Hello We Returned From The Buenavista Hostel/hotel

Hello we returned from the Buenavista Hostel/Hotel in Santa Eulalia one week ago today, cannot fault the place, beautiful lush gardens & lots of 'cubby holes'to sit & have a private conversation if so wished.

The hostel is family run & having read the reviews prior to going wondered what on earth 'quirky' meant as stated by many previous occupants. Well, I am glad to say that it means nothing more than a different decor (one of the oldest hotels in Sta Eulalia) built in 1932 & has beautiful relics from that era....antiques so to speak.

Everything is spotless, the family are polite & friendly & could not do enough for you, English speaking but fun to also speak in Spanish.

As stated many steps so would not recommend for the elderly/infirm....at least we got fit within our fortnights visit! A perfect location for the centre & also the beach being minutes walk away. Cheap supermarket just around the corner although there are no facilities in the room to eat in, no fridge or television so if that is what you are looking for do not book here.

We stayed at the back of the hostel, the room was very basic, no facilities as stated & no window (only a back door which lead to the patio but unfortunately had bad weather & would have been flooded out!) A little claustraphobic at times which forced us out of our rooms & into town (prices were extortionate, dearer than the UK)all down to the Euro exchange rate at present but nevertheless do not wish to pay a fiver for a toasted sandwich & fifteen quid for cod & chips!

There are some new rooms at the back behind where we stayed (five I think which included air-con) we enquired about upgrading for the last week but would cost another £480! Thomas Cook are promoting these for next season so maybe the prices will reduce somewhat.

Lovely breakfast every morning provided you are an egg lover....if not there is ham, cheese, cereal, juice, toast, croissants etc..etc so a good choice which are laid out to help yourself. The 24 hr reception ask that you leave your key when venturing out of the hotel but we did not bother as had read previous reviews which stated that they were on view & vulnerable, did not seem to pose a problem.

All in all I would recommend the Buenavista & will probably return at some stage, first visit to Ibiza & loved it!
