“Whilst this V2MAL V2 Sponge works well on the outside...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/07/2009

Whilst this V2MAL V2 Sponge works well on the outside of scratch resistant visors, it can ruin the finish on your crash helmet and will destroy (as accepted by the director of the company when I complained to them (and don't expect a positive response)) the anti fog coating on the inside of the visor. It leaves a foggy scratchy surfice leaving you with an unusable visor and a bill for a new one (in my case £80).

You have been warned!!!!!

“I'm quite precious about my helmet visors. I like...”

★★★★★

written by Shish on 29/04/2009

I'm quite precious about my helmet visors. I like them utterly spotless and grease-free at all times.

Like many riders, I just used a rag or tissue to clean my visors of insects (well, a Zymol microfibre cloth; I really am precious about it).

However, I really didn't like doing it too often because it's a trade off between cleaning the visor and creating those fine scratches that cause misting of the visor over time as fine dirt particles and insect remnants get dragged over the surface of the visor.

This sponge is brilliant. I clean my visor every ride now, knowing I'm simply not going to get that misting. You don't have to press that hard with this sponge, but it's amazing the way it seems to just lift the debris away from the surface of the visor, no matter how hard you do press.

Anyone with an iridium visor will know how careful you have to be to avoid damaging the coating. I don't really even think about it anymore.

I got into the habit of replacing my visors once every couple of years, but I just don't feel the need anymore because of this little sponge.

You flush it with water and carry it in it's own sealed bag, along with two lint-free cloths, so it's very convenient to use, too.

When mine are too old to service my visors, I use them on my TFT monitors and car windows.

Due to popular demand, they've released a larger version of this sponge, for headlights and the like. However, I want a much, much bigger one so I can wash my car and bikes with it, without worrying about dragging grit over my lovely paintwork.

I gave one of these packs to my--very cynical--riding instructor, and now he keeps a stock of these and recommends them to every student who walks though the door.
