The "chains" on my blind are made of a fabric rope. The rope is coloured to be the same colour as the blind. It looks good.
The quality is good and the mechanism is sturdy and reliable.
If young children are present and the blinds are accessible I would of course make sure that a cord safety mechanism is used.

I have had my blinds nearly a year now, the mechanism I chose is in durable white plastic. Still looking good and working very smoothly. Very pleased with quality. It's the same with everything, treat with respect and I'm sure they will last for years. Hope this helps.

The chains on my Roman Balinese are plastic and extremely durable. They still look as new and I can't fault them in any way. My blackout Roman blinds are fantastic and I can only highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy new blinds.

Hi AnnabelK. I have bought over a dozen of times from Concept Blind Direct. I have bought Venetian wooden and aluminium blinds, roller blinds and blackout roller blinds, PVC washable roller blinds , vertical blinds but I never got roman blinds. I can assure you all my blinds are still in great conditions, the mechanism and the chain either in metal or in plastic looks good and strong. I had never replaced any chain so far even after years. I am very confident the quality of the roman blinds supplied and delivered will be just as good as the other blinds I had ordered in the past. Deeply recommended. Riccardo

I am sorry that we missed your question when asked, I was not actually aware of this section. I can confirm that the standard chains on our Roman blinds are a White beaded cord which is actually very durable. For an additional cost, we supply three metal chain colours (Chrom, Black and Antique) all of which are (like the White chain) very durable. The only think I would say is that if you are installing the Roman blind in a humid environment, do not go for the metal chain option as it may start to rust which in turn may start to discolour the fabric.
