This Is A Plasma Tv And Its Absolutely Fantastic.
This is a plasma tv and its absolutely fantastic. Its not "full HD" so its not 1080p but its 1080i instead (so its "HD ready"). That's about as technical as I want to get about the Panasonic TH42PX80.Picture quality from Freeview (Humax) is excellent, from upscaled DVD source (Sony Blu-ray player) it is superb, standard DVD look great too. We don't have Sky/Virgin or any HD sources. We've plugged a Wii console to it and its brilliant. Ok, its not the full beans in terms of features or quality (its no match for a £2000 Pioneer) but it is a budget model from Panasonic which suits us because we're not heavy TV users. I bought it about 8 months ago within my budget for around £640 from John Lewis online AND they included a free 5-year guarantee within the price. Can't complain really even though the sound from it isn't the best. Its adequate for us but many people would easily prefer to plug it into a quality sound system. I've got an old 5.1 sound system one from my old TV but vanity prevents me from plugging it in to the Panny (colours don't match!) and I'm too tight to buy a new one right now.All in all a top buy at this price range. Well worth doing the research for it.
I found this review very helpful because...I have the same set and agree with everything that has been written. There are very few chances to get the quality of this set at the price paid. I paid £618 from Amazon.
