Almost All "carbonara" Sauces Are Fairly Nasty - U
Almost all "carbonara" sauces are fairly nasty - unfortunately most english people can't cook at all so do not know what carbonara (or ragu) should look or taste like. However, this "sauce" outdoes them all for lack of flavour, complete departure from the original dish (water and cream???) and sheer grey gloopiness. Avoid it - just buy eggs, pancetta, some pecorino, and the best pasta you can afford and you'll have something 100 times better than this gastronomical disaster.

Like the other reviewers I used to love this sauce. I had it tonight and thought it was off as it was a horrible watery grey colour and it was completely tasteless. I had to throw it out - what a waste of pasta and money!
I find whenever anything is 'new and improved' it means it's now going to taste horrible - they must do it to save money or something!

Used to be fantastic. Now it's "new & improved". It's like wallpaper paste, feels like it's packed with gelatine, is runny and nasty, taste's of little. It used to be REALLY creamy, and a perfect pasta-mix. Now it just soaks in to the pasta, makes it sticky and 'orrible, and tastes of nothing. Yuck. I have written to Dolmio (you should do the same!!) and told them that I shan't buy any more until I know it's good again. Not to make a point, just because it's NASTY.

Totally agree with what the others have said. We have had Dolmio express carbonara sauce religiously every Friday for years, dubbed "Carbonara Friday". The sauce used to be incredibly tasty.
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end as this "NEW RECIPE" is genuinely vile! The sauce is now gelatinous in texture, bland in taste, and the colour, well it has none, it's like a translucent grey. In all seriousness, think of wallpaper paste and you'll get an idea of the texture and colour, and I wouldn't be surprised if they tasted the same too!
Like the others here we have stopped buying this sauce, and I would advise others to stay clear of it. Dolmio, please sort this out and revert to the OLD RECIPE, I'm sure there are many others who feel the same but aren't sad enough to complain.
I completely agree with you, I used to have this sauce maybe 3 times a week because I loved it and the new recipe is simply disgusting - it has no taste whatsoever and resembles a paste rather than the lushious creamy taste it used to have... it's a real shame, I wish they'd use the old recipe!

I Too Am Seriously Disappointed With The New Recip
I too am seriously disappointed with the NEW recipe, it is no longer creamy and the bacon bits are now processed ham, I could make a better tasting pasta using dirty dish washing-up water and a few herbs. Mars definitely need new taste testers. When I poured it over my pasta, I thought that the package had gone off, it was so colourless, it looked like cream made with 2% milk powder, and tasted much the same.

Just what have they done to this sauce. Where as it used to be creamy and luxuriant, it is now a greyish, watery, tasteless, pointless mess. why on earth did they change it.

Brought this product ever since it was introduced. Used to be a very good, no, great product. For some reason they have now changed the recipe and it definately isn't as good as it was in fact it's terrible. last time i buy it.
