to resolve on there end. Below are the issues. Issue #1 Applying customer store credit to orders on the backside of the system when helping enter order for customer...and not having to log into customers account on the front side. This way if I help a customer with placing there order I can enter it on the backside of bigcommerce instead of going to my site, log into customers account, place the order, apply credit, and finalize order. Issue #2 (Big problem and very strange they didn't include a edit feature here) Bigcommerces platform is the first I've seen that doesn't allow me to update or change the customers purchasing method. - EXAMPLE: customer first wants to pay with check...so we finalize the order...then get a call from customer stating they want to pay with credit card now. Currently I have to delete the current order and place a new order since there is no option to allow payment change or update. Issue #3 (Very important to have something for this when you have multiple designers and vendors) Editor notes for products would be nice to see. I would also like to see a area on products to state which vendor I buy the product from. Maybe also throw in a note area for designers to make notes for only admin users to see on a product. - EXAMPLE: Product Name: imac Vendor: apple or mega distributors Cost: 500.00 each (12+ $455.68) Editor Notes: Last edit JohnDoe 4.1.14 still need to finish option sets Issue #4 (Very big problem....what was bigcommerce thinking?!) How to change orders marked shipped or partially shipped as NOT shipped. Currently bigcommerce has nothing in place for changing a orders shipping status. What I mean by this is…below. Example of problem: - Customer orders 5 boxes of product A. - Warehouse notifies processing agent order has shipped. - Processor marks order shipped with tracking number which then the system sends email to customer notifing them the order shipped. | - Warehouse then notifies processor they made mistake and only shipped 1 box Bigcommerce’s suggestion was: - Email customer and tell them OR - Cancel the order and create a new one, Problems with that are: - Accounting system like QB is tied to that order number already so we would have to change every form in all our systems. - Customer would have to note new order number….and if we do it without customer knowing they will get emails about new orders plus and start calling us with confusion. How the system should work: (which other ecommerce systems have) - I should be able to cancel all shipments marked against the order and start again. - Or I should be able to edit and mark certain items in the order where shipped (X Date) and with (X tracking #) Advise to management: take the time to listen to customer and employees suggestions and maybe implement them. Especially when they are basic features and functions that should already exist.

NEVER USE BIG COMMERCE! FULL OF BUGS AND THERE SUPPORT IS NON EXISTENT

Very very basic, missing many options, inventory tracking is horrible from a glance. Doesn't sync quantities with ebay, can only submit a fixed quantity via a listing template to ebay.

Despite this company being in business for a number of years now, their software remains plagued with bugs and they have brought out close to zero features in the last year despite having an "Ideas" section on their website now. Their transparency is terrible. They cannot provide dates on rectifying SEVERE bugs, some of which we reported up to a few years ago. Their priorities amaze us. A lot of their support is outsourced to Eastern Europe and the Philippines who do their absolute best to not ESCALATE tickets when they are BUGS. I have been told a few times on bugs that "this hasn't been reported by others", implying that certain bugs reported are simply not bugs and it is somehow user error. System administrators who are the only ones that can resolve issues only work during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 til 5 - they do not have shifts despite claiming to be a near 24 / 7 company). Their system administrators also take ages to respond to all their hundreds of escalated tickets, mostly presumably containing bugs. They will write "reports" in the USA for their engineering team in Sydney to follow up on. You will never hear an outcome. You will never know when or even if it will be sorted. None of them can provide resolution times. Their new features pending always end up taking months longer than anticipated. Considering this company? DON'T use them. One of the poorest companies I have worked with. Support over-stretched. Management have no clue at all. BigCommerce should be ashamed of themselves.

When you start up, you'll see all kinds of sales speak about how they are in development with all kinds of new features that are "being worked on by dedicated staff"...then you'll notice the basic features other carts implemented years ago has been on big commerce "Ideas board" for years. But then you'll build your site, spending days and days of your time building your store up,fast forward 1 year later, and you'll notice that development of these so called "in progress ideas" have not moved since you started. You soon see your competition cruise by you due to your lack of basic selling features. Don't buy the hype, Big Commerce is dead in the water. Avoid.

I tried to set up my ecommerce idea with this site builder because of previous reviews I made and the money back policy they have. The design templates few of them are 100% professional looking. The card processing options are extensive but very little of the options they offer are merchant oriented and expensive. I had problems setting up my own domain and email account. Tech support is nice but lacks solution ideas for your problems. When I decided it wasn't the best option for me they didn't refund the money I paid for nothing. Do not recommend

We were an established UK online retailer looking to change ecommerce platforms as our business has developed. Finally chose bigcommerce after trying nearly every other platform available! We used bigcommerce to set up our 301 directs and didn't experience a drop in traffic. We maintained our google #1 rank for our main keywords but have seen that we have now achieved the 1st rank for keywords that previously were not ranking well with google. SEO is very easy to set up with title pages, meta tags etc easy to complete. It's got some great features that on other platforms you have to buy as add ons or have script written for you (if you lack HTML knowledge like me!). I have found the customer service fantastic. I use the online chat (always someone online even though the time difference between UK and USA is different). Any support requests have been answered within the hour so far. They have sorted the postage and VAT issues out too. Only downside is the forum on bigcommerce isn't that busy so you don't get many responses from it. This tends to make me use the live chat more rather than posting on the forum. They have a lot of support information too. Overall I would highly recommend.

I set up my Big commerce site easily and the site is great and packed full of features. Just one problem. When it comes to being a UK merchant and wanting to take the most popular card types Maestro and Visa Debit cards using Paypal Web payments pro or Sagepay direct etc, YOU CANT! The site does not accept these card types and 3d secure does not work properly. So your stuffed. Big Commerce support does not seem to be very interested either I then found the Big commerce forums full of people in the Uk having the same issue and getting no resolution, so it's not just me. Therefore if your in the UK look for another shopping cart unless you want to go down the Worldpay route or paypal standard payments which I don't!

Do not sign up if you live in the UK. This is not PCI-DSS compliant or and 3d secure does not work so you cannot take switch or maestro cards. Do NOT buy if you risk your business.

We setup our store to sell childrens clothing through BigCommerce in September of 2009. From the minute we found Bigcommerce we were impressed. The software is very easy to use, is streamlined and functioned exactly as we expected. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to sell online.
Things we loved:
- Great phone support
- Support for different options (sizes, color, etc)
- Easy integration with our payment gateway (Authorize.net)
- Very easy to learn - took us about 2 days to get our entire store live
Things that could have been improved:
- The user guide is a PDF and at 400 pages is a bit hard to read
- We would have liked to choose from more themes
Overall a 5 out of 5. We're getting ready for the holiday season and so far so good!

Perhaps you could answer a question?
I am setting up children's clothing store for my sister.
I have setup clothing sizes. But when I have just started to enter the products and run a quick view of the store. I've noticed a problem. I have entered a product with one particular size that is available out of a list of sizes. However, it shows all sizes regardless. I want to only show the product and size that is available and in stock.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Cory
