I am an engineer by profession , I normally carry out my vehicle repairs myself, I had just fitted a new gear box to my Peugeot 406 and while fitting it I discovered there was a small gap where my exhaust pipe is attached to the exhaust manifold and needed a new seal or gasket. The following week, I was so busy with the kids, and decided to go to Kwik Fit to do the work. He quoted me forty-five pounds for the job and to add insult to injury, said he will charge an extra 25 pounds if he has to replace the two retaining bolts of the exhaust pipe if rusted. I then told him I will give him 45 pounds which he refused. I then told him I will do the job myself and surprise! surprise!! The seal or gasket cost me 2 pounds 85 pence and the bolts 80 pence, I am glad I am an engineer and was able to perform the work myself.
