I Was Blown Away By The Bourne Dance Adaptation Of

I was blown away by the Bourne dance adaptation of Dorian Gray. Bourne maintains his title as the UK's number one choreographer. He really has brought dance to the masses.

The set design was simple but effective

The score was contemporary with a classical twist

The choreography was amazing and full of emotional charge

I give the biggest credit to the dancers who were amazing. The tight choreography could at best be described as challenging however, they managed to pull it off without a fault.

If you can get tickets Michael Bourne's Dorian Gray is definately a must see. I'm going to book for his Swan Lake production at Christmas!

What A Show! Matthew Bourne's Adaptation Of Oscar

What a show! Matthew Bourne's adaptation of Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray was simply superb in my opinion. I went to see it at Sadler's Wells last night and it was a packed house. For those who don't know the story, it's about today's obsession with celebrity and a contemporary take on the world of politics and art. The cast are superb and Richard Winsor as the lead is just fantastic. Richard manages to depict Dorian's innocence at the start of the show which such purity that it is disturbing to see how he has changed by the end of the performance. His once beautiful persona changes to become so evil as he pursues a life of self gratification which ultimately leads to his downfall in a drug and sex obsessed world. Matthew Bourne's choreography fits the up-tempo music perfectly from the more intimate and quite erotic scenes to the staccato club scenes and just adds to the powerful performances as you feel driven along by it all. The set design and costumes are also worth mentioning as the black and white theme combines to highlight the good, evil and corruptness of Dorian's world throughout. The stage set is based on a clever revolving platform which allows the quick changes to happen easily and smoothly.

This is the first time that I have been to see a dance production on this scale and I can safely say that I am now hooked and will be booking to see something else soon.
