“Good service but faulty product”

The staff were very helpful and quick to respond to queries. The computer was a good price and it arrived on time. HOWEVER, it arrived with faults in the hard drive, GPU, headphone input and other things. The good service is no use if the product itself is faulty. When you buy a new computer, you want a new computer and not one in need of repair on day 1. Considering the many good reviews I just count myself as unlucky, but it is extremely frustrating. I do not doubt that the computer passed all the testing and was fine at the test center, I suspect it took a knock or something in transit. This can happen to any computer or good purchased over distance, but someone must be responsible for it and that is the supplier (Arbico). I consider this a case of bad luck and it is likely I will give Arbico a second chance.

“I ordered a computer system from Arbico about a year...”

I ordered a computer system from Arbico about a year ago and paid around 1500 pounds for it. It arrived when they told me, but within two weeks of using it, I started seeing problems such as:

The computer would not boot, necessitating that I open it and change the RAM around or remove the graphics card, boot, then reinstall it and boot again. Only then could I get to Windows.
Artifacts would appear on the screen when playing a video game, at random times.
The computer would crash on random times but especially when multi-tasking
It would also not come out of sleep properly, the eSata ports did not work and the power supply fan temperature was not showing up on the diagnostics screen.

Needless to say I was infuriated. I called Arbico, the guys were very helpful, arranged to pick up the machine at their own expense in order to look into the problems, but it took a week for me to get it back.

When I finally got it back, it was in an even worse state than when it left me! Now it would never boot to Windows!

After this I asked for a refund, however on consideration of the time wasted so far (It had been more than one month since I first received the system) I decided to see it through. Eventually Arbico and I determined that it was the graphics card's fault and they sent me a new one, but that took an extra week...

At that point all problems documented above were solved, apart from the eSata one. The eSata ports still don't work...

To sum up, they finally got it right, but I would not recommend them to a friend. For the amount of money I paid Arbico, I would expect that they get it right the first time and not cause me such stress!

Hi

We are sorry about the problems you faced with the PC.

We always test our PCs thoroughly before shipment to make sure that customers get fully working PCs. If a PC breaks down, as a reputable and customer service focused company, we have to bring it back (i.e. collect it), test it again to find any faults, replace any faulty items and retest it, and then ship the PC back to our customer. This means that any faulty PC leads not only to an unsatisfied customer but also additional expense that we have to incur for which we don’t get any additional payment. So it would make very little business sense for us not to use high quality components or to send the PC out without thorough testing.

However, once in a while either due to transit damage or due to some other problems, PCs will break down. In such cases we try our best to try and resolve issues as soon as possible to minimize the inconvenience for our customers.

This is why we offer a free collect and return warranty to all our customers covering them against any problems when the PC is first received. As you state above the PC was collected and returned to you for free when it would not work when you received it. It is not possible to pick up and return PCs in quicker than 1 week because we obviously need to diagnose the problem, replace faulty parts and then re-test the PC thoroughly before shipment.

Receiving the PC back with a fault again after it having coming back to us once is extremely rare. We thank you for your patience in sticking with us and are glad that your problem has now been resolved. If your eSATA ports are not working please do get in touch and we can arrange to bring your PC back under warranty or ship you a PCI or PCI-E card with ESATA ports, whichever option suits you better.

Once again our sincere apologies for the problems you had. Please do get in touch if we can do anything to make this up to you.

Sounds like they actually treated you very well. You're review says more about your own unrealistic expectations than Arbico's level of service. Sometimes random things go wrong but it's how the company you bought it from responds that's the important thing, and Arbico seem to have done everything possible to resolve your problem. Talk about ungrateful. At least your review does show they have have excellent customer service.

“I received my computer built to spec on time and...”

I received my computer built to spec on time and initially I was very happy with the service provided. Things unfortunately started to go quite badly wrong, on the odd occassion I would get a blue screen informing me it was performing an emegency crash dump - as this was only a very occassional occurrence i put it down to "one of those things" and did not pay it much attention.

Then about three months after my purchase it would not boot up at all, on contacting Arbico they said I may have corrupt memory ( I knew this wasn't the case and informed them but the tech guy just wouldn't listen) so they sent me out a memtest disk and it did show errors, on advising them this they sent me out replacement memory but requested an £80 depoosit - none too happily I paid it to try and get my computerup and running again.

As I stated to them right at the start it was not the memory so I oalled back and spoke to another tech guy whop couldn't understand why the first one had said it was the memory as it quite obviously wasn't, he advised it looked like the hard drive was faulty (my inital assumptiom) and he would post me out a new one for another deposit - this time £50. I fitted the hard drive and re-insatlled everything and happily my computer is now working fine after a month without it going back and forth to Arbico, I sent them the memory and hard drive back registered post expecting my refund. After 2 weeks no funds were returned to me so I gave them a call and was told they would look in to it and call me back - i verified my telephone number and awaited their call, it never came - this happened three times until I spoke to a "supervisor" (I use this term very loosely) who advised that they had not received the goods back and I would not be getting a refund. Unfortunately I have misplaced my receipt for the registered delivery so unless I get a tracking number I have lost £130 for a bit of kit I didn't need and a replacement piece for a faulty bit they initially supplied.

I have to say the money is not the issue here but the fact my computer was down for over a month only three months after I bought it and the very fact they required a deposit along with not calling me back or listening to my thoughts initially has left me with a very bad impression of this company - I will never be using them again nor will any of my gamer friends.

“Spent £1200 on a i7 860 quad core PC with a 5850 ATI...”

Spent £1200 on a i7 860 quad core PC with a 5850 ATI graphics card. The computer was well made and build quality was high. I however encountered problems with WEI (windows experience index). I cannot get a score for WEI with this PC. I get error messages saying that I have a hardware/software problem.

I contacted Arbico to ask them about this and they told me that they are hardware experts and not software experts and they cant help. What a joke! I have tried updating all drivers and still no joy. I have been monitoring the event viewer and I have quite a few errors suggesting that the PC has some sort of problem


I am not happy with customer services and would not buy from them again!
