A family of 4, children 3 and 5yrs old. The resort is good for beginners and second timers and children. More advanced skiing is limited. We stayed at Delle Alpi which was great provided you got used to its lay out. The lifts in the hotel go to different floors so need to get head around that. Old part is fine but the newer part is really nice. Wellness suite was fantastic with such views, and kiddie friendly with time limits. Also the complementary kiddie club was great for us. Ours preferred it to skiing! Ski school is in middle of village and the hotel is at one end. Use the bus.....which we didn't know about beforehand! The nearest lift and slope (blue) and ski hire are within 3 mins of the back of the hotel. There are a couple of nice Reds running onto the blue behind the hotel. We also went onto the glacier in the cable cars with the kiddies just to show them what it was like. We didnt get to the neighbouring village which is linked by cable car and looks really pretty but will do next time. Biggest moan is lack of a briefing and general information flow. Although the rep was great and we made a point to find her and ask our questions you sometimes don't know what you don't know...e.g. bus service stopping outside the hotel. Others in the hotel did mention this as an issue.

Have travelled with Crystal Ski several times before without any issue. Just returned from Avoriaz, France from a family ski holiday, 4 adults, 2 children under 11. Stayed at Les Crozats apartments which were as described and no complaints. As a former employee of a major UK tour operator I am aware of how the business works and the importance of revenue, customer feedback and resort operations. I have always believed the Crystal brand to be trusted and reliable, however, after being quoted €1250 hire price for skis, ski boots, helmets for a week for our family, i now feel Crystal are not to be trusted, as we got superior grade equipment, with some of it brand new & unused, including insurance for €620 in resort. What happened to the price match guarantee? In addition, the Crystal rep sold us a €10 discount card that he claimed would get us a 10% discount in many bars and restaurants in Avoriaz. Not long after selling us this he recommended a cafe/patisserie in Avoriaz, but when we tried to use the discount card we learned it wasn't accepted. We tried it on 2 other occasions at different places and much to our embarrassment found they wouldn't accept it either. On closer inspection I noted the card said 2015/16 on it, so not sure if that was the issue or not? Please sort out your pricing on equipment hire Crystal Area Managers, as you are risking reputation, and shame on you for not offering the best service to your loyal customers.

It annoys me that Crystal has no loyalty scheme. Time and time again my friends and I re-book with Crystal, sometimes more than once in a season and definitely every year. Every time we book there is no recognition of our loyalty/repeat business. A small thank you would go a long way, and when I say thank you I mean a small discount - a gesture for coming back to Crystal for our skiing holiday/holidays. I/we (x8) have just booked again for 2016 and I have to admit I did it begrudgingly. Next time, I/we will shop around for better customer service.

I had occasion to complain on booking a ski trip online because the two for one discount on lift passes did not apply to us because of our age. We could purchase discounted senior passes but this worked out more expensive by around £35. This to me seemed grossly unfair and a bit of an anomaly. I was very pleased to receive a reply right away and an offer was made to refund the difference. You could not ask for better customer service than this! Hopefully we will continue to travel with Crystal for a few years yet

So last year was a bad snow year pretty much everywhere. I had no doubts about this so chose a glacier resort to be sure. I have never been to Austria before, and had been told good things about it, so I thought why not. It was also only my girlfriends second trip and I thought Kaprun would be a good place for here to improve here snowboarding. So we began our trip, slight hiccup at the airport (I was way over weight on baggage but it got sorted) and we got to Austria no problem at all. We collected our bags from the conveyor, walked out in to departures and straight away we saw a Crystal rep directing everyone where they needed to go. The whole operation at departures was so well organised, we knew exactly where to go and which bus to catch as there seemed to be a rep at every stage of the process. We get on the coach and the reps quickly go about explaining everything we need to know for the week ahead. We also collected our lift passes on the coach, which I had already paid for when booking, which was so handy. No queuing the next day at the ticket office!! The only bad bit about the coach journey, where was the snow??? Bear in mind it is about 9 o clock at night at this point. We get to the hotel, and it is great. Exactly as described by Crystal. Even though we arrive just after the end of dinner serving time, the hotel allowed us to quickly jump in and grab a quick bite to eat. The next day, I get up early. First day on the slopes!!! Draw back the curtain, and OMG!!!(to put it lightly), there is no snow. So I get my girlfriend out of bed (you can imagine she is not best pleased), we head to breakfast, which is fantastic, and get ourselves sorted and head to the bus stop. I have to say I am not used to this part of a trip. I am used to the French resorts where generally the lifts are in town, so getting the bus to the lifts was a bit annoying but it was only a 10 minute trip. Be warned though, the second and third buses of the day are packed!! And if you are one of the last stops (like our hotel was) the bus will just not stop as there is no space. So the early bird really does catch the bus!! Having got used to the bus, and being a bit of a sardine, the lifts were next and (much like with the buses) if you get there at peak time, be prepared to queue. And queue with a lot of angry, arrogant Russians and their offspring!! I have heard about Russians before, but this trip really opened my eyes. This was the only real downer of the whole trip. If you can deal with them, and just ignore it, you'll have a great time. Just expect to be pushed out the way in queues, cut up on the slopes and generally bullied if you have the displeasure of coming into the same area as Russians. It may have just been the time of year we went, but it seemed very busy and full of the fore-mentioned people. Kaprun's glacier is spectacular though, the view down the valley over looking the lake is simply breath taking, and the view the other way across the mountain range is just as spectacular. Enough of a distraction to soon make you forget those pesky Russians!! The ski area up the top is relatively small (compared with the French resorts), but caters for absolutely everything. The off-piste is fantastic, but soon gets chopped up making it almost unridable (again get up there early and it will be so worthwhile). The park, again although small, as everything squeezed into it. If you have lost that part of your brain that says "no, that's just too big!!" and you just go and "huck" it, then there is plenty to keep you occupied, and make the most of that travel insurance. Massive kickers and a super pipe, plus some rails too. The piste areas are good and fun, and were great for my girlfriend to build up confidence, and practice the basics. She was going down reds by the end of the trip!! But when it got busy it just became too crowded, and we ended up drinking a lot of hot chocolate. We did venture over to the Maiskogel hill which was actually a really nice, tree lined mountain. You could probably find some nice "back-country" elements in there. It was quiet when we went so it was fun, although as we got towards the bottom, it just became ice and slush. It was literally like riding over a big brown hush puppy. Sadly, this was just due to the mild winter. When we went out on the Crystal pub crawl, I spoke with one of the reps and he told me that there is shockingly low amount of snow that season. The season before he was walking around knee deep in the stuff in the town, so we just chose a bad snow year to go. The Crystal pub crawl was loads of fun, and a great way to get to know the reps. A great night out and really well organised by the Crystal team. There were also ski day trips organised by the team, but due to my girlfriend's snowboarding level and experience we shoes not to go on them. A couple who we got chatting to, told us it was a nice fun day. Kaprun as a town is quiet, deathly quiet! If you are looking to have as much fun with après as you had on the slopes, then forget it. There is one bar, but even that closes around 11 I think! Instead book to go stay in Zell am See. This is where the young people go, and where the pub crawl takes place. Don't fear though, those of you with a lift pass get free bus trips to and from the slopes up until last lifts I believe. There are slopes over at Zell am See, but again due to the mild winter, the snow had pretty much all but gone over there so we never went up there. Overall our trip was great fun. We were unfortunate with the weather, but this is what you have to plan for with the outdoors. Our hotel was fantastic and the staff were great (I must say the Austrian people are great after my earlier comments). Kaprun, is a good resort but I probably wouldn't go back there, unless there was plenty of snow. I think if this was the case less people would've flocked to the glacier, and would use either Zell or the Maiskogel more. Crystal couldn't have been any better. The reps were great, the rep assigned to our hotel was so so friendly and so helpful. I will definitely consider Crystal again this year.

I was interested to read your account of your holiday with Crystal, do you work for them?
It’s strange that Crystal ski has been reviewed a total of 98 times since 2008 but out of these 34 of the best reviews where posted in just a 5 day period between 19th and 24th August this summer… I also think it’s a little odd that some many of Crystal ski clients should suddenly remember to add a review of last year’s skiing holiday in the height of the summer which will have been between 4 months and 6 months after the holiday.
I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation why so many good reviews where posted in such a short period of time, particularly as none of Crystal’s clients reviewed their holiday in the summer months the year before. It couldn’t be that Crystal are writing their own reviews, could it? That would be a little shabby!

I can assure you I am not in anyway associated with Crystal as a company at all. I just used them to go on holiday. I can also assure that if I want to leave a review for an experience I have had I will leave it when I want. The reason for all the reviews being left between this period is more than likely because reviewcentre.com sent out their please leave a review for your trip email some 5 months after the trip, and people didn't think to leave a review until then.
I serious hope I never end up on the same holiday as the upsetskier as not only will I end up writing a review some 5 months after my trip saying how great it was, except for some idiot who was always upset and skied while frowning and moaning at everyone for not writing their reviews promptly and in a timely fashion. Hopefully Crystal as a company will be saved from this rather unwelcome presence on its holidays, and also the resorts from its slopes. Surely if Crystal wrote their own reviews they wouldn't publicly insult a potential upset customer? That would be very shabby!

We booked this holiday late and it turned into a great family experience which all eight members really enjoyed. The Crystal ski reps were very good and accommodating and made it very enjoyable Try it for a great New Year treat and experience in Seefeld. Austria Craig

I am not easily pleased and love to have a moan. However, I could find little to moan about on my two ski trips with Crystal in the 2013/14 season. This ski season was unusual because I was able to book late and I was able to be flexible about my travel dates. My first trip was during the first week of the season just before Christmas to the Hotel Eidelweiss in Cervinia. I have skied in Cervinia many times enjoying the certainty of snow, due to the Glacier and the extensive ski area that includes Zermatt, in Switzerland. The skiing in this area is excellent with a wide variety of different runs and difficulty levels to suit all skiers. As with all ski areas visibility and weather conditions will have a significant impact on how well you ski and how much skiing you can do. If you want to see the football whilst on holiday there are some excellent bars to watch matches in; the Yeti Bar has two large screens and serves food as well as drinks. Other places to eat include the excellent Linos on the piste side of the road. This specialises in pizzas but also does an excellent cooked English breakfast that comes with a mug of tea and a glass of orange juice. This may not be what the 'Tarquins', 'Ruperts' and 'Jemimahs' are looking for but these factors add to the enjoyment of my holiday. Prior to the holiday I had made a mental note not to book into the Hotel Eidelweiss as it was a couple of hundred metres from the lifts and I hate walking any distance with my skis. However, the hotel ran a free daily mini bus to take you to the slopes. This was part of the excellent service that the hotel provide. The food was excellent and the head waiter was possibly the best head waiter that I have ever come across. An example of the attention to detail provided by the hotel is the kettle provided at breakfast that allows you to boil the water for your morning cup of tea. The hotel has a spacious lounge area and nice bar. My only criticism of the hotel was that I found it a bit too hot but I am built like a walrus and the thermostat in my house is set at 12 degrees C, so I expect normal people will find it an agreeable temperature. You had to fly from Gatwick to ski the week before Christmas. This is not good if you live up North. However, it avoided one of my criticisms of Crystal. There was no need for the buses to wait for other flights to arrive before the buses could leave Turin for the resort. I also went with Crystal to Courmeyer in March. I primarily booked because of the excellent price and this is the only time that I have been to this resort. This trip did involve hanging around the Turin coach park waiting for other flights to arrive (about an hour even though all flights landed on schedule within 20 minutes of each other). The day that I arrived Liverpool were playing Man Utd and so it was essential that I found a bar to watch the football soon after I arrived. There was a super bar called 'The American Bar' on the main street in the town where the food was excellent and there was a good choice of beers. The afternoon was made all the more enjoyable as Liverpool thrashed Man Utd in a fully deserved win. I returned the following Saturday to see Chelsea beat Arsenal 6-0. The food and drink was excellent in this bar, only surpassed by the excellent service provided by the staff at the bar. Whilst I was in Courmeyer conditions were very sunny. In these conditions there is not really a week's skiing for more experienced skiers as the lift to a linked French resort was shut. However, I enjoyed the skiing here and would return in future. The excellent Crystal Reps in this resort organised a trip to Pila for 25 Euros, their bus picked me up from the hotel and my Courmeyer lift pass gave me a day skiing in Pila too. this seemed like an excellent resort and I would like to ski here again. A bus runs from the bus station to Pila for a small number of Euros and this is worth knowing if your hotel is close to the bus station, my hotel was not. You can travel cheaply to other local resorts from the bus station too. Normally when I book a hotel I try to book one close to the slopes. I booked the Dei Camosci blind and it was a long way from the slopes. However, most of the hotels in this resort are a long way from the slopes. My advice is to book a hotel that runs a free mini bus service to the hotel, like the Dei Camosci. There is a regular morning mini bus that picks you up from the slopes at the end of the day too. I think it runs every 30 minutes. The food that I had at this hotel was some of the best that I have ever eaten. It was not all to my taste because I am quite fussy about what I eat; for example, I do not eat most vegetables and whenever I have tried to eat peas they have made me sick. However, the food here was brilliant as was the service provided throughout the hotel. For example, I rested on day 3 as I had tweaked a knee. I was sitting in the sun, on a bench, in front of the hotel and a member of staff came out to offer me a deck chair. The accommodation was small and comfortable which is fine as you only sleep and shower there. The hotel has a huge lounge area on the ground floor with free wifi for those people that cannot survive for a week without their electronic devices. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the main centre from this hotel but I did not find that burdensome and there is a cheap supermarket 2 minutes in the other direction so that you can top up on drinks and snacks for the week. The enjoyment of a ski holiday will always depend on ski conditions and good weather but the vast majority of the 'controllables' were right on both these trips.

Having been skiing for over 12 seasons, I have tried many of the larger tour companies and can honestly say I had had the best experience thus far with Crystal. With a package, you expect delays and early starts on departure arrival, so I was pleasantly suprised that we left quite quickly on arrival at the airport. The team were always visible throughout the week and if you asked any questions they were quick to assist and very enthusiastic, with great local knowledge.

Really enjoyed our holiday here, from the moment we booked the quality and quantity if information we received was excellent ensuring we were well prepared to start our holiday running (or should that be skiing). Hotel was fantastic with great access to the slopes. Hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful, ensuring we were well looked after, quality of food was excellent. Room was very comfortable and clean as were the Spa facilities. Slopes were challenging with some of the blues feeling like red, reds feeling like blacks, however plenty of options to meander or bomb down the slopes. Eating and drinking establishments on the slopes were also good value, with great atmosphere. Looking forward to a return visit.

I have used Crystal in the past with a bit of disappointment, flight delays and erg. Now a few years on, and they seem to have improved with low key reps, but very helpful all the same. Really enjoyed the facility they provided, and the service. Shame the directions once off the coach were not clear to us, we went the wrong way! But all in all will use again.

Great accomodation and resort in Flaine. Stuck with Crystal for the 4th year running - ski plus is a real positive if you can get it. Resort was ideal for different levels of skier - covers basic through to competent and sure there are some hard ones out there for the adventurous. Not suited for off piste at all - some scare stories about the cornices and drops. If the locals don't do it , don't.

Had a great holiday have booked early to go again with friends. Since booking early you now fly to a closer airport. We for booking early have to endure a four hour transfer. Anyone booking later than us only has an hour and half transfer. Have raised this with you. Your not interested you don't care. As a result we will not be using your company ever again your public relation policies are pitiful

We had a great time with Crystal in Cervinia, we enjoyed the trips we went on, they were sensibly priced, the reps were not pushy. Hotel was nice. Would definatly use again

Been all over Europe, decided to go back to Austria and try Mayrhofen. The hotel we stayed in was just far enough away from the noisy bars and the ski bus was an easy 2 minute walk. Referring to the online description of the hotel and facilities I found Crystal to be spot on. Most of the Crystal reps we met were very pleasant, accommodating and made you feel valued as a customer. As a skier who likes challenging runs and blacks, I found the length and amount of runs a little disappointing. There seems to be more focus on fancy ski lifts than extending the ski area to make it more interesting. The only thing that would probably deter me from going again was the fight to get in to the gondola in a morning, which sometimes could be dangerous, especially if you have kids trying to get in to the same gondola. Equipment hire was good and storage was easy. Happy to say we've been, as well as visiting the Ice Bar.

Hi, thanks for posting this review.
We're glad to hear you enjoyed Mayrhofen. We love the runs - especially the Harikiri - but you're right that the gondola battle can sometimes grate (especially after a long night on the apres!) We'd love to see you back in Mayrhofen, but would be happy to find you another resort if you fancied something different next year.
Thanks,
Nick,

The best holiday ever the room was excellent the food good and plentiful. The hotel owner brilliant and even had a swimming pool. The only downer was a chaotic airport arrival being told which number our coach transfer was and it didn't exist.Could do better!

Great late-booking week very well coordinated by the Crystal staff at the call centre. Bellevue Hotel is superb with friendly hosts and outstanding food every day. Obergurgl is a perfect family resort with limited capacity so no queues, wide runs, great views, guaranteed snow and fantastic cafes, bars and restaurants on the pistes including a brilliant apres ski bar. Will definitely go back next winter!

Rest assured, upsetskier, I do not work for Crystal - the comment was submitted in response to an email from them asking for feedback and I duly obliged. Not sure whether there is much to choose between these ski companies but we were genuinely impressed with the deal and the way it was handled. I would have made the same comments about the resort and hotel regardless of the operator; it was our first time there...

Welcomed at airport, quickly got under way. Purchased lift passes on journey to hotel, handed passes straight away - set to head out the following morning. Attended welcome meeting - we didn't get much from the meeting as we had stayed in that particular hotel before & had stayed in that resort several times before - so no surprises there. Reps were on hand if you needed them, we noticed their presence in the hotel reception.

I booked a week's skiing over Christmas. We took the overnight Eurostar to the French Alps, which gives you eight days on the slopes instead of six, with no extra accommodation costs. Bargain! The only slight annoyance was that the Crystal website doesn't offer eight-day ski passes for all resorts, so there was a bit of messing around in the transfer bus signing up for one-day passes for the first and last days. The staff were very helpful in-resort, and Crystal offer a wide range of destinations with a decent level of information to choose a resort that suits your skills and preferences. So I can definitely recommend them.

Hi, thanks for posting this review.
We're really glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday in the French Alps - the Eurostar is such a great option. Thanks for the feedback as well about 8 day passes - we'll send this over to our team and see what they can do.
Hope to see you on the slopes again this winter.
Thanks,
Nick,

I appreciate your scepticism, and I can't vouch for any other reviewer, but I personally don't work for Crystal Ski. I had a genuinely good time and gave them positive feedback in Dec/Jan, as soon as I returned to the UK. Then in August, they sent me an email asking me to write a review on reviewcentre.com, which explains the timing. So it's perfectly possible that they hand-picked people who had given them positive feedback, and pinged them all in the same week. So you'd be right to think that the reviews were not spontaneous, and probably carefully selected, but honestly they would be crazy to write their own reviews. They don't need to, and the brand damage if they got found out would be immense.

This company has gone downhill quicker than their skis! It’s all about making money and lying to you to get it. Fell for it a few times 2 weeks ago. It’s all one big money making holiday/experience now. No respect for customers at all unless you’re pouring money out of your wallet and that respect only lasts as long as time you had your wallet open. Awful company now
