Up till now, LED torches have been a let-down; powerful at short range, but the beam just doesn't carry more than a few yards. Then along came LENSER, a German company specialising in LED technology.
The P7 is about 5 inches long and an inch in diameter, with a nice solid feel. The manufacturing quality is very obvious. It can move instantly from floodlight to spotlight, and produces 200 lumens of light (which is the same as 5x 3 d-cell torches. The original P7 is slightly less powerful, 170 lumens). And it does it on 4 AAA batteries, which thanks to LENSER's technology do NOT exhaust after 5 minutes.
3 power modes- Full, normal and economy, and an on/off switch located in the end cap (just under your thumb, ideal if you're looking for a torch for defensive purposes i.e. disorient an attacker).
An astonishing torch with a beam range of some 200 metres, turning night into day. Not cheap, but it should last for ever, and if you try one I doubt you'll ever use anything else.
