We have let out several properties for a few years through remus property as we live abroad. We have never had any problems and believe the service charges are fair considering the cost in flying back to deal with individual problems that do occur. So far so good

Living in Exmouth, Devon, and looking at the majority of reviews on this site, My wife and I must be one of the luckiest couples living in a Remus managed block of flats. My wife has Fibro Myalgia and when I sent an email to Remus, the first thing they did was to install another handrail..Their service charge last year wasn't overly ridiculous with it only costing £400.00 for the year. They hired a contracted cleaning company to clean our communal areas and we generally don't get any hassle from them, as we always do what they generally request..I understand that people are getting fed up with being told to cut the grass in their garden but hey, you purchased the flat with the garden, so it is your responsibility to keep it cut..They did try to put it on with the old Health And Safety trick about firedoors, but I was able to put them right, as I was the Health And Safety representative where I work..If I have any concerns I will contact them personally...

Wow I cannot believe that someone has a property managed by Remus for £400. I reckon this review must have been written by Remus to raise their rating above rock bottom!!
Their Management fee is £666 add on fees for Accountancy, fire safety checks, risk assessments, repairs, reserve, Insurance for which they charge 50% above the market rate, cleaning and gardening. They are charging me £1100 for a brand new property with no lift and a tiny patch of grass. This was increased by £250 since the year before - Extortionate. If it was £400 I'd be very happy and think that quite reasonable.

No, sorry I am NOT a Remus employee. I am in the Armed Forces thanks...In Exmouth, Remus manages the majority of flats in the town..you are quite welcome to visit and I will show you our last bill if you would like evidence..Yes, a couple of years ago Remus wasn't held in high regard in the South West, but under new management, things are beginning to turn around..

Another thing I would like to add (which I failed to mention) is that new builds generally have a higher service charge than older premises, and you'll find that buildings insurance is a lot higher in a new build property too.

Really? Newbuilds have a 2 year warranty from the developers and a 10 year NHBC guarantee. I'm sure older properties will require redecoration and repairs before a new build

I'm sorry, you are obviously not prepared to listen to my comments and think you know everything about newly built properties and older flats..The flat I live in is an ex Officers block of flats and have been well constructed. All I've been saying is that not everybody has suffered a bad experience from Remus. We haven't.

I hope that your seemingly rare positive experience with Remus continues.
Myself and other residents experience has slumped to a new low and the next step is a Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.
