“Amdega stock”

★★★★☆

written by on 07/07/2011

I work for a company who acquired a lot of amdega stock, this is excellent quality stuff but much of it is incomplete. I have noticed a few members mentioning they are missing parts etc. If this is the case we may be able to help. In the next few weeks we are listing what stock we have ranging from conservatories to summerhouses on a site called bidspotter.com if this is any use to the many people out there who are in this position or are looking for a bargain and are in the position to complete an item.

My Amdega conservatory is now ten years old and is an absolute joy. We get so much enjoyment from it and it is a valuable addition to our living space.

I read all the reviews from the knockers and internet crusaders and am happy to say that my experience has been everything I hoped, yes things don't always go as expected but all in all I'm happy with my journey.

I'd like to give credit where due, I rang their Head Office recently for some advice and spoke to a really helpful chap in the building department who was very knowledgable and gave me excellent advice.

3 months ago, I would have given Amdega no stars at all despite my very beautiful conservatory because we have had endless problems with the company over the last 18 months - wrong and missing part, severe leaking and a totally appalling customer service, which had clearly become well-known. However, the recent takeover has totally changed the situation and I honestly believe Amdega is getting there. My recent dealings with Amdega have been great. Work has now been properly completed and the warranty section has been really helpful. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the history. I'm really happy.

We found our Project Manager, Aaron, extremely helpful and pro active. The Amdega fitters were also very efficient. The finished project looks exactly as we thought it would and we are looking forward to some excellent weather when we can throw the doors open and enjoy the conservatory and the garden together.

Like many posters on this thread I have had my problems with Amdega in the past under its warranty scheme. However I noticed that the company was recently purchased by a specialist fund called Endless, financed by HSBC, and had installed a new management team.

I decided to contact the new team about the blown panels and leaks in my 7 year old conservatory. What a transformation in attitude and customer service now that the business has been refinanced. Admittedly I had to pay a fee for a site inspection but following that things moved very quickly. The warranty team called me back within hours offering dates for delivery of the new double glazed panels and a date for the work to be carried out a few days later.

The work was carried out as scheduled last week and not only am I happy with the end result but the fitters noticed two additional blown panels whilst on the roof and have arranged for these to be replaced shortly.

It seems to me that the previous management had a cashflow problem and the business nearly went to the wall. However, now that it has been rescued and is being run by a specialist fund I hope the experience I have had is the new benchmark for this company.

I found this review not helpful because...we have not had the same experience in service. Its been three years and we are still not complete with leaks and promises of returned phone calls. I really expected with the new management that things would change at Amdega. Sadly I can not say so. Its been stressful and extremely disappointing to say the least.

After a bumpy journey, we are now enjoying our lovely new orangery which is an elegant and practical addition to our home. We can now feel we are in the garden all of the year. Our recent visit to the Amdega factory filled us with confidence that with new leadership and management in place, the company is on track for renewed success.

Our Amdega conservatory went up in 1998 with a minimum of disturbance, and even when the gutters overflowed due to faulty connection with the drains the matter was put right the next day, and Amdega was very easy to deal with. Since then our family and friends have been using the conservatory on an almost daily basis as it is a bright and very welcoming room in which it is a pleasure to sit and work or laze . There have been no problems with leaks or draughts and even the paintwork is almost perfect after some twelve years. The conservatory might not have been cheap but it seems to have been well worth the money spent.

Design: We really liked the appearance of conservatories in the Amdega brochure and the ' no pressure' sale pitch was what really appealed. The design was very good and in keeping with the surroundings. After paying our deposit we found this review site and initially considered pulling out of the order, as to be honest, I was really worried after reading the reviews! I couldn't afford to lose the deposit money so I kept my fingers crossed and prayed that we hadn't made a huge mistake!!!
Delivery; We do agree with the other reviews that COMMUNICATION is the poor point of Amdega. You would expect that after paying thousands of pounds, customer care would be a priority but it doesn't appear to be. We found that once the conservatory was delivered ( and payment received) communication worsened. Some parts were missing from the order and we wouldn't have minded if the office staff had just apologised, explained why and told us when all of the conservatory would be delivered! Having said that, the delivery guys were very polite and left everything tidy and well protected whilst we awaited a fitting date.
We decided to get local builders to construct the dwarf wall and base. This was all great until the fitters arrived and found that the wall had been built too high. They had to go away again whilst the wall was rebuilt. Alan the Amdega surveyor was great and found that our builders had also put the damp proof course too high and he wouldn't let the conservatory go up until the wall had been built correctly.
Fitting: John,Paul and co were fantastic. Very tidy and polite. You could see that they take a great deal of pride in their work.
I am very happy with the conservatory. It looks fantastic.

Pretty well agrees with my experience..ie nice conservatory despite everything. But the sales pitch we received was very persuasive. We signed on and paid a deposit and then they increased the number of jobs WE had to do at every stage. The salesman in Scotland then lied through his back teeth about what we had been offered.

I found this review not helpful because... we have been passed around Amdega through about 20 people now and I only wish that [names removed] had looked after us... we got [names removed] just to name a few and we still have the same leaks that we've had since it went up 2.5 years ago and the saga continues. No one phones you back.

I am very pleased with my Amdega conservatory and everyone who has seen it has been very impressed. The design and craftmanship are excellent.
Dealing with their head office was frustrating. They need to put an effective customer care department in place.
