and the menu of the X10 is amazing
and while coming to browsing
the browsing is smooth in landscape mode
and music is always excellent in headphones
in Sony when comparing to other phones
the video clarity is also nice
it has a wide screen
and its Battery back is normal
and its software version is android
and for business people its a great phone

I've owned a more than a few smartphones starting with the old SE P800, a couple of windows phones (from Win 5 to 6.5), Nokia E71 etc. So I can look at it from several different angles. I got the X10 as an upgrade on T-Mobile.

The screen is truly lovely, nice, big and bright. The downside of this is that the battery life is poor, although this needs to be considered against the specs of the machine and if you download "Advanced Task Killer" and "free memory" both of which are free from the App Market and your battery life will improve dramatically. Get a car charger and disable the "Timescape" or set it to refresh less often and you should be fine. In short the battery isn't a patch on the Nokia E71's but the processor used to struggle on the E71.

Call quality and reception are good - easily on a par with Nokia (I'm comparing this with phones I've used in Central London - if you're in the sticks it might be different).

The Android software appears very stable - in a week I've pulled the battery twice (and that was due to me not knowing how to force close an app - I used to use the HTC application on my Windows phones). Now I know how to force close, no more problems (I would say RTFI but SE don't supply a hard copy manual - it's all on the phone). The app market is very easy to use.

One thing that caused a bit of annoyance was not being able to sync directly with Outlook (there is sync software but its not cheap) and the enclosed "Moxio" appeared to be too much of a faff to be easy. You have to sync through "Google" so I deleted the sensitive details from Outlook, downloaded the Google app to sync with GMail, synced then physically entered the stuff on the phone I don't want Google to have.

The BIG downer is that there is no bluetooth handsfree dialling - there is voice dialling but you need to press a combination of buttons to use it - so forget safe handsfree for driving! Several phone shops told me that I could download an app for hands free bluetooth, BUT these only work on Android 2.1+ and the Xperia only runs 1.6 (along the SE website suggests that there will be an upgrade in the winter). If you google bluetooth voice dialling on the Xperia then you'll see a lot of unhappy drivers. Sort that out and it'd be 4.5 stars (.5 for the battery - the apps I've listed should be included from the start).

The camera is very good (as are all SE) the only issue is the flash - there isn't one - you turn the LED light on and it stays on which sucks power out - so daylight only.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is a beautiful looking phone. I have been waiting for some time now to upgrade from my very old K700i. I was loath to get an iPhone as to be honest I like to play games at home and really wanted my smartphone to be able to use the internet and keep up with social media like Twitter and Facebook. Ok the battery life might not be brilliant but that's really only if you have Timescape updating all the time, switch it to update every 3 hours, turn off 3G when you're not using it (i.e. at work or when you're sleeping) and you'll find it lasts longer.

The touch screen I have found is good and perhaps the problems lie with those with bigger fingers (mine are fairly dainty). Android market has pretty much all the apps I could want and I don't see any marked problem with running 1.6 instead of 2.0 Android but then this is my first smartphone.

I would like to be able to change the colour of Timescape but it doesn't bother me as much as I had thought it would. I got the phone for £47 on an 18th contract for £35 a month including unlimited texts and internet and 600 minutes which I feel is a good price. All I need now is a nice case, which I'm having difficulty finding, hopefully as more people buy then new ones will come out.

Give it a try, you very well might just like it.

Pros: Large, bright screen, responsive user interface, openness.
Cons: The touchscreen seems a little fiddly at times.

I tested an iPhone once and liked it except for the fact that it had appalling reception and most of the time I couldn't make or receive calls at home. Since then I've been looking for a touch-screen smartphone. My must-haves were a good camera, GPS and a large high-res screen since my eyesight is no longer brilliant. For me the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is the best phone on the market today.

The bundled apps are pretty good - if you're a Facebook or Twitter afficionado you should find Timescape pretty handy. The face-detection software in Mediascape is not just cool but also pretty useful if you take a lot of photos. I thought I'd miss the lack of an FM radio, but since I have just downloaded several hundred tracks from Spotify I think I'll get by!

My only real gripe with this phone is that the touch screen seems a little off sometimes - I have to place my finger slightly further up than I expect. However not only is this consistent, but other people who are used to touch screen phones seem to have no problem with it so I guess it's something I'll get used to.

If you're coming to this phone from an iPhone you'll have to also get used to the idea of a decent camera and the freedom to run as many apps simultaneously as you see fit. And being able to make calls. And having a torch built-in. OK I'll stop now......
