We have had a fantastic day here at Davenport Green Hall, our wedding was 28th march 2014. The service & food has been second to none and we have had nothing but fantastic feedback from all of our guests. Nothing has been too much trouble and they have catered for every request. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to any couple looking for a truly magical wedding day. Craig and Helen Cartledge

we had booked this venue for my brothers wedding on March 16th 2014, the venue was amazing. We had the civil ceremony in the Historic Dining Room which was very intimate and very traditional, just as we wanted it. We had the wedding at the Cheshire Barn which again was very nice. The staff was helpful and did all of the setting up , not like most venues where you have to set up yourself and put décor on the table etc. Overall, the venue and scenic views were amazing and you could not get another venue like this. Food was also great and nice. Staff was on their feet ensuring that everyone had enough food etc and no one rushed us out of the venue like the majority of venues in Manchester.

We just got married at DPGH, there's lots of bad press going on because of the owners conviction for the marquee and although a lot of things changed from booking the venue to having our wedding, the actual day went wonderfully. The staff were VERY attentive, the staff got back to us within the day of any questions or queries we had. They need to brush up on simple things, simple things like don't change the venue in any way without informing your customers, also there's a high turn over of staff but there's no fluidity or communication between the different members or the constant staff. Our wedding planner was great but some of the small things were missed on the day - like horseraddish on the tables when you've put that on the requirements, not enough gravy in the boats etc, the bar in the white lounge needed repairing in February when we'd told them about it in December. That said, when we pointed anything out - AT ALL- the staff were on it. They really were wonderful. The grounds were glorious, the venue was gorgeous and the staff were fantastic. The bar staff but also Sultan, Nick and the main bar guy were just fantastic. They said to us, if you want anything at all, tell us and we'll make it happen. You can't really ask for more than that. Our guests on the day were blown away with the wonderful service and the friendly atmosphere, the babies were also happy with the provisions you'd made for them. A big thank you to you all for making our day wonderful.

So reassuring to read a positive review at last. We too have a wedding here this summer and was becoming increasingly alarmed at the comments about food and high turnover of staff. This venue is not cheap and you want everything to be perfect. Out of curiosity who was your last wedding coordinator.
You have made me feel so much better with this review

Hi, She is the wedding planner there at the minute, we booked our wedding in May 2012 so we've had 2 years of staff turnover but I have to be honest, they know what they're doing. The food we had on the day was way nicer than the food tasting and even that was lovely. Put everything in writing, follow through with any concerns, they will do anything you ask - you just might have to ask them but I know how you feel. You start thinking 'what if- what if' but honestly, it's so good on the day, they really are great and it all just goes wonderfully. Good wishes to you and your fiance x

We to have a wedding this summer & are shocked at the vast turnover of staff & the lack of communication. When we first booked the venue the standards where a lot higher & this was one of the reasons for booking it . We are concerned about the cleanliness of the place. Ladies toilets smell awful, they are filthy need a good cleaning. We where told the reason for broken furniture & state of toilets was because of a fight that broke out at a wedding. The bar in the white room is still damaged & filthy. Also I don't know the last time the glass was cleaned in the white room. We told them if the place had been like it is now when we first went we would NOT have booked it . Plus they don't seem to be bothered & just tell you lies . Fingers crossed everything will be okay on the day . STRESSED

Thanks for taking the time to write review for us. The owner was not convicted but only lost the case with trafford council over the temporary marquee. We are now planning to get permit for permanent marquee instead. Simple things always happen but we always trying to make things better. We wish you happy married life :)

I recently got married at Davenport Green Hall and I must admit I had my doubts due to bad reports I had heard. When first visiting the venue we were blown away with how stunning it was and booked straight away. There were a few things we picked up on which we didn't like but we informed the staff and it was dealt with immediately. As the day grew closer my nervous got the better of me just hoping that everything would go right. The big day came, the sun shone in the clear blue sky and from the Rolls Royce picking me up, to the ceremony, the drinks reception, the wedding breakfast and evening reception everything was absolutely perfect! The staff were amazing. They tended to every need, so professional and the day ran like clockwork. They even helped out on downloading software for a slideshow I was showing at the wedding breakfast. The guests still talk about the day, how good the food was and how it was just brilliant from start to finish. The best wedding I have ever been too is what I have from most! I really cannot fault DGH, they made my wedding day even better than I could have ever imagined.

Hello,
I am also getting married at Davenport and was getting worried with the reviews I had read. Glad your day went perfect its made me feel slightly better about ours now. X
Written on: 27/01/2014
Honestly, I was really worried, but it just shows you that you shouldn't always listen to hearsay or believe everything you read. The staff couldn't have done enough for us. It still makes me smile thinking about amazing the day was. Discuss any concerns with the lady we dealt with, she's brilliant and will help where she can

Good luck to you, pay careful attention to our review, it is the full truth. If you can get out, take advice to do so - you do realise that the marquee will disappear as sentencing was due this week due to planning permission issues which have gone on for years?? Read the experience of the New Year's Eve party recently.
If you can't get out make sure you have everything planned yourself to the tiniest details and make family/friends fully aware of how the day should run so they can help on the day.
We wish no-one the experience we have & genuinely hope DGH have improved, but I would not hold my breath.

We got married in the historic room, then had drinks in the white lounge, wedding breakfast and evening reception in the Cheshire barn and it all ran so smoothly. We didn't have to ask for anything to be done as it already had been done. As I am very particular, I did all my own dressing if the venue so ensured beforehand that everyone was aware of what was happening and just made sure it was all in writing. I was allowed to dress the venue the evening before the wedding and anything I had concerns about were addressed. I would do it all again there tomorrow if I could. My advice would just be plan, communicate with staff, put everything in writing so nothing should go wrong, and if possible set the room the day before so you can make sure everything is how you want it.

Well were shall I start davenport green hall is my favourite green hall absolutely outstanding in every aspect from the staff being very polite and helpful, even the car park attendants were polite and helpful. And as for the waiters and waitresses well they went further to please us than any other wedding venues I have been to including any restaurants , I was blown away with the tawa service both starters and mains were served very warm and naans were fresh including all salads, it's truly a sight to behold sizzling hot tawas being served at your tables whilst guests were seated never had that experience ever before. As for the staff well never had to wait for my drink to be refilled and service was prompt I was very impressed.and the venue absolutely stunning never new such places existed so close to Manchester and access was good no problems with parking even to the point I was told I could leave my car overnight how refreshing not having to worry about driving after a few drinks. Furthermore I cannot wait for another taste of DGH as I have come to know this place THANK YOU

We got married at Davenport Green Hall in June 2013, and it was absolutely wonderful, we had a perfect day!! Everyone commented on how lovely the grounds were and the staff were incredibly helpful, they couldn't have done more on the day. Our wedding planner, was fantastic in the lead up to the wedding, and always answered queries promptly, and was great with suggestions when I was a bit bewildered about where to start with things. We can't thank everyone enough for making our day so special, it really was perfect, and our photos look amazing, there are so many lovely photo opportunities in the grounds!

We held our daughters 18th birthday party here last week and over 130 guests had a wonderful time. Sarah (our contact at DGH) was an absolute diamond, nothing was too much trouble, and throughout the whole planning of the party, she kept in touch with us and made the planning and the run up to the party an absolute breeze. On the evening itself, everyone commented on what a lovely place it is, the staff were incredibly attentive and the room was wonderful. Thank you to you all at Davenport Green for making our daughters 18th a night to remember. We will be back!!

My partner and I were wedded at the Davenport Green Hall this March and we could not have wished for a more idyllic wedding day (except for better weather!!). This is a beautiful wedding venue with large picturesque gardens which look lovely in our photographs. The decor is extremely tasteful and the old architecture in the ceremony hall adds a certain traditional, rustic feel. The staff were excellent, right the way through the day from the champagne reception, the food service and throughout the evening they did everything they could to ensure that our every need or request was satisfied. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Davenport Green Hall on behalf of ourselves and all our guests. A wonderful time was had by all.

The Davenport Green Hall venue in itself provides a perfect setting for the ceremony, the photographs and the reception. This can be said for a lot of venues, but what my wife and I, including all our guests said, that what sets this place apart from others is that the staff were the most respectful, attentive and friendly I have seen in most of my years (43). We arranged our wedding in just 3 weeks and were married on 12 January 2013. With the Christmas and New Year holidays upon us, this made the effort of the DGH staff all the more difficult. Sarah was outstanding in arranging everything helped by Nicola, even with late additions and table number changes. The service on the day was extraordinary and they could not do enough for us. The bar service was electric with no guests having to wait long for service and the DJ arranged by the venue asked plenty of questions in advance to ensure everyone enjoyed the night on the dance floor too (8 to 77 years). We chose the buffet service and it was so difficult to choose just 2 courses from the great menu offered, however, when delivered, I have no doubt, any of the choices would have been just as amazing. The location also makes it perfect, close to the airport, lots of hotels of various price ranges and the agreement with Etrop Grange, simple. However, the bridal suite was unbelievably perfect and the 3 other rooms provided assisted the 6 unexpected guests in our room that night when I ejected them at 2:30 am. All rounded off with a relaxing breakfast in our own time that morning. All up, I would recommend DGH to anyone who wishes to ensure a perfect wedding.

As a guest at the wedding, (who did not stay over) I enjoyed the atmosphere, the setting and the picture settings (shame they could not do anything about the freezing weather outside) but once back inside with a nice glass of champers we all soon thawed out.
Lovely friendly staff. Had a great relaxing day.

I had my wedding reception here on the 3rd of August 2012. The venue was beautiful but it was the staff that made it truely special. They were, as can only be described, outstanding. Nothing was too much effort for them. They catered to my guests in a wonderful way, everyone commented on how well looked after they were. I have never seen detail to attention like it. I have been to many weddings but i have never witnessed such a dedicated and professional staff. They made it a wonderful day and i am so glad i chose to have my reception at DGH. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work. Mrs M Smith

First of all I am writing this review not as a bride or groom but as a bridesmaid on my friends wedding day 25/08/12. Felt I had to write about our experience, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left which by the way the lovely owner gave us a lift back to our hotel in his rolls royce which was luxury. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent with plenty of friendly helpful staff. The barn was an excellent venue for the evening entertainment with lovely bar and music and the volume was perfect, perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you for making the bride and groom's ' best day of their lives ' in their words!

Wow where do I start! MY husband and I held our wedding reception here two days ago and we are still in complete shock at how amazing we were treated on our special day. From the second I came out of the car untill the second I stepped in it I was made to feel like a princess. Despite the horrendous weather (thunder and lightning!!) The staff worked relentlessly to ensures that this did not effec ts my day from standing waiting with umbrellas to cover me to assisting with the photographs it felt like the sun was beaming! I have received countless calls and texts from my guests commenting on amazing the staff where and treated them all exceptionally well the food is undeniably the nicest food we have ever eaten at a wedding and was am extremely generous portion. I genuinely have tears in my eyes when I think of how wonderful I was treated by all use staff particularly Zahir and Sultan, whom were extremely helpfulcourteous and went beyond the call of duty on many occasions including when I missed part of supper as I was tom busy chatting outside! They made two fish and chip cones fresh for me and my husband! My amazing day was ended with a dream come true by raja's kindness in driving one of our special friends home in hip phantom! UNfortunately uhere is not fox ii space to describe euesystemthing however I highly highly scomment this venue and give special thanks to Janet for ensuring MY day went amazingly well to nina for ensuring all the staff delivered thank you so very very much your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten!! "Following our perfect wedding on the 13th of November and having now returned from a lovely honeymoon, we wanted to praise the efforts and thorough professionalism of Laura. Her dedication, care and attention to each and every task was remarkable. Remembering and noting every detail discussed. Joanne we met only one (before Laura's appointment) but we found her helpful attitude set the precedence for everyone we were about to meet. Harri in particular deserves a special mention. He remained courteous, polite and ever the consummate professional. Nothing was too much trouble. Not even when asked to move a few boxes from the grounds so that the photographer could create and capture a particular shot. Humble in every task. We never had to ask twice for something to be done. The complete communication between the staff, particularly Laura and Harri, meant there was no need to repeat anything which had previously been discussed with one to the other. They knew exactly what had been agreed and each task was carried out with enthusiasm, pride and genuine care. Sarah is held in equally high regard by ourselves. Her calm yet confident nature enabled her to slip into the background unnoticed, yet when needed all you did was look up and somehow she instinctively knew and appeared ready to deal with your query. Tim was there last thing at night providing cups of tea for the 75 year old mum and auntie of the Groom and then there he was first thing in the morning to greet us with a smile and a pot of hot coffee. Enthusiastic and friendly putting each of our overnight guests at ease not to mention delivering some lovely breakfast treats! This leads us nicely to the Chefs. The Head Chef, Glenn and the rest of the kitchen staff served us with meals all weekend which were simply divine. Our Friday night guest were so thrilled with the tasty and beautifully presented dishes that they were raving about the food to our Saturday Wedding guests - who, by the way, all thoroughly enjoyed the wedding breakfast and the evening curry too. Every course was a delight. Going back to 'arrivals', ourselves and our guests were amazed and delighted by the incredibly respectful manner in which they were greeted by the staff. Directing vehicles into the car park, opening doors of taxis and transporting guests' luggage carefully and helpfully to their rooms. The waiters, waitresses and bar staff catered politely and discreetly, when required, and without issue. The maintenance gentleman spent time on both Friday and Saturday carefully gathering the fallen leaves to ensure the grounds were presented neatly and tidily ready for those all-important wedding photographs! We are sure there were many more wonderful things your staff did for us which we, as the Bride and Groom, would have been unaware of. Therefore for all of those things, we again offer our sincere gratitude. All of DGH's dedicated staff were a pleasure to deal with. They were methodical, organised and confident. Their composed and professional attitudes showed in the way they provided their respective services. Taking care of every last detail gave a highly personal touch to our very special event, and for that, we owe a great deal of thanks to each member of DGH's hard-working staff. We could not have been more pleased with the beautiful, historical and breath-taking venue but added to this were the most professional staff taking pride in each and every aspect of their jobs. There truly is a fantastic team at Davenport Green Hall working together to create really special events and moments in people's lives."

Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful event. I have been receiving calls all morning from guests who were amazed by the venue, I believe you will be getting many more bookings from this, American Airlines and Virgin, to name only two suggested they would be looking to hold events with you.
most people were surprised how close you are to the Airport yet they weren't aware you are there !
On a personal note: I would like to thank you for the attention to detail you gave us with the decoration etc, the marquee looked stunning, I would also like to say you have a tremendous asset in Afthab, he is certainly a credit to you, he looked after us perfectly throughout, and it was a pleasure to work with him, he know exactly what I wanted and delivered it to the letter.
Afthab
Thank you so very much for everything you did to make the event the great success it was, I am so pleased you were with me throughout. (you really need to get ashtrays outside though !! hehe)
Thank you both very much again

Held a wedding there in September 2010. Fabulous venue with magical views over the grounds for both the ceremony and photographs.
The Pavillion is very spacious and is well fitted out - only marquee I know of with picture windows over the surrounding countryside. The reception area is particularly attractive with new bar and chandaliers and deep pile carpet with external tiled decking beyond.
Ample parking and lovely gardens.
Very helpful and obliging staff.

Initially this looks good but there is bad food, bad wine, awful service and organisation - avoid, avoid, avoid
