I do not normally write reviews, however, if it prevents anyone else from using this company it will be worth it. We pre-booked Goldcar at Malaga airport on the 18th July for a week as we could collect the car at the airport. We were issued a ticket & had to wait until our number came up before we could approach the collection desk. Hired a car at Malaga airport. I have 3rd party insurance so didnt want Goldcar's insurance. I wasnt given an option, the woman behind the desk just charged my card. Only when I realised what she was doing did I ask for a refund. Which she did. She then didnt give me any paperwork, I thought I would get an email. Nothing of course, so nothing to hand back when I returned the car. So got charged. Car return was also awful huge queue and they couldnt cope. Will never ever use Goldcar again. “Avoid them”

Usual story you will find repeated about this awful, immoral company. I booked a car at Faro airport, paid in advance with Holiday Autos so the only transaction I expected on my card was the pre-authorization deposit. It was during the covid 19 lockdown so only 1 person at a time allowed in office, the desk clerk was behind a perspex screen with a little cut out for the card machine and passing keys and rental forms. “Not reliable company”

This was not the first time i rented a car with Goldcar in Lisbon. I had had a bad experience with them before and should not have used their services again. I rented a car with them again in February. They charged me 75 euros for the fuel on the policy of reimbursement when returning the car with full tank. After a month and having not been reimbursed I contacted them and was told i had to introduce a claim online. Which i did, although i don’t agree with the principle. Goldcar and Interrent seem to be the same company as my contract was with Interrent but it was signed in Goldcar’s office in Malaga airport and it was Goldcar that deducted €270 for fictitious damage (Feb 18, 2020). “Avoid like the Coronovirus.”

My story is so similar to others on this forum that I now believe this routine is part of Goldcar/Europcar/Interrent's business model. This was in Gran Canaria. I returned their car and pointed out certain significant damage that was present when I took the vehicle. They are obliged to give you a consumer form to fill in for cases of malpractice, overcharging, rudeness or bad service. If they refuse to give you a 'Hoja de Reclamaciones' (pronounced Oka day reklamtheeones) call the local police, who will arrive and insist on pain of prosecution. Your 'Hoja' will be dealt with sympathetically and you will likely get an apology and refund.
I was treated very badly by them, laughed at, told that the faulty handbrake did not matter, would not sign to that effect until they realised that I was speaking Spanish and mentioned the 'Hojas' You may be able to do this from outside Spain and in English... not sure Nil Iligiti Carborundum . interesting - the same has happened to me, €270 fraudulently deducted for fictitious damage. I wish I could speak Spanish!
