We stayed 29th and 30th October 2016 and gave debit card to cover cost of food and drinks during our stay - NB We had already pre paid our room. On our second night we ordered room service and it took ages and was stone cold and the wrong drinks. I went down to reception to complain and they were very accommodating and took the full cost of the room service off our bill and gave me ac copy of the bill. As I walked away I looked at it and realised they were charging me for the room again. I returned to reception and informed them of error - they asked to see receipt etc (which I had given on check in) I got them from the room - they apologised and assured me this would be corrected before they issued my final bill. When I checked out the following morning I signed for amended bill which was correct - just the food and drinks we had been given (minus the room service) and I went my merry way. However when I returned to uk and checked my bank balance there was nearly £500 pending. When I rang my bank if appeared the Marriott hotel put 3 payments against my account 1st for room food and drinks including room service, the 2nd without the room service and 3rd (which was taken out) for the bill I signed. I have spent over an hour this evening trying to sort this out with hotel only to be told it will be back in my account by Thursday! I find this totally unacceptable that a large trusted chain could just abuse peoples accounts in this manner and question how much they would have taken if I had not been careful about what I sign. How many more people are paying twice or 3 times for their rooms! The hotel is good and food good and service good but beware be a cash customer and keep your card in your pocket
