East Mids Hire, Nottingham

Mid East Hire is a small car-hire company in the East Midlands. Though they appear to be a cheap and credible company,it appears to us that they are manipulating foreign customers by finding ways of not returning their deposits. Last week I rented a car with my family and when my sister attempted to return the car, they took advantage of her inability to speak the English language properly. The manager coerced her into thinking that she has to pay £1000 because there was a minor "damage" mark. When we returned later to discuss the issue with them, we found that the damage was just dirt, and when wiped was no longer damage. Finally, and I think because we complained about this treatment, they still did not return us the deposit, saying that there was other damage (imperceptible mark, which doesn't even appear in the picture that we took). Furthermore, not only did we lose our deposit (£200), but we has to pay an extra £100 charge. The abusive sales supervisor was smug at this point and would not relent on his treatment of us. In addition, the rest of the people in the office were silent, no one tried to help us with this person that was abusing us, and they avoided any eye contact with us, since they knew we were been swindled.
