Gouves, Rena Apartments

Arrived back from Crete on Sunday, lovely weather, fantastic food.

Rena apartments get the wrong kind of review you go to Greece you pay very little money and some people expect 5 star service, let me tell you after visting Greece many times it is not going to happen. Getting back to the apartments I must say after paying £165 for 1 week for 2 adults, a 14 year old and a 7year old in tow wasn't expecting anything fancy.

The welcome from Rena was lovely a very kind and warm person who will go out of her way to help anybody, Deena the cleaner was also exceptional the rooms where clean no ants or creepy crawlies.

When we arrived we where put into 2 separate rooms with no aircon, and then moved to a family apartment on the Tuesday. No problem as this seemed to be the norm with moving people into different apartments as the week went on.

The food in Crete is fanastic no bad stomachs and having a very fussy 14 year boy had no complaints (a miracle)

The pool and pool area was cleaned every morning and if people say and different they have not got up at 7o clock to watch rena and her husband doing so.

The food at the apartments was lovely no menu but generally if you ask for it rena will oblige.

Where the apartments are; the walk to the very small town centre is around 20 mins, but what we didn't realise is that if you walk along the seafront for another 30mins you get into the main Gouves town, which we did not do but passed through when going to the Water Park. Looked very nice would have attempted to go if we had been there for another week.

Taxi's very expensive, stick to buses.

All in all a very relaxing holiday, please ignore the bad reviews about Rena apartments it really is lovely and if you are not happy let Rena know and she will sort it.

Valentinos next door is also very friendly.

Apparantly there is an old village which is about 25min walk up the hill towards the mountain which is surposed to be lovely with old fashioned Tavernas, we got told about on our last day, so if you like the traditional Greek people give it a go.

To Sum up our holiday would be to say Hot, rexlaxed, friendly,clean and most important food mega.

If you want to stay up drinking until 4-5am this would be a good place to stay. The bar did not get busy until - 2am when the people from next door (Valentinas Apartments) joined the Rena guests (Valentina closed down at 1am).
