“The curry secret”

★★★★★

written by on 07/01/2012

Just got my hands on this book & can't wait to make my 1st curry from it, all the reviews look good just hope the curries are good too, good to see the resturaunt style curries we are used too in it, at least it explains how to make the basic curry sauce then add to it the different ingredients you need for different curries, unlike other curry books that don't explain thing properly!

Cannot recommend The Curry Secret by Kris Dhillon highly enough and have done so to family and friends - all of whom share my very high opinion. If you follow the recipes you WILL create the perfect restaurant syle curry. My book has fallen apart through overuse..

We made outstanding curry on our first try with "The Curry Secret." Making the base sauce in bulk appeals to me - I can freeze and make future fantastic meals quickly and easily.

I would really recommend this book. Once you have made the curry sauce it is so easy to do all the recipes. One tip: when making the curry sauce try and do it in the garden on a burner because the smell lingers.

★★★★★

written by Trickle on 22/02/2007

The basic sauce takes time but stick with it. The recipe in the book makes enough sauce for about 6 portions, depending on your appetite or how you skim it. Every curry has the same basic sauce, so don't think that when you make this sauce you have to stick to the same curry. Once you have made the sauce, if you freeze it, it then only takes about 30 mins to create a mouth-watering dish. Each time you make a curry, whether it is a balti or a dupiaza it gets better and better.

Take note of the tips in the book, especially the yogurt tip it makes all the difference to the appetite of the eyes as well as the taste buds.

I would like to see more recipes in the book, and the base sauce takes a while, but it is worth taking the time and effort, as this is the foundation for great curries.

I have produced curries better then you would ever get in an Indian restaurant, and all my friends have bought this book after tasting my curries. It is simple to follow, and you get some fantastic spicy flavours.

written by Wanda Boocock on 08/03/2004

I think Kris Dhillon's The Curry Secret : Indian Restaurant Cookery at Home is the very best, while visiting the U.K. about 2 years ago I came across this book and never have I looked back since, and none of my friends have either, I have used this book endless times. I can not put in to words how much this book has meant to me, I have endless compliments on my cooking, and have used it for about 10 gifts to the people that like me can not get enought of the curry secret. Thanks so much for making me the best indian cook around.
