“No problem ... so far”

★★★★☆

written by meGrace1957 on 08/10/2014

Have used this product again after a break for 3 months due to our cat having fur loss and inflamed skin to a worm treatment. No significant side-effects so far than I can tell. Had to use Comfortis for 3 months and in no way was this as good as Advocate - though I keep reading that summer 2014 has been a particularly bad year for fleas. Advocate easier to give the cat - even though he turns into the 'cat from hell' when you try to do anything with him so we have to wrap him in a towel! But getting tablets down him is even worse and mixing them with his food or a wet treat is useless - he sniffs the crushed tablets in the mix and walks off!

“Anxious about using Advocate ”

★★★★☆

written by Marissai491 on 12/08/2014

I have always used Stronghold for my 3 cats but my vet recently changed to Advocate. I read these reviews & was adamant I would not use it. Even considered changing my vet of over 20 years. Decided to give it a go after a long talk with another branch of my vets - marvellous! The boys didn't even react when I applied it, unlike Stronghold when they flinched & ran away. They just sat there. No adverse reactions as described in these reviews. No discolouring on the coat of my dual layered boy as with Stronghold. In fact I don't think they realise they've been treated. Liquid seemed to be more readily dispersed as well. Ampoules are easier to open & dispense but liquid does come out rather quickly. Advocate dosage is more directly linked to weight so the correct strength MUST be given. It also treats heartworm which I had never heard of before. Before using Advocate I was given conflicting information from my vets & some of these reviews. I believe some cats can be sensitive or allergic to some ingredient in Advocate like humans & drugs. Only by trying the product will you know for sure. Use these reviews as a tool to make up your own mind as I nearly didn't. My boys are now Advocate cats.

“good flea treatment ”

★★★★☆

written by on 28/08/2011

we used this product after our 5 month old cat was teaming with fleas (we found her as a stray and she had clearly been in that state for a while.) it got rid of all the fleas she had and visibly made a difference as she stopped itching practically the day after. she had no adverse side effects dispite our worry as the label warns of it. down side was the difficulty of getting it on her, she's a very wiggly cat and after the treatment got a little disgruntled, other than that it's an excellent flea treament that worked for our cat. the vet told us how to apply and everything so very happy over all.

“My cats have always had Advocate and and I have never...”

★★★★☆

written by on 15/06/2010

My cats have always had Advocate and and I have never had any fleas on them. My dog had a dose of it once, she shook herself in my living room and took the colour out of my leather suite where the droplets landed! Apart from that I have been very pleased with this product.

I used beaphar spot on seven days ago, and it has not worked. When can I apply advocate spot on? I have a flea infestation and I am mortified. My cat is 3.8 kilos.

I've been using Advocate on my cat for a few years but it's making him ill. Every time I use it he starts throwing up his food for a couple of days and this last time he has a bald patch of fur where it had been placed. I will stop using it but it's annoying as I have 3 tubes left and it's not cheap. Has anyone else had this issue?

A bit of Advocate flea treatment dripped onto my kittens side and she has licked it. Is it dangerous?

Yes very! Get her to the vet ASAP. I won't even use this stuff on my adult cat as it burnt her as though I'd poured acid on her!!! Personally I think it should removed from the market
