Well what can I say, Sagem have really knocked the spots off Nokia with this little stunner! For starters I wanted a phone that looks good, and this one sure lives up to that, I've got a matt black clip on cover on it and it looks just suave! One little niggle I have with the phone is that when you have over a hundred texts stored it tends to slow down a little, but nothing major. Other than that it's got everything you could ask for from a phone, including heaps of wallpapers to save you downloading operator logos. I've downloaded some naughty wallpapers from the WAP which is nice :)
If you want a change from the dull Nokia this is the phone for you, it's hard to get bored of!

I bought the Sagem MY X-5 mobile phone about a week ago and its by far the best budget phone on the market, i got mine on t-mobile for £100! Everything about it is faultless, some of the reviews on here are far to picky. If your after a cheap, really cute and goodlooking phone loaded with features then this is the one for you. It's a real show off phone and is only tiny bit bigger than a nokia 8310 and clearly outweighs it in features. The colour screen is amazing with plenty of backgrounds to send to it, the ringtones are a bit dodgy but make your freinds laugh and the polyphonics only seems to have flutes as the instruments? some people have complained about the txt messaging not telling you how many letters u have left to write, this isn't really true becuase it tells u if uve gone over the limit on the next screen. The speaker phone is perfect for when u cant be bothered holding the phone or when ur in a really noisy environment. I love this phone! I would recommend it to any one thats sick of using the nokia interface and want something new, basically this phone would suit anyone! Well Done Sagem! this is a winner!

i dont think it is that good, due to the fact that you can search the web for hours and not find anything to dowload for this model. On the whole it is a great phone to have and is very reliable and light and different. If you want a phone that is one in a million this is the phone for you.

I upgraded to the myx-5 3 weeks ago now and it's one of the best phones i've owned and ive had a few!!!. I've not had any of the problems that i've heard about it performs excellently even in places where i couldn't use my nokia 8310. The only problem i have incounted is the battery life seems very poor apart from that the myx-5 is the phone to own.

The only way to get poly ring tones is by buying a data cable and downloading them your self, there are lots of sites for doing this and there all free. Data cables are cheap from [email protected] only £9.00, no cost postage, packing in uk, so happy ring tones and wallpapers,

I bought this phone about 5 months ago and have never regretted buying it. However i have still not managed to get a transfer cable for downloads. It offers many good features and good value for money.

Just received pc data cable i ordered, from the sagem website, how do you clear memory on phone, exactly what sounds and images can you download with the cable, is there anybody out there who can help, cheers.

I really think Sagem could knock nokia out of the top only if they get ther full range of phones like Sagem Pebble( there is one!).

I have had a Sagem my-x5 since Saturday. Before this mobile i had a series of Nokia phones, the last of which was a Nokia 3410. If you don't like bricks then i suggest you opt for the Sagem as apose to the Nokia phones which are by far larger. The Sagem my-x5 is excellent inside and out. It has two games which are some what more mind stimulating then those of the Nokia`s. The reception of this mobile is great, and i would recommend the Sagem to anyone who wants a cool mobile with a colour screen and much much more. Well done to SAGEM!

It's a compact miracle! It's got games, colour screen, polyphonic ringtones and all the stuff of the future! If your looking for a phone at £150 or less then get this one!

I've gone through a Siemans M35i and a Motorola Timeport 260 in the past year. I needed a cool phone (Only 16) for a cool price, this was the phone I wanted. I was on Virgin mobile and wanted to stay, so I started looking for SIM free mobiles as I didn't need another SIM card. All the 'Cool' mobiles were in the £200 region, I couldn't afford this. So I had to put my buying off till I could afford one of them. Then I went into a Virgin Megastore and saw the Sagem myX-5 for £139.99, a 'Cool' phone for a 'Cool' price, but still I couldn't afford it for a few weeks. Then the next day I saw it in the same shop for £119.99 when brought with £20 airtime. But I had left my money at home. THEN the week after (Couldn't get into town for a week) it was £99.99 when brought with £20 airtime. WHAT A GREAT OFFER!!! This phone is so cool, can't wait till my friends see it!

Since gaining this Sagem MY X-5 phone on Monday (29th Dec 02) i have found this phone very easy to use. I had it for £139.99 on Virgin Mobile with £35 free airtime. The colour screen on it is very good although not as good as higher priced coloured screen phones. This can be expected though although the screen is fully coloured.
The ringtones on the phone are very good although a few more of what i like are available of www.sagem.com if you have a data cable which i do not have yet. The phone has 3 animated screensavers which are good. The wallpapers are bright, i have changed the wallpaper at least 10 times as i cannot make up my mind which one to have!
The games are limited to two on the phone that i have, Picture Puzzler (or something!) and Megabox Conquest. To begin with i thought the games were going to be rubbish but they are very enjoyable.
The text facility however, is slightly annoying for me as i do not like predictive text input, it has a feature of predictive text input which i cannot say if i want so i have to go into options each time to put it onto ABC mode. The keys are well spaced out so it easy to input the letters. You can send pictures and sounds etc.. that are already in the phone. However another bad side is that it doesnt tell you how many letters you have left to input on the text you have to select to send it first.
Finally it has a great handsfree speaker facility which is especially good when you dont want to pick the phone up. The vibrate isnt weak as it has made me jump several times. On some models though it may be weaker as pointed out by some reviewers.
I have had 5 phones so far, and this is the best one i have ever had. I have had an Ericsson T20e, Nokia 3210 and 6210, and 3 Motorola's. I must add that the menus are very very easy to use and that i worked them all out in 1/2 hour. (i am good with phones!)

To all people who are looking for a place to download sagem my-x5 logos, wallpapers and ringtones. go to
www.uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/nik99net/
you have to have a Yahoo ID but this is very easy to get and once you are logged in you will find a great selection of ringtones, wallpapers and other cool stuff.
i have found this site very useful.
PS you must have a data cable to download free sagem my x5 logos and wallpapers otherwise you will have to pay around 3 pounds to get one from one of those horrible places like monkey mob or monster mob etc. You will also have to download sagem my pictures and logos at www.sagem.com or Plug In Out, a great feature that lets you choose any bmp or gif or whatever picture as an image, make it fit on the screen of the phone, and then send it to your sagem My-X5 via the data cable (look on ebay for a cheap one)

I think the coloured screen is brilliant and is a nice and small shape. My signal is fine and miles better than any previous phone. Only problem where can you get tones sent to your phone.
written by Cornholio. on 14/12/2002
256 Colour screen, 80 Hi-Fi and Polyphonic ringtones (50 of which you can personalise yourself), built in hands free, vibro call alert, WAP, 3 games, Inter-changable front and back covers, 5 animated screen savers, 50 icons, brilliant value, all that From £129 - £149 " You Cant Go Wrong "
written by joanne. on 27/11/2002
I'm happy with the phone but I can't find a site where you can download polyphonoic ring tones or logos, which is a shame because it would be good if I could have some more pics.
Written on: 29/11/2002
hi joanne,
you're right, the myx5 is a very good phone. It makes a change from having the same nokia phone as everyone else, but most importantly it's actually a quality handset in it's own right. I have the sagem myG5 which is the gameboy-lookalike phone. It's very similar to the myx5 in terms of its firmware, a lot of the menu screens are the same but crucially it's specifically enhanced for mobile phone video-gaming. its the best mobile phone for playing games by a streak due to it's gameboy style control pad and action buttons. It's the worlds first true GAMEPHONE. but enough of that, maybe I can help you with your myx5:
for background wallpapers go to:
http://www.esato.com
http://www.t68.info
you can download wallpapers from their wap sites thru your phone...
http://wap.esato.com
http://wap.t68.info
instructions for changing operator logos on the myx5:
because the myx5 is one of these new 2.5G phones, it uses something called EMS messaging (not sms). ems means enhanced messaging service, it's very similar to sms but it's just so much better, allowing you to insert things like ringtones, graphics, screensavers etc all into one standard text message. so you can send & receive text and a musical ringtone in the same message, provided the other peerson you send it to also has an ems capable phone. Note: ems is NOT the same as MMS messaging, ems uses the same network infrastructure as sms, unlike mms. ems is basically the halfway point between sms and mms. sms was for the 2G phones like the nokia 3310, ems is for the new 2.5G phones like the ericsson t65, and mms is for the 3G phones which will allow you to watch videos and football highlights for example. So since the myx5 is an EMS capable phone, in order to change the operator logo on it you have to get the logo/picture message sent to you in EMS format. If you try doing it the way you are used to with nokia phones (by sms) it wont work because it MUST be done in ems format. Just search the net for 72x14 format EMS logos. Or you can try getting them from these sites:
http://www.personalizedmobile.com
http://www.toyafone.com
http://www.mobilekub.com
as for polyphonic ringtones:
i'm not so sure about places for poly ringtones just yet, but if i find any i'll let you know. I hope this helps :)

The Sagem MY X-5 is an excellent mobile phone in color in the limited market of Pakistan.
written by maximum. on 06/10/2002
the Sagem MY X-5 mobile phone is low price - many possibilities!
This mobile phone rocks! The high quality sound (wav, Midi, iMelody included!) and the colour display will take this mobile phone into the upper class! The costumation functions are unbeatable. But: you'll need to have a data cable to use all the functions the My X-5 offers. It would take too much time to describe all the features.
But one thing is for sure: I highly recommend it!
written by Tom. on 20/09/2002
For the price (£140 inc. £15 airtime from Virgin) the Sagem MY X-5 is a cracking little mobile phone. The navigation is easier than my last nokia, which seems like a brick by comparison (3years old now).
There are some strange ringtones with only one 'normal' one (sonar & boathorn are great:), but you can have any sound you like, data cables only £10 or download via the phone.

This Sagem MY X-5 mobile phone is great. I've only had it an hour and I can already find my way round the menus (it's that easy) unlike some phones I've had in the past. The backgrounds are great and the Ringtones are fab too. The MY X-5 is also a nice little looking phone (not a brick) and I would recommend it to everyone.

scragger's what does tosh mean then, dont you mean toss?????????? as for my spelling you have only slated that because you cant find anything good to say about the sagem my x5. the point im making is that how can the sagem knock the spots off nokia phones, when there was never any mention of nokia phone models.
hahaha a bit thick mmmmmmmmmmmm????????????
so you have defended a review which makes you as bad.
sagem will never be as good as nokia, thats a fact(search the forums to see what people really think.
