Something gies wrong there is no accountability and they try to sell you a second product to resolve the problem. hung up on me and didn’t call back as agreed. Stay far away from this company as possible as they promise but don’t deliver

I totally agree with this comment, had accomodation booked in London, trains cancelled from Manchester due to disruption day after Rail strike, Travelzoo would not refund or even email a cancelation email to use on my travel insurance. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Use BOOKING instead, at least they have a half decent cancellation policy! Asking for details email is just a smoke screen, you will get no help of "travelzoo team member" just dont use them.

“Travel zoo will not refund me after cancelling a trip”

I have written to them twice to get a refund for a food tour that was cancelled. They have ignored my request to return my money and I will not be using travelzoo again for this reason. I purchased a voucher for food tour in San fransisco. They cancelled the tour and told me to write to get my refund. I have twice and not received any response. I will be continuing to write reviews of my experience on other websites to let people know this has been my experience with travelzoo.

“Supercar Experiance , ”

Hi booked a supercar experience with travel zoo, please please read the small print . they were advertising 3 cars on the supercar experience one which was a lamborghini, They said that the car had been crashed they did have another lamborghini but I would have to pay another £45 as it was a more expensive model , I Would never book with this company again they were no help they are only agents for the company that are advertising there car experience and have no real power to help you and the people at PERFORMANCE PORTFOLIO were no help. they would not accommodate me and wanted another £45 for driving a more expensive lamborghini , I have since looked through various reviews on trip advisor and its the same problem ,people don.t actually get the car they really want ,this was a present for my husband which they ruined , as the person that took my booking had not actually booked me in which actually had been booked 5 months before , just a really stress full experience .

“No customer service at all!”

Extremely unhappy with the lack of customer service from Travelzoo. Having purchased restaurant vouchers to use to book a meal for our anniversary, being careful to read the terms to ensure the vouchers were valid on the dates we wished to book and the voucher's expiry was well beyond the date we required we have come to book and the restaurant has ceased to exist without any notice! No it appears Travelzoo customer services are totally AWOL! Calling leads to an endless time spent on hold with an undefined number of other important customers apparently in the queue in front of you. The call back function offered does not work as no one calls you back. They do not respond to emails, tweets, facebook posts/private messages and so I am now left extremely frustrated, disappointed and without any guidance as to how to obtain a refund or transfer the unredeemed vouchers!!!!

“Seckford Hall Suffolk Restaurant ”

By far the worst TRAVELZOO deal we have ever had . The 3 course 'meal' comprised of portions so small they were inadequate to satisfy the most passionate dieter! The lamb trio consisted of 1 minute rib no bigger than a childs small finger plus a tiny cone of mashed potato and a single sweetbread ! The Sea Bass main course was just as inadequate , a portion of fish the size of just one fish finger on a square of lettice .  Before we consider a restaurant voucher we will seek to find out the nature of the meal rather than trust TRAVELZOO's description !

“Appalling”

Bought a voucher for my fiance's birthday. It seems if you're organised and buy far in advance you cannot refund the voucher. We turned up to the hotel which was not how I imagined it to be, tried a different room, the meals included were just roasts etc etc not worth the hundreds of $$ spent. Spoke to the hotel manager, he was understanding said we could apply for a refund but would have to go through travelzoo. After waiting a week for travelzoo to get back to me I had to call again for them to say they'd email again. Finally said I'd bought the voucher months ago so there was no option for a refund. The whole point of using travelzoo was to save money and in the end I spent double because we had to go to another hotel last minute. Work on your refund policy travelzoo its appalling!!!!!

recently purchased vouchers for hop on hop off in Boston. We are from Western Canada. When we visited Boston on a short stopover it was pouring rain, no view out of buses, so we didn't use our vouchers. The vouchers can still be purchased till end of October. When I asked for a refund I was told it was 7 days from date I had purchased. The vouchers are still good if I happened to know someone who might be visiting Boston. So be aware, so much for planning ahead...

“beware of Thoresby Hall spa offer”

Booked a spa day for 2 via travelzoo to attend in September. Read all the details and screenshot them for future reference. Tried to book day and found we had been 'allocated' a date in May so the voucher had expired! Travelzoo didn't repond to first email and refused to credit or allow advertised dates after the second email. Beware!

Our finance department do carry out checks on companies before we promote their deals. We use that information to try to ensure the company is stable financially. In this case everything checked out at the time we carried out our checks. As we publish the deal and then pass our visitors over to the travel company to book directly with them we don't know who booked and who didn't. The travel companies do not share that information with us. Therefore we can't let those that booked know. We also only promote travel companies that are bonded to ensure our subscribers are protected should this situation arise.

“Totally screwed me”

Booked a holiday through them, one week before i was meant to leave the company selling the package collapses leaving me without any money and no holiday. Clearly not checking the companies advertising holidays through them!

“Read the fine prints”

They have soooo much on the fine prints. The hotel charged me a taxes at the time of the check out, because I had bought from Travelzoo. The hotel that I stayed at would have been exactly the same price if I had booked directly from the hotel and would have included tax. I have stayed at many hotels and resorts and the price that you pay always includes tax and I never have to pay the tax at the time of check out.

“Terrible profiteering company”

We were kindly given a voucher at Christmas by my wife's aunt for a dinner in London. It transpire that the voucher lasted only about 4 months which is very short in our experience. I contacted travelzoo a few weeks after it ran out asking how I could renew it. We've been lucky enough to have had a few gift experiences in the past (not with this company I hasten to add) and I have had this once in the past with buyagift.com - they were happy to renew the voucher, albeit for a small admin fee. After a month and a follow up email I eventually received a reply saying that it had expired and there is nothing they could do. I then phoned and spent a long time with someone who eventually told me they would get back to me when they'd spoken to their manager. Later I got an email saying no again. I then sent yet another email asking why I couldn't pay for the admin fee to renew it like other companies and was told that they are 'unable' to honour it. Let me reiterate, the voucher is for a standard meal in a restaurant that isn't booked until we phone up so travelzoo have NO outlay for this at all. The experiences are still available! They are however able to keep the money and provide absolutely no service what so ever for it. They have not made any effort at all to help us and despite my best efforts have not offered to talk about renewing at all. In my opinion their business model is based on short term vouchers with the hope people end up loosing their money to them. They are an astoundingly arrogant, greedy companyand I implore you to please not go anywhere near them. DO read all these many poor reviews and DONT give this mob your money

“Worst Customer Service ever”

Bought two vouchers for massages at Kim Laudati in Manhattan (200$) end of May. After finally getting hold on the phone of them after1 (!!!) week (no one ever called back), they told us that they were booked out until the end of July - no word of that on the imbecile TZ webpage / you could expect that sort of service for the price though. As we left NYC at the beginning of June we thought Travelzoo would refund us - think again. It took them 3 days to reply to my email stating that they cant do anything as we are over the 7 days item exchange they can not reimburse us at all and we should give the voucher to relatives in NYC (not existing). TERRIBLE!!!

“Travelzoo Customer Service = NON EXISTANT”

I tried Travelzoo for the first time and was exposed to high pressure sales tactics from their vendor Casablanca Express. The bottom line is Casablanca did not deliver & Travelzoo would not refund. I would never use this site again and others should beware of this site.

“really poor web experience”

One of the worst websites I have come across, total lack of GOOD user experience, badly layed out, and badly designed, you keep getting hounded by pop-ups and links advertised else where just simple do not work. Steer very clear of this site, you will get very annoyed otherwise you have been warned. I would give it 0 stars, but the lowest is 1 !!!

“over selling of vouchers.”

I have booked a spa experince for two people, voucher doesnt run out until 30th june. I rang spa to book my friend and I in only to be told the dates I want are fully booked and in fact that only 3 days are left for availability until voucher expires. I contacted customer services and expressed my annoyance that I was unable to book a suitable day fir my experince and that travelzoo had over sold the vouchers. There response was I should have booked the date I wanted as soon as I bought the vouchers but I was giving one as a birthday gift so needed to see what dates my friend could do. Travelzoo told me as there was still days available I was not entiltled to a refund and offered no solution. I dont want a refund, I want my spa day. When I spoke again to the spa the few days they have left my friend and I would have to have treaments after each other, almost as if they are squeezing us in, not worth the £90 I paid. Will never use travel again.

“OVERBOOKED CARNARVON ARMS”

I booked and paid for this deal back in Feb for my partners birthday but due to a knee operation we have been unable to book until now (expires end April). When I emailed the Carnarvon Arms they came back to me and said they were unable to take the booking and Travelzoo were aware. I emailed Travelzoo on Sunday night and heard back from them yesterday (thursday) 3.24pm and they have a 2 working day get back to you!!! Their reply was basic and we will refund your card!! Terrible customer service, especially when there are so many sites out there offering the same or better. I liked them up until now but this is so disappointing and quite obviously overbooked by them.

“No refund past 7 days!!!!!!!!”

I have bought TravelZoo deals before and have been happy with the customer service, until now! I bought a 2-night stay at a B&B. When I realized I couldn't get the time off work to use it before the expiration date (Sunday-Thursday check-in). I called to request a refund. I was told, "sorry, there's nothing I can do since it is past the 7 days." I then requested a TravelZoo credit so I can apply it towards another trip in the future. Again, sorry. I was told that I can use it at the hotel after the expiration date, but I would lose the value of the deal. Or I could sell it myself or give it away as a gift. Really? I will not buy another TravelZoo deal in the future and will unsubscribe from all emails. BUYER BEWARE!! Unless you are 100% sure that you will have no foreseen circumstances that will interfere with your use of a deal, DON'T BUY!

“Disappointing Customer Service”

We were bought a Travelzoo voucher as a Christmas present that offered a one night stay in a historic country mansion with breakfast, dinner and a bottle of fizz. Owing to a family member falling ill in January 2014 and various dates that were unavailable at the selected hotel in February 2014, we were unable to use it then (the voucher was for Sun-Thurs only). As there were no dates when my Wife and I were able to get time off work together in March, I first contacted the hotel to ask if we could pay extra and use it at a weekend but was told that they don't allow it to be used at the weekend because they have weddings on and don't like having Travelzoo guests there then. I was told by a Manager that there was nothing they could do as the terms and conditions were set by Travelzoo, they could not vary them and I would have to contact Travelzoo to ask for a refund or exchange. Next I contacted Travelzoo explaining the situation and asking if it would be possible to have the value of the voucher as credit to use on another voucher. The customer service agent I spoke with stated that there was nothing she could do and if I could not use it on Sun-Thurs then I should try selling it or giving it to someone else! I felt that this was quite cheeky of her and it offered no help in terms of resolving the situation we were in. I wouldn't have bothered contacting Travelzoo a month before it expired if I wanted to give it away or sell it instead of using it ourselves! Very disappointed with both the hotel and Travelzoo, there seems to be no degree of understanding with either of them and it seems the voucher is offered just so that the hotel can fill up its empty rooms during the week. We had not experienced problems when we used Travelzoo in the past but this has made me think that I very much doubt we will ever use them again.

Booked a deal for my son as a Christmas present on 9th December. They emailed on 12th to say I would receive the voucher in 5-7 working days - it arrived yesterday, 7th January. I don't think he's tried to book the hotel yet but I hope it's more successful than their posting policy. Would never use them again!!!

Evening I was really disappointed this evening. I was bought a leaving gift from my work colleagues at Christmas for a two course meal at Hotel Gotham in Manchester. Unfortunately when I went to book it tonight I realised that there was an expiry date 31/3/17. I thought the voucher was valid for 12 months. On ringing the Hotel they were highly dismissive and I did not think the customer service was acceptable at all. Whilst I have genuinely overlooked the duration of the voucher my colleagues have purchased a voucher with yourself. I do not feel that the response of the Hotel is a good reflection on your own company. I equally feel extremely bad that colleagues have paid for a gift which I can not enjoy. Some vouchers may have longer expiration dates than others, depending on when you purchase it.
