“Rack is not friendly to pots and pans. ”

Rack is not friendly to pots and pans.
This machine has a good water solenoid system but it fails every 4-6 years. It erupts in a screech or a pipe pounding oscillation that'll scare the cat to death! We put the control pad on ECONOMY and left it there for 11 years. Kept it's use simple and it's lasting fine. So I believe the water solenoid to be a lemon contraption here. The rubber diaphragm is too thin, has no strain fibres and dries up from hot water. Unless that unit was upgraded I would not buy it again. I'm a service manager 38 years now and I consider this part to be very weak indeed.

I bought Bosch SHU in April 98; within a year the control panel buttons failed and the electronic board with it's casing was replaced under warranty with an "improved" unit. Now after 4 1/2 years from purchase date, they have failed again ! The mechanical link design between the control panel and the electronic board is indeed very poor, as well as the quality of the plastic selected for the electronic board overall casing in comparaison with the balance of the unit and its very good performance. The "snaps" holding the electronic boards into the casing as well as those used to fit the casing in the control panel are also drying to brittleness. I am looking into getting a replacement unit under the 5 years warranty and installing it myself to avoid the labor charge, not covered. Otherwise fitting a "tie rap" head, of the appropriate size and that has been cut from its tail, seems to etablish a functionning mechanical link between the control panel button and the electronic board switch.

I TOTALLY AGREE !!!! THIS SIEMENS CONTROL PANEL IS VERY POORLY DESIGNED. WHAT A SHODDY ENGINEERING JOB. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED. NOT ONLY IS THE PANEL A PIECE, BUT THE SOAP DISPENSER IS ALSO NON FUNCTIONAL.

“I purchased the Bosch SHU6805UC dishwasher three and a...”

written by Roger. on 21/06/2002

I purchased the Bosch SHU6805UC dishwasher three and a half years ago and the push button control panel failed on the Regular Wash Cycle. This is the cycle I use most. Upon closer inspection I realized that Bosch does not use metal springs behind the push buttons, but use instead plastic molded tabs that provide the spring tension. These tabs obviously get brittle with time and heat since they simply break and fall off. From reading the other posts on this board, it seems that about three - three & a half years is the average life expectancy of the control panel.

Yes it's warantied for five years, but a few pennies more in improving the design would have made consumers happier and saved them thousands in warranty claims. When you spend as much money as you do purchasing their dishwasher, you tend to care for it and keep it for many years. I'd personally like to see them recall or provide an extended warranty on the control panel as it seems to be a known defective component on their product. Why should I have to pay to repair their flawed part in year six?
Thanks

The hot water is from your hot water heater not your dishwasher, even if your dishwasher heats the water, the water is still just as hot as the highest setting on a hot water heater.

They work great for first 2 years!! Mine broke down only 3 years later. Regular wash cycle took 3 hours and dishes come up wet and not cleaned very well. There must be a manufacturing problem with those machines; because my friend's just started doing the same. Hers is 4 years old. We were told service would cost as much as $400 which is outrageous!! Rather buy a new machine.. but I won't spend $1500 this time.

The Bosch SH6800 series dishwasher will heat and more importantly "maintain" the temperature during the length of it's wash cycle. The Temperature range is a low 104 degrees F. in the Quick Wash cycle to a high of 161 degrees F. in the rinse cycle of longer wash cycles. The temperature of the water in the dishwasher is independant and has nothing to do with your hot water heater setting.
