M. G. Sanchez, Diary of a Victorian Colonial and other Tales.

I am so excited to have read this book. It is a fictional recreation of life in late nineteenth century Gibraltar. The story follows the fortunes of Mr Charles Bestman, an Anglo-Gibraltarian emigre returning to Gibraltar after years abroad. Won't say much here about the circumstances behind his return, as it would spoil the plot, but the story itself gives us a very vivid and very believable view(I actually believed at one point that I was readaing an actual diary!) of what life must have been like in 19C Gib! A very interesting book for anyone who has ever wondered what life must have been like in Victorian Gibraltar!
