“Should be more than it is”

★★☆☆☆

Prices not too bad. Just can not for the life of me see why would sabotage their own standard of customer services. Let me get this straight; you invest in self service tills, then keep them shut, to create massive ques at the tills? Bizarre

“Slow/Pressure Cooker Liners - 5 Star!”

★★★★★

written by taurustime on 28/03/2020

I use my slow/pressure cooker regularly to batch cook but dread the aftermath of cleaning the pot afterwards, especially where thick sauces are concerned. I spotted a pack of Slow Cooker Liners - 5 for £1 - in Poundland and decided the give them a try. What a find! They looked pretty flimsy so I was not expecting to be overly impressed - but I was! Big enough to line the largest cooking pot, you simply line your pot with the bag, drop in your ingredients, cook and then NO MESS to clear up. DO NOT lift out the bag from the pot! Decant the contents, wait until the pot has cooled and the roll up the bag and throw it away. I suppose you could reuse the bag but at 20p each, it hardly seems worth it and defeats the 'no clean up' bonus. A quick wipe around the pot with a clean paper towel to remove condensation and that's it. Brilliant! I don't dread my batch cooking any more! 10 out of 10!

“Poor customer service from head office”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 123dhills on 25/02/2019

Frustrated with a long period engaged tone from my local branch, I decided to ring HQ. I asked the adviser if she had sealant in stock preferably Black Roof and Gutter sealant, she said have you got the bar code,I said you can't expect the customer to have the bar code, she said without the bar code I can't help you. I just hope with the likes of Poundworld closing and Poundland having the monopoly they don't come up with other ideas like the customer having the bar code to see if an item is in stock.

“My £14 went a long way. Heres what i got.”

★★★★★

written by MrTortoise23 on 14/04/2017

I went to poundland for the first time today having heard there some great deals on USB charging wires, HDMI cables Etc. I had about £15 to spend here. I have bought a total of 17 items, including several things i have wanted or needed recently. For a total of £13.60 Here is what i bought for my £13.60: 1) A Potato Peeler. I had been meaning to get a peeler for ages. (one of those things that never made it to the shopping list. A comfortably sized plastic handle, holding the swivelly blade. £1 - perfect. Looks and feels good quality. Overall Scores: Product=8/10 Value=8/10 2 and 3) Twenty SONY Batteries. here i got 10 pack (8+2 free) of SONY AAA zinc batteries, and a second packet of the larger AA size for half price. Totalling £1.50 for 20 batteries. Branded Quality batteries perfect for remote controls and my mouse/keyboard. Overall Scores: Product=9/10 Value9/10 4) A SignalEX Digital Indoor TV Arial. I dont watch live TV as i only use On-Demand apps to watch things over the internet. But I though id try this out as its only a pound. This looks cheap and plasticky at first glance. Upon unpacking I found the cable length to be very short. I plugged it in to my TV Screen and It actually works... Kind of. My TV has freeview built in (that ive never used) and this arial is picking up a few channels Ok. Its a bit of a game moving the thing around to pick up any other channels and the cable's too short. Il probably never use it (unless for some project requiring an arial), But it works. Overall Scores: Product=5/10 Value=7/10 5) A SignalEX 10 in 1 Remote Control. Another thing i wanted recently, in order to control my media center (RPi with KODI). I tried it on a TV just now to see if it works. Upon opening, Its made from that cheapo plastic. I followed the instructions and hey presto it works, kind of. The working buttons are channel up/down volume up/down, the number keys and the power button. Unfortunately volume buttons operate the wrong way round, but the price is unreal at £1. Overall Scores: Product=5/10 Value=9/10. 6, 7 and 8) 3 for £1 - Mr Fotherby's Herb Seeds packets. 1 packet of basil, 1 packet of coriander and 1 packet of parsley seeds. Yet another thing ive been meaning to buy for the windowsill. I use coriander and basic quite often in cooking and i just like to munch on stalks of parsley sometimes. Seems like a fair deal. I cant comment on the quality as i havent grown them yet. Overall Scores: Product=?/10 Value=8/10. 9)Hydro Coco - Coir Grow Cubes. Perfect for my seeds, These are squares of dried compressed soil inside unfoldable 1 Litre bags. You add water and the grow medium expands to fill the bag. Genius. They are a perfect size for the kitchen windowsill. These seem perfectly sized to grow my herbs in. Looks like a good quality product. Overall Scores: Product=8/10 Value=8/10 10) Tommy Walsh 5Pcs Paint Brush Set. Another thing that I need. I have recently bought some liquid latex, plaster and a bulk amount of modelling clay to experiment with mould making. I need some brushes to apply my first layers of latex to the original models to avoid bubbles on the mould surface. These brushes should do the job nicely. On closer inspection they are as good quality as most hardware store brushes that i've seen. At only 1 pound for 5, i can afford to destroy these with dried up latex. Overall Scores: Product=8/10 Value=10/10 11) Tommy Walsh 1.5" packet Screws. I needed screws to make a simple small hobby table. I've just drilled some holes near the corners of an MDF board and then used these screws to screw a length of wood to each corner. Yep, these are decent screws as you would expect screws to be. My table is steady enough for now i can strengthen it later. Overall Scores: Product=8/10 Value=6/10 12) Tommy Walsh Tools Storage Box. This is a plastic tool box. Not strong enough for contractors, but perfect to keep my non-electric tools and hobby bits in. ive filled the base with my hammer, alan key set, starkey set, screwdriver, spanners, paintbrushes etc, and the top compartmentalised section with screws, wallpluggs, hobby knives and other small items. Its not very strong but perfect for home/hobby use. Only £1. Overall Scores: Product=7/10 Value=10/10 13)Charlie Dimmock 50Pk 30cm Bamboo flower sticks. I needed some kind of wooden skewers to stick into a polystyrene head to hold modelling clay in place while i create a design for a rubber mask. These should do the job perfectly. Overall Scores: Product=6/10 Value=7/10 14) 300g smoked ham. Looks like a large packet for £1 and i quite fancy a ham sandwich. Slices are equally sized and tasty. better than cheap supermarket ham. Overall Scores: Product=8/10 Value=9/10 15) Ladle and straining spoon. I have needed a ladle a few times recently. These look decent quality. good value. Overall Scores: Product=8/10 Value=9/10 16) 180g roasted and salted nuts. Hmm, mixed salted nuts. the picture on the packet has a equal mix of almonds cashews peanuts. On opening the bag, disaster face. very dissapointed to find its just peanuts. I poured them out into a bowl and found 2 almonds and about 6 cashews. just peanuts left, i dont really like peanuts, someone else will eat those. Overall Scores: Product=3/10 Value=3/10 17)A Re-usable carrier bag. To carry my stuff home in. 10 pence. Exactly what you would expect from a strong carrier bag. it carried my things home. I could use it again. Overall Scores: Product=N/A Value=N/A Overall Experience: Excellent 9/10. Spending a total of 13.60, I felt a bit like a small child in a sweet shop. There's quite a few things i will have to go back for such as a head torch and a nostril hair trimmer and some food items. I enjoyed this shopping experience and feel i have a great overall deal for my bag of stuff. The shop was tidy and nicely laid out. The staff were polite and courteous. I got served quickly at the checkout. I have anxiety issues and normally only shop online but i will definately be returning to poundland for the deals i missed and the HDMI cable that i forgot to pick up. Excellent.

“Service wasnt that great”

Went in to purchase household cleaning items and half the items were in one aisle, and the others were at the other end of the store. They need to do some serious organizing.

“disappointed with a poor service”

★★☆☆☆

written by RoxieMorse on 14/09/2015

The next day, still having not heard from anyone at John Lewis, I called again to try to inquire about my blinds only to hear that the order had not been processed upon the day of purchase and had only been placed after I had gone to inquire in store!

The next day, still having not heard from anyone at John Lewis, I called again to try to inquire about my blinds only to hear that the order had not been processed upon the day of purchase and had only been placed after I had gone to inquire in store! To compound my frustrations I have not heard back to my complaint lodged with the store last week (however this should not come as a surprise as they did not respond to my original enquiry nor place my order on time). Needless to say, it is unlikely that I will be using this service to order the remainder of the blinds and curtains required for my new flat.asuring and fitting services and paid in full on the day in store. “Absolutely terrible”

★★☆☆☆

written by LeolaBest on 14/09/2015

Paid for a guaranteed delivery and no show. On calling John Lewis they can't say where our delivery is and whether we will receive it today. Absolutely gutted we have wasted our evening waiting for an expensive TV which is no where to be seen. Ridiculous, customer service zero. Will not be recommending to any family, friends or colleagues.

“I purchased a Bosch hub and installation on John Lewis...”

★★☆☆☆

written by VelmaEllison on 14/09/2015

I purchased a Bosch hub and installation on John Lewis website, to replace the older Bosch hob. The hob stopped working within less than 12 hours post installation. I called John Lewis to request that they send an engineer to check the hob and the connections to complete the installation. I ended up being transferred several times, with no single department willing to take the responsibility for this. John Lewis' online department did not want to deal with this as well. It turns out, when a product

“TERRIBLE DELIVERY SERVICE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LenoraWitt on 14/09/2015

I ordered a baby monitor and some baby clothing online a week ago. I received email from Hermes on Tuesday afternoon saying my John Lewis order had been successfully delivered, with no trace of my parcel's whereabouts. On calling Hermes they took no responsibility for the parcel and I was told to contact JL. On calling JL and after holding the line for 30 minutes I was told that the parcel may have been wrongly delivered and Hermes will get back in touch. The next morning there was an email from Hermes that my parcel was out for delivery. After waiting all day in vain I received another email saying there was a delay and JL was working to resolve it. Another call to JL proved equally futile as they had no idea where my parcel was. Today evening another email from Hermes stated that my order had been successfully delivered while it hasn't and yet again endless minutes of holding later JL were unable to provide any details of my order's whereabouts. This is decidedly my worst ever online shopping experience and I am sorry I ever shopped at JL. Sheveta

“Colour Magnet- Not!”

★★★☆☆

written by dale evans on 11/03/2015

Get what you pay for- a cliche I hate..and most of my Poundland buys have been good value - but I caution against the laundry product Colour Magnet. Utterly useless. Put your £ toward Colour Catchers from Spotless or Dylon. (The touchscreen styli are pretty rubbish too..you'll do MUCH better, for less, at DX.com)

“Worst place to shop or work!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hmdf on 11/01/2015

Got a temp job for over christmas to better thing for my kids and ended up a lot worse off than I was, counter staff were polite and helpful but the manager was no help what so ever start to finish, twice he intentionally gave me the wrong wage (under payed) he wasn't helpful when I called about it and lied everytime I called, he was never instore but I've never known a manager that doesn't do nothing like him. I never fit my wage until I took it higher up and complained. As for the supervisor cath sges polite enough but she should be the manager not tge manager as she actually does work. I will never be shopping there again from my experience working there

“I shop at the Poundland in Bromley, Kent. It's fine...”

★★★★☆

written by on 02/12/2009

I shop at the Poundland in Bromley, Kent. It's fine when there aren't many people in the shop, but when it's crowded, it's a nightmare! Narrow aisles and people with pushchairs who stop and browse, so no-one can get past them.

Also, this time of the year leading up to Christmas, ladies, watch your handbag! A couple of weeks ago, I got home from Poundland and found someone had slit the side of my handbag with a sharp knife in an attempt to steal my purse. Luckily, they didn't succeed. I telephoned the shop at once and told them I suspected the criminals were two dark skinned foreign looking men and one woman who were asking people to get them things off the top shelf. So, be warned!!!
