Great Value for money phone, It has everything you would really need in a phone a good 2MP camera, Mp3 Player, Call, Text, FM Radio and All For £9-00!!!. The people at Orange where also very helpful in transferring my Virgin Mobile Number over. The only issue that I do have is that the Signal for the GPRS is not great in that I have to be outside to use it... Apart from that a Great Little Phone!!!

poor menu setup and crappy theme lets the phone down.

very good phone the applications are brilliant and I very much enjoy the music player on it, the camera is qiuck and easy to use aswell. also it is not hard at all to recieve and view your texts and phone calls either. there is a good variety of games to, also it is moderately light so it isn't heavy when you put into your pocket. The style is I think very modern and in my oppinion more stylish then most of the phones in it's category.
However whatever wallpaper you may have on it sometimes the phone puts it back to the stock one so you have to add it as your wallpaper again which isn't that hard but when in a rush can be a bit stressful. But overall I very much like this phone and would definetly recommend it to anyone.

i paid £30 FOR IT AND YOU KNOW IT DOES WHAT IT SUPPOSED TO DO sound is good, reception good, nice and slim for pockets load ring if needed, photos are ok well fine for ebay pics, i have had slide phones and they just get flimsier and flimsier so its nice to have a solid phone thats not a brick
it just works, worth £30 ANY DAY

Bought this phone about 1 week ago previously having owned an Ericsson W302, which was a stylish but ordinary phone. The styling I would say is average, but the predictive text is very good and quick, although caps only is a bit disappointing. Generally speaking navigating around is fast, and simple.
The camera is very good for a 2mp job, the W302 was more expensive but image quality definitely inferior. Battery life good and the Radio self tunes swiftly.
A real dislike is the amount of silly button pushing you need to do before you send a text, really irritating and unnecessary, disappointing when writing the message is so quick.
It does not have gadgety things like dancing smilies and on most phones when you write a text and hold down the button you get its number, on this one you need to come out of the menu select numeric input key in the number, and then when you have finished then reselect alphanumeric input. Ring tones are utterly naff but there's plenty of other naff ones to choose from.
All said and done for the money it is very good £26.50 with orange discount excluding top up ~ can't go wrong for the money.

I only bought this phone to last me a month whilst I was waiting for a better phone, but I have to admitt that I was pleasantly surprised by what i got for my £30. Previous reviews seem to complain about the fact default text is capitals, all it takes is the click of a key to change it to lower case...it's not hard. I found phone calls were more then adequate and sending texts was simple. I do however agree that there are more than enough submenus, but for £30 i didn't expect perfection. The overall look of the Rome is sleek and stylish. I would deffinatly recommend this phone to a friend looking for a cheap, easy to use and all around nice phone. =D.

having read some comments below, i conculde that peoples expectations are too high, theyre comparing the ROME to their Blackberrys etc!!! The screen for the price is good, the buttons is size is fine, cameras good, and yes the texting etc isnt as slick as more expensive phones, but what do you expect for the money you've barely spent.... The fact a 30 quid phone can have a 2MP camera, and be clear and easy to use, im happy. My only real annoyance is there are too many submenus between every function and orange customer services for payg (in general) are useless!

After having read these reviews I thought I had bought a different phone as the majority of comments are a load of rubbish.
I had to check I did have an Orange Rome phone.
Firstly you don't need a car charger lead as you have a USB lead with it so all you need is a car adaptor with a USB socket in it.(not rocket science)
Screen quality is very good.
As far as the background always changing the owner obviously hasn't switched off the Flick sensor which changes the screen if you shake it.
So you can only type messages in either lower or upper case so what,at least in upper case you can read them easily. The predictive works fine.
Yes it may have some eccentricities such as the ring tones are a bit naff but for the price it's bloody marvelous.
After all if all you are basically looking for is a phone to speak to people on it can't be faulted though it does have many other functions especially a good camera and it is tri band to boot.
For £29 bring it on.

Maybe at 40 I'm getting old but I'm very surprised at the other reviews posted here because I think the Orange Rome is actually well worth the cost. It's sleek, stylish, robust handset fits perfectly in your pocket. It has functions galore including camera, video capture,FM radio, bluetooth and supports MP3.You can also charge the battery from your PC's usb port which is great while browsing the web.It cost £40-the same as my Nokia which didn't even have a memory card slot! After years with awful Virgin Mobile this is my first phone with Orange and I'm very impressed with network and phone.Downsides?Well I must agree the screen is poor in sunlight and the tones are naff(you can download your own you know?) but the positives far outway the negatives.
At last I've got a phone I'm not ashamed to take out of my pocket!Thank You Orange.

I am glad i did not read the other reviews before i bought this phone. It is stylish, easy to use and must be one of the best value for money phones on the market. It has a good selection of ring tones and all my friends think it is great. I think the other reviwers have forgoten how cheap it was.
