“Poor after sales service”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 30/08/2021

Initially good after sales service however after a year and a half they still have not replaced the roof trim which fell off 3 months after we moved in. They haven't even been out to look at it. I have constantly contacted them about it. I will not have to go to NHBC to see if they can resolve it. The house is nice but not sure all the pressure and hassle they give you to buy is worth it with such bad after sales service.

“nice houses shame about the customer aftercare”

★★☆☆☆

written by Kennedy483 on 12/07/2018

Appalling customer aftercare given by some individuals within Hopkin homes. He doesn’t deserve the job title “customer care manager”. Never said sorry for mistakes they made, never returned your calls or emails – never put himself out when we had to. I felt sorry for his team who were the brunt of our concerns and frustration due to the lack of care he showed. This was also echoed by many other home owners on the same estate

written by Perfecinist on 27/01/2018

Have had nothing but problems since buying this home has been nothing short of a nightmare ground not sorted before it was built so flooding occurred and as pensioners not what we dreamed of as were looking for a relaxed life far from it ,have just walked into kitchen to find dishwasher has flooded water out under sink unsatisfactory plumbing the list goes on what will be next ,should we be putting up with these standards, things need to change.

“Waterworks problems”

★★☆☆☆

written by canaries1 on 07/10/2016

Bought our hose 1 1/2 years ago, and although initially pleased we have had myriad problems with our water system. Toilets dripping, not flushing, shower not emptying, one toilet out of action for months whilst the garden was dug up to sort the drains. Worst of all a pipe union came undone in the bathroom with sent water everywhere and now a leak in the en-suite which has soaked our newly decorated living room both of the problems would have been so much worse if we had not been in the house. We are now worried what will happen if we were to go away on holiday what we would come back to. Very disapointed with the quality of workmanship and would never buy another Hopkins House.

We are having trouble with drains but Hopkins homes are stating they are fine - when clearly they are not. A lot of us are having trouble with smells from drains and I personally have toilets with little to no water in the bowl - been told that’s normal - it isn’t - have u got your drains sorted

“Lack of care and support post sale”

★★☆☆☆

written by HarleyBradford400 on 18/01/2016

We purchased a new home in the old Aylsham hospital complex. The finish is generally good but bizarrely some aspects are well done with nice materials others not so good with cheap products. However, to try and get Hopkins homes to come back on site and rectify problems is virtually impossible. In the storms of Autumn 2014 around 60 tiles broke loose and some guttering from a neighbours roof; this affected our garden. This was repeatedly reported throughout the year with cursory responses and nothing completed resulting in floods around our front door when it rained heavily. On 24 Dec 15 during some heavy rain the piece of guttering narrowly missed me as I exited the door. Reporting this to Mr Cox, along with my frustration, no reply or acknowledgement has been received.hence the Company simply do not appear to care; once rid of the house they are rid of you.

“Not impressed with this so called award winning builder!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 22/10/2012

We bought a four bedroom house, but can only use three bedrooms for half of the year. The reason behind this is our bedroom above the garage is freezing cold during the winter months. We are unable to heat it above 16 degrees and is totally unusable. On speaking to other residents of similar houses on site, this is not an in common complaint. Our experience with customer services has been poor. At no point when purchasing this house were we told that our room above the garage would be colder than the rest of the house, yet the customer services manager later told us that it would always be a cold room. The fact that there are also holes in the insulation on investigation will still not change Hopkins into putting a better insulation layer in, even though the whole of the garage ceiling will have to come down. It seems a simple remedy to fix, as Hopkins themselves admitted they improved their insulation for the house opposite us, which was built a couple of months later!

Hi just wondering if this is how all new builds work.?  We have just reserved a Hopkins house and paid £1000 reservation fee. In 4 weeks time we have to exchange contracts and pay a 10% deposit of 30,000. The house isn’t ready until end of March next year. A whole 9 months away, could be even more, due to coronavirus. Is it reasonable to ask if we can wait to exchange contracts and pay the deposit maybe 3 months before the house is built? As anything could happen in 9 months time! At least 3 months before the risk is less. Thanks
