Shakespeare Cypry

I really don't know what your problems are here, I've had the Cypry some years now and there's never been a single problem with it.

Bail arm works just as it should, line lays very well for a big spool, clutch may take some getting use to but once you've mastered the fine adjustment does the job as well as any other.

Bait runner works very well I find, me being an arthritic old codger a reel has to be easy to use, which I find this is, not so good as my old Mitchell Match with dab bail are, but for heavy carp the Cypry works well.

Poor Quality :-(

used reel for the first time and had a hand full of problems firstly the bait runner was jamming then the reel broke completely. piece of junk metal and plastic luckily i got it for free with as a rod or i would be very upset on the plus side all is covered by the 12 months warrenty so guess what its going on ebay as soon as it comes back

Cypry 6000 Fishing Reel

I have got two of these reels and so far have had no trouble with them, apart from a bent bale arm which was my own fault.

I Have Used The Cypry 6000 Approx A Dozen Times.f

i have used the cypry 6000 approx a dozen times.from day one it didnt feel correct as the gear kept slipping.i have found the overall build quality to be a bit poor.the bail arm kept also flipping out during cast off.my last go on it saw the main fly wheel inside loose its teeth!!! this looks down to poor quality metal used.was not impressed, but i payed twenty quid for this...lesson learnt again, shall invest more money on next one.

I found this review helpful because It confirms what other reviewers have found and gives actual experience with the reel. Certainly information which would have an influence on whether to purchase one or not. Information which I would hope the manufacturer would take on board

For Its Price The Shakespeare Cypry 6000 Freespool

For its price the Shakespeare Cypry 6000 Freespool bait running reel 5.6:1 220m of 10lb seems like a bargain especially with the smoothness of the retrieve and the aluminium spare spool supplied. However the illusion ends once the reel is in use. It has a smooth retrieve and casts well. The spool is big and deep with good capacity and with a spare spool provided a good degree of flexibility negating the need to carry a second reel. However the spools are not as sturdy as you expect. Having taken delivery of a number of these reels for a school fishing club one of the spools was accidentally dropped completly destorting the spools cage rendering it unusable without repair. The spools are fiddly to change as once released the drag plates seem to have a life of their own and must be lined up exactly right for it to seat on the reel. This has resulted in some frustration when changing spools at the waterside. The baitrunner mechanism has very little range of adjustment with little difference between full off and full on.It has a very thick reel seat making it difficult to fix to a number of rods other than the big carp rods. The reel is quite a heavyweight especially in small hands however is smooth in use. Whether it will stand the test of time in comparison to other (More expensive) models remains to be seen. The school fishing club will very quickly sort that one out.

shakespeare cypry 6000 is a nice smooth bait running reel . bit weighty but holds loads of line. had two break within 6mths . freespool wont disengage sometimes. front clutch is terrible wont give line one minute then next goes really loose , good job i got them cheap they are going in the bin now.

I found this review somewhat helpful because it confirmed some of my points on the reel and its use. would have been useful if an indication of just what broke on the item had been included to check against the reels we use...
