“The End of an Era”

★★★★★

written by Darth956 on 12/10/2019

Valley Bike School is no more. We are retiring and riding our bikes off into the Sunset (metaphorically at least). We've had a blast and feel privileged to have met so many amazing Bikers down the years. The Reviews written here, and elsewhere, show how well we are thought of but, it's now time for us to ride for ourselves. Thank you to everyone who made Valley Bike School what it was, a place to ride and a place to meet new Biker friends. All the Best Valley Bike School

“Excellent training and good fun”

★★★★★

written by Chris_91 on 04/09/2019

I passed my mod1 and 2 with valley bike school. I was afried I didn’t have the time to do my bike licence but Valley BIke School manages to plan all my lessons and tests around my work. It was a hell of a lot of fun and the instructors made the experience and training all that much better. I passed first time on both modules and have already recommended to a friend. Worth every penny!

“Quality, relaxed, enjoyable and safe training”

★★★★★

written by Tom_bez on 31/05/2019

Fantastic experience with these guys. Quality training, patience and they clearly enjoy it. Never felt pressured and enjoyed the training, riding and brews. I was nervous during Mod 1 & 2 but as the training was great I passed first time. Thank you to all... and feedback is superb. I'll always remember her waving her arms to help me round my U-turn. Thank you.

Enjoy your riding.

“First class instruction ”

★★★★★

written by davidgraham30 on 09/05/2019

Don't usually bother with writing reviews but the guys and girls at Valley Bike School deserve all the praise they get, genuinely friendly people who make learning a pleasure. They are all about the safety of riding a motorbike, and with that makes you a safer rider. If you are serious about passing your "big bike" licence then these are the people to talk to. First class all the way. Thank you for making me a better rider and getting me through both mod 1 and mod 2 with only 1 fault.

Friendly comes naturally when you're dealing with people who are also friendly and listen to what you're trying to get across. Your riding skills, and your excellent passes, are down to you! Well done. Call in for a brew whenever you're passing.

CBT, MOD 1 and MOD 2 all completed thanks to Valley Bike School. First class tuition from first class instructors. Safe riding really is the priority here. Patient and friendly staff make you feel at ease at all times. I can now see why Valley Bike School is the best around. Thank you for making my training a pleasure.

“Great instructors, great bikes, great fun!”

★★★★★

written by paulmarch on 12/04/2019

I decided to use valley bike school, partly based on the excellent reviews on this site and google and I also liked the idea of training around the Rossendale area, due the the amazing countryside. I’d had a few months experience on a 125cc and based on this I decided on a 3 day DAS to achieve my full ‘big bike’ licence and found VBS to be professional, friendly, fun, flexible and approachable from beginning to end. There advice was great and it never felt they were just after making money from me. I came out of the training with only 2 minors on my mod 1 and no minors on my mod 2, passing both first time. This is largely due to the patient and knowledgeable training I received from the person I dealt with and the rest of the team at VBS.

“Brilliant! Roll on spring time :)”

★★★★★

written by Liz_Horton on 18/01/2019

I went to VBS based on its location, a recommendation from many years ago and a look at their website which looks very professional, is very informative and includes many positive reviews. So to add to those reviews, here is mine:- Having passed my CBT and covered 1500 miles on my 125 I decided it was time to make the step-up to a ‘big bike’. From the initial phone call to the day I passed my Mod2 the VBS team were brilliant. I was able to fit my lessons in around my shifts at work, there was no pressure. The lessons were well structured, plenty of consistent safe advice, practise time at the test centre for Mod1 and lots of encouragement on the rides around Blackburn / Darwen. So, a massive thank you to all the people I dealt with.  To one guy in particular, you’re a star, thank you for your endless patience and unfailing sense of humour. Still can’t believe I passed my Mod1 and Mod2 first time - down to you guys! Thank you xxxxx

Thank you. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your time with us and that you passed the two Modules first time.

Like many other things in life, you get out of it what you put in and you certainly put in the effort, turning up on your bike, having your lesson, then riding off back home on your bike - all in the depths of winter!

Well done you. Enjoy your riding and call in for a brew whenever you're passing.

“Excellent school and professional instructors”

★★★★★

written by 401Lyon on 05/12/2018

Only took up motorcycle riding at 50++ of age. I was fair weather only rider having spent 3 years riding around on concurrent cbt's so decided to go for full license. Tried a two hour 650cc training session at another school but my confidence was knocked down by an instructors' method of teaching. Dropped in to the person I dealt with at VBS a couple of year later for an informal chat and decided to give it another go. I found all the instructors very relaxed and friendly. They actually listen to your queries and give constructive feedback, more often with humour, but really reinforced your confidence. ( Like the Hornby train set analogy). I trained as and when time permitted and was fortunate to have sessions with all 3 instructors so picked up a spectrum of excellent riding and safety tips from experienced professional trainers. Enjoyed the rapport and shared experiences with other students and staff alike. Loved riding on the clear sunny days over the moors to Darwen more than riding over in the rain, or misty foggy morning at 3C for my successful Mod 2! but - hey ho I am now a safe and more competent convert from fair weather only riding. Would definitely recommend VBS to anyone looking to add the A category to their license.

Thank you Lyon. It is always good to know that we're doing things right and that our efforts are appreciated. You're right about the Hornby but, in my day, it was a Tri-ang (LOL). We are very fortunate to have such lovey scenery in and around Rossendale, glad you enjoyed it.

Stay safe out there and call in when you're passing. Kettle is always on. Text first as we're usually out and about.

“Best instructors out there!”

★★★★★

written by TomE1978 on 14/11/2018

Valley Bike School are quite simply incredible. Having turned up as a completely clueless novice I was taken right through to Mod 2...Passing first time despite my best efforts! I was trained by several different instructors which worked out great, all had different styles but all with the same goal, to train you to ride as safely as possible. But with plenty of laughs along the way. After a career in the army I have seen plenty of instructors, some great, but plenty terrible. I can genuinely say that the VBS team are amongst the best I have ever seen. Thanks for putting up with me guys.

“Great Instructors, Great Bikes, Fun Times”

★★★★★

written by Leafklin on 03/11/2018

I did my CBT and Direct Access (both modules) with the guys at VBS, as well as 3 full lessons, and a taster session to see if bikes are the thing for me, and wouldn't change a thing. All of the instructors are nice and friendly, not afraid to have a joke or offer you a brew, but most importantly they give sound advice. When you do make a mistake they will get your side of the story, say what you did wrong and why it was wrong, what you should have done instead and why that would be better, and will most likely help you laugh it off afterwards to stop you getting down about it. They have a good selection of bikes with an array of seat heights and engine sizes, so they will have something to suit you whatever part of getting your license you are at. I brought my own equipment, but they do sell bike gear at about the lowest prices I've seen. If you don't have gear I think they will let you use some of theirs, but couldn't say so for definite.

“Fantastic company to take your lessons/test with”

★★★★★

written by on 31/10/2018

I recently past my motorbike licence with this company, and I don’t have a bad word to say about them. I did all my training with them including CBT. Was originally recommended to them by a friend and I would recommend them to any of my friends who are interested in doing their bike licence. Staff are very friendly and make you feel at ease from the moment you set foot through the door, I was nervous about getting on somebody else’s bike but within the first 10 minutes it felt completely natural. Couldn’t fault them in any way, bikes are very well maintained and the safety gesr the have is second to none.

“Great team”

★★★★★

written by Todmordian on 07/10/2018

Initially recommended by a friend. I decided ,after 30 years to get on a motorbike again. After completing my CBT ,I knew I wanted to carry on and get my full licence. my course was tailored to fit my work /lifestyle. I soon had it completed and Mod 1 time came. after being cancelled due to 100mm of rain I finally took my mod 1. my training had covered all aspects of the test. Bingo fist part done . Mod 2 time next , again, the team had fully prepared me and I had no issues. I really enjoyed VBS way of training, they get the student thinking, instead of telling .for me the perfect way! I dropped a point on both mod 1 and mod 2, but I can live with that!! Thanks again team!

“CBT, MOD 1 AND MOD 2 PASSED IN LESS THAN A WEEK.”

★★★★★

written by WoodcutterSean66 on 28/09/2018

Went to VBS for my Direct access licence, less than a week I had done my CBT , MOD 1 and MOD 2 tests and passed. A massive thankyou to all the people I dealt with  for their professional training whist having a laugh and making it fun all at the same time. Definitely recommend Valley Bike School if you want your bike licence and learn to ride safely.

“Professional, Safe and Fun Bike School!”

★★★★★

written by lcg91 on 27/09/2018

The people I dealt with  are professional, friendly and most of all only interested in one thing - ensuring you are a safe rider! From the first call the advice was sound and relevant. Only having one (quite specific) week in which to get my licence done with only a CBT behind me, VBS quickly arranged a full, 5-day direct access course, during which I am pleased to say resulted in passing the unrestricted MOD 2 test. I would wholeheartedly recommend the school to anyone; whether you are a complete novice looking for a CBT or a full direct access course. Correspondence, phone or email was quick and to the point and I was never in doubt at what to expect from the week. Thank you VBS!

You did amazingly well in your week with us which speaks volumes for you and your ability to assimilate knowledge. In many ways, you were the perfect student - eager to take on board everything that was thrown at you. And, to get "Nil Points" is even more impressive after just a week. Well done that man.

“Fantastic staff and training ”

written by Jamesbeta12 on 27/09/2018

Did my CBT with Vbs and was blown away by all the staff and training, so I made it my mission to come back and do my A2 when I was ready which was immediately after, due to my age I had to wait a few years to do my A1 licence which today thanks to the people  I dealt with  I passed my mod 1 in the morning and Mod 2 in the afternoon! There are many many many companies that do this sort of thing but none I feel have the same personal touch of a family run training school and I cannot thank them enough for everything they’ve done ! Hats off to all the staff keep up the good work and I can not speak highly enough of everyone at Vally bike school! Cheers again

“Great People, Great Instruction”

★★★★★

written by on 26/09/2018

CBT & Direct Access completed with Valley Bike School. I was recommend VBS by a friend & I wasn't disappointed in my decision to go there. Courses are tailored round your personal circumstance which for me with work & not to cram everything into the shortest space of time possible, worked perfectly. Everyone connected to VBS are really friendly, the instructors are great & very knowledgable. Course lengths will be advised on what you need, not to cost you more & more money. VBS are a very honest bunch & want you to get through your tests first time of asking. So trust them, listen to them & apply what you are being taught. And, come test days, you'll be well equipped to pass. Its been a pleasure & hope to see you again in the future. P :-)

“The only place to go for bike training!”

★★★★★

written by Kev.H on 25/09/2018

CBTx2 and Direct Access course. Where do I start?! Professional, experienced, fun, friendly, helpful, the list goes on! I wont go in to the details but I became disabled after an accident and never thought I could ride a motorbike, I just put it on the list of dreams that would never happen for me. The mrs bought me a CBT a few years ago with VBS for a birthday present, thinking it would be a bit of fun on a scooter for the day and while doing that, the person I dealt with at VBS mentioned they had a guy who did his full bike test with adaptions to his bike with them. He was a member of the N.A.B.D, they are a charity that fund adaptions for disabled bikers as well as many other things. Well, that information started a few years of struggle (to put it mildly), most who have the adaptions, already have their full bike license and so its just a case of making a change to their own bike and away they go. It has been way more difficult starting from scratch but thanks to people like those we dealt with at VBS the dream of riding has happened for me. I cant thank them enough for their understanding, patience and help, they didn't have to go the lengths they went to help, from picking my bike up to take down to the school, to helping getting the damn thing to run, but they did and that says all you need to know about them.

Not sure of the exact cost, but approximately £100. Don't be tempted to just go for the cheapest option, these guys are excellent. I did my training in Rawtenstall but I believe they also operate out of Swinton, Manchester.
