Good Times
This became our initial visit. Having chatted to associates and studying the opinions I was quit hopeful for dining here. The service was really ideal. Very attentive. The climate was stress-free yet inviting. They're going the additional distance guaranteeing their guests are content. This became the prettiest bowl That i've ever had!I suggest this restaurant for those who love cooking. Very accomodating staff members, and always there when you need them.

Great Food - Service Is Appalling
I've been here twice since the refurbishment. The venue is very comfortable and has been decorated tastefully. The food is also excellent.
However, the service and staff training leave a lot to be desired. It is slow and with a 'don't care' attitude.
It is such a shame because with a little training and more pride in their work the staff could make this a real gem.

Very Pleasantly Satisfied!
Curious to see what King Rufus was like post refurb in March this year, we popped along and were not disappointed! We both ordered starters, mains and desserts - having been given some persuasive recommendations from our server.
Meals were served quickly, all were presented very nicely and most importantly the hot food was hot.
A great range of real ales and drinks in all, a good affordable menu and polite and courteous staff, we will definitely be returning and recommending to all of our family and friends in the area.

Just Returned From The New King Rufus And Will Not
Just returned from the new King Rufus and will not be returning. We went particularly for the 25% off offer that is advertised between the hours of 3.30-6.30. We arrived at 5.45 (there were 13 of us including 2 small children) Service was very slow but we did get our meal orders in before 6.30. During the meal we had a few niggles such as lack of condiments, no child friendly cutlery, no vegetarian gravy but we were celebrating a family birthday & didn't want to make a fuss so made the best of the evening, enjoying each others company & the food was ok...... However when the bill arrived, my husband being the gent that he is quickly settled the bill & returned to the table (as he didn't want any arguments over who would pay!) It was only afterwards that he checked the receipt & noticed that only 4 of the meals had had the 25% taken off. He went to query this & the staff said that whilst the order was being put through the till it had turned 6.30 at the 5th meal which is why we had to pay full price for the rest! Absolutely outrageous! They wouldn't budge on this & the manageress said that she could understand our frustrations (sounded very well rehearsed!) But there was nothing she could do as the bill had been paid!
I would only recommend you go here if you don't value good customer service and arrive before 5 as we really wonder if the waitress was so slow taking our order on purpose! One Birthday party ruined, really wish we'd had a takeaway!

The King Rufus Has Been Tarted Up (and The Express
The King Rufus has been tarted up (and the expression is appropriate) recently. Much of the old character has gone and the menu is much less interesting. In future we will be going to the local Harvester where the menu food is rather similar but costs two thirds as much as the King Rufus. Harvester also provide a free salad bar and roll.
The Harvester menu is more expensive than the King Rufus - have just been to Ham Farm and had a terrible experience!

My Partner And I Went To The King Rufus Lunchtime
My partner and I went to the King Rufus lunchtime today. We ordered our drinks at the bar and found a seat in the beer garden. Not many parasols in spite of the sun. We ordered a sandwich each, after 35 min our sandwiches finally arrived, with out any condiments, cutlery or napkins. We had almost finished our drinks. My sandwich was listed as Wensleydale cheese with sweet peppers. The cheese was cubed into minute pieces and there was a tiny sprinkling on top of the peppers and couldn't be tasted at all. Very disappointed and will not be recommending this place or visiting it again. The plastic flowers outside the pub are a big joke in Chandlers Ford.

The King Rufus Is A Lovely Pub Situated In The Sma
The King Rufus is a lovely pub situated in the small town of Chandler's Ford. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting. The pub is always kept to a good standard, clean and tidy and well looked after. There is a large beer garden out the back filled with plenty of picnic tables. It's always nice sitting out there in the sun. The outside of the building seems to be always covered in nice flowers, and hanging baskets.
The King Rufus serves good beer, ale and food, and there is always plenty of choice on the menu. From memory, they have a good wine list as well. The King Rufus caters for all really, whether you've popped out for a nice family dinner, or if you prefer a more civilised sit down meal with some friends or a partner.
There is plenty of parking space as well, which is always a bonus. I've never had a problem or a complaint, so I'd fully recommend the King Rufus.
