My husband and I are trying to open two Isa's with Aldermore. The sales team are enchanting and sold me the bank - the young man even said what a nice bank it was to work for. BUT the processing system was appalling. I filled in the form, and even rang the bank twice to ask advice, I did everything I was told. We move house 7 months ago, when I sent my husband and my driving licences to the DVLA asking to change our address, they put the name of our flat on his and only the number of our building on mine. This should be of no consequence. Also we put a The in front of the name of our flat, and the Council tax people did not put a The in the front of the name. All this sounds trivial, on every document was my name, the number of the house, the road and the post code. But Aldermore said that it was a 'different address' Not only did Aldermore not process our application, they did not notify us to say they were not doing so, they just did not do so. I rang, and was told that I was money laundering, because the DVLA had not put the name of our flat on my driving licence. After a lot of argy bargy we finally (after about one hour) got a sensible girl who said they would do a computer check to see if I existed, guess what I did, although the address on the electoral roll did not have The in front of the name of our flat. So you would imagine everything was ok. NO I then asked for confirmation that our present ISA was being transferred. No she said you have not asked for that. You guessed it I had, but they for a short while had lost my husband's application and then for a good 5 minutes lost mine. So they had not started to claim our current ISA's from the Building Society which we invested in last year. So you would imagine everything was ok. NO I was then told that I had forgotten to tick some box. well since I had been through it with the girl on the telephone when I filled in the form, and since my husband and I had both been through the form I question this, unfortunatley I had not taken a photo copy of the form (note to self - do so in futures) We are continuing with this bank, since when we asked to stop the transaction and asked for our money back (which was banked they moment they received our cheques) they said it would take 6 working days. All this meant more time when the money would not be invested. Well I have to say my confidence in Aldermore is pretty low, if they lose forms, cannot see that an address is the same with or without a 'The' and accuse a customer of forgetfulness and being a moneylaunderer all in one day, one wonders how good at working out interest they will be. If at the end of this financial year they have proved to be more efficient that they have to date, I will write a further review - I hope I will be able to do this. As I said in the heading, lovely people, except for the one who told me I was a money launderer but apalling systems.

So you waited with your investment until the last minute and are blaming the bank for not opening the account quick enough? How is your disorganisation their fault? Sorry to break this to you, but you losing out on the 3 days interest is entirely your fault.

With your condescending tone, you must work for the bank. If the bank answered the phone, then there wouldn't be a problem would there. As for THREE days to action an e-mail. That's just ludicrous.
As somebody in the process of searching for a reliable saving's account, this review and your comment, will have me looking elsewhere.
