Marvellous feel-good musical which I've seen twice (in 2009) and would see again. I'm a very critical member of an audience but this show was executed superbly with excellent performances from all - lead actors to chorus. Fun, fun fun! I cannot recommend this show enough. See it!

“This is one of the best musicals I have seen recently....”

This is one of the best musicals I have seen recently. Be warned it's camper than Christmas but that is half the fun. There really is little to fault with Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Even though the palace theatre looks grand from the outside it's actually quite an intimate theatre within which makes it challenging to set a production like Priscilla. Quite literally they need to fit a bus on stage. It sounds tough but the set designers really did pull it off.

The costumes really made this show. Step aside danny la rue (god rest his soul) this show takes camp and kitsch to another level.

The singing didn't disappoint either. I was wondering before I went in whether everything would be mimmed which would take the edge off it. Instead, all singing was live, they had three amazing female singers literally suspended by wires over the drag queens.

Jason Donovan was good as the lead, his voice could be classified as weak however he managed to stay in tune and deliver on the night. For me the actor playing bernice really pulled it off. Her comic timing was absolutely spot on.

There was a technical glitch a few moments into the first half but the whole cast of priscilla queen of the desert managed to rise above it and delivery a standing ovation at the end.

A word of warning...the humour can be a little adult at times. If you are very easily offended then it is not for you. For me personally, it was a laugh a minute.

Loved it...thinking about seeing priscilla again.

“Priscilla Queen of the Desert musical is camptastic!!...”

Priscilla Queen of the Desert musical is camptastic!! If you thought Mamma Mia was camp then you haven't seen anything yet. I had forgotten how small the Palace Theatre actually was and at first wondered how they were going to manage such a huge production on the small stage but those thoughts were soon banished when the action started. Priscilla is loud, confident and brash and contains many of the jokes and one liners from the original film. In a nutshell, the storyline is about three friends who come together and unite on a journey aboard a bus to the centre of Australia, where the central character Tick has arranged put on a drag show for a month long stint at the local casino.

The costumes and (sometimes simple) props are both hilarious and amazing. The three main characters live up to expectations with Jason Donovan even poking fun at his old Neighbours character. I thought that Jason Donovan held his own in the play and was good choice to play Tick alongside Tony Sheldon who was superb as Terrence Stamps Bernadette. Oliver Thornton was also good at what is arguably the hardest part to live up to compared to Guy Pearce's superb Adam. The music swings you along like an unstoppable train and you have to restrain yourself from actually getting up and dancing throughout. It should be pointed out that the main difference between the original film and the stage show is that the film contained a lot of Abba music which has been substituted for Kylie for the stage show.

I saw the Priscilla production last night and not even a small technical glitch which halted the production for about 10 minutes spoilt it for me and I'm already keen to book up again. I can see this becoming one of the long runners in London's West End just because it is good old fashioned entertainment and lets face it, we all need some light relief at times! For a stage show that lasts nearly three hours (interval included) it passes extremely quickly. One last thing, if you fancy really hamming it up then buy one of the themed cocktails at the interval which comes in a day-glow glass which changes colour - all yours for £10 and yes you get to keep the glass well it seemed like a good idea at the time!

Go see Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical now it really is great fun.
