“Unsure if this is too good to be true?!”

★★☆☆☆

written by O'Donnellrl162 on 07/12/2014

Hello, just wondered if anyone could give me any advice about this venue. We have been to visit the grounds a few weeks ago and found them to be wonderful. We absolutely loved the place but was very put off by the toilets as they absolutely stank and did not feel at all clean. There was however a wedding on the day before so just figured it could be that.. although I still think with a good clean the toilets could be much better with a refurb. The staff member who showed us around was very helpful and seemed to offer us an exceptional discount! There was mention of a michelin star chef and to be honest everything just seemed to be too perfect, alarm bells started ringing thinking maybe it was too good to be true! So we get home to do a bit of research and see so many bad reviews which was a little surprising.. so we look into it further and see the past 2 food hygiene ratings (0 and 1) and have been immediately put off. We are gutted as we liked the venue so much! However, this is something we cannot really look past. Can I just ask how other peoples experiences have been? A few people have said the place is very unprofessional, but I have seen good reviews to. We certainly will not be booking due to food hygiene as it is rather appalling to get 0 and then only improve with a 1. However, we will probably keep our eye on this and hope it improves. So.. The price seems too good to be true! Is it??

We have booked our wedding here for August and I know a few people who have already married here and nothing but good reports. It is out of season and they are doing more to the venue in the new year

Hello, thank you for this review. We have decided to not consider this venue anymore. I'm not sure if you have seen below comments on my post, but the Manchester Evening News and Daily Mail have articles exposing the venues filthy habits and these were reported today following a visit from environmental health. I originally deliberated from writing this on your post as the last thing i would want to do is put doubt in your head, knowing it has been booked. However, i feel it necessary as you have paid for a service and under recent conditions feel you may be entitled to claim money back. If this is something you wanted to do, definitely check out the article and maybe contact someone for advice with regards to this.

I forgot to mention, the large marquee has been removed following a planning dispute I believe. Shame as I was looking at booking it for our reception.

I am looking at this venue but was 100% put off by the recent article in the MEN - this place has had it's licence revoked due to a client going to the council about the kitchen - the place is discusting behind the scenes although it looks amazing everywhere else! DONT GET MARRIED HERE!!!!

Our experience of DGH was terrible!
We were told the toilets were to be sorted before our wedding day, they were not, we paid to cater for 150 evening guests, and about 20 were fed, and the bacon baps were cold and the fish cones too salty to eat (apparently as we didnt even know they had served food nor did the majority of our guests!)
we were left feeling bitterly disappointed.
the bridal suite and guest rooms were damp and dirty.
the staff made promises they did not deliver, and we would certainly not recommend to anyone to waste their money here.
The venue is beautiful, such a waste.
Having just seen the reviews in the manchester evening news this week, they only confirm what we sadly found out on our special day!
dont waste your money, your special day should be everything you dreamt of and discussed with your wedding coordinater and venue, not what you are promised but not delivered.
i wouldnt even award one star, but it is compulsory i do to write the review.

I cannot thank you enough for this review. To be honest we wouldn't of booked with current food hygiene ratings, however it will never be considered now. Shame really as it is a beautiful venue. Apologies that you found this out too late. I still cannot believe the MEN and Daily Mail articles today! How does a business let conditions get so bad?! Disgusting even. All is well that this has been exposed, hopefully those who have booked weddings there may be able to cancel!

We have had a fantastic day here at Davenport Green Hall, our wedding was 28th march 2014. The service & food has been second to none and we have had nothing but fantastic feedback from all of our guests. Nothing has been too much trouble and they have catered for every request. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to any couple looking for a truly magical wedding day. Craig and Helen Cartledge

“WEDDING VENUE AMAZING ”

★★★★★

written by Smithsb469 on 01/04/2014

we had booked this venue for my brothers wedding on March 16th 2014, the venue was amazing. We had the civil ceremony in the Historic Dining Room which was very intimate and very traditional, just as we wanted it. We had the wedding at the Cheshire Barn which again was very nice. The staff was helpful and did all of the setting up , not like most venues where you have to set up yourself and put décor on the table etc. Overall, the venue and scenic views were amazing and you could not get another venue like this. Food was also great and nice. Staff was on their feet ensuring that everyone had enough food etc and no one rushed us out of the venue like the majority of venues in Manchester.

“Wedding at DPGH - February 2014”

★★★★★

written by Drelli on 04/03/2014

We just got married at DPGH, there's lots of bad press going on because of the owners conviction for the marquee and although a lot of things changed from booking the venue to having our wedding, the actual day went wonderfully. The staff were VERY attentive, the staff got back to us within the day of any questions or queries we had. They need to brush up on simple things, simple things like don't change the venue in any way without informing your customers, also there's a high turn over of staff but there's no fluidity or communication between the different members or the constant staff. Our wedding planner was great but some of the small things were missed on the day - like horseraddish on the tables when you've put that on the requirements, not enough gravy in the boats etc, the bar in the white lounge needed repairing in February when we'd told them about it in December. That said, when we pointed anything out - AT ALL- the staff were on it. They really were wonderful. The grounds were glorious, the venue was gorgeous and the staff were fantastic. The bar staff but also Sultan, Nick and the main bar guy were just fantastic. They said to us, if you want anything at all, tell us and we'll make it happen. You can't really ask for more than that. Our guests on the day were blown away with the wonderful service and the friendly atmosphere, the babies were also happy with the provisions you'd made for them. A big thank you to you all for making our day wonderful.

So reassuring to read a positive review at last. We too have a wedding here this summer and was becoming increasingly alarmed at the comments about food and high turnover of staff. This venue is not cheap and you want everything to be perfect. Out of curiosity who was your last wedding coordinator.

You have made me feel so much better with this review

Hi, She is the wedding planner there at the minute, we booked our wedding in May 2012 so we've had 2 years of staff turnover but I have to be honest, they know what they're doing. The food we had on the day was way nicer than the food tasting and even that was lovely. Put everything in writing, follow through with any concerns, they will do anything you ask - you just might have to ask them but I know how you feel. You start thinking 'what if- what if' but honestly, it's so good on the day, they really are great and it all just goes wonderfully. Good wishes to you and your fiance x

We to have a wedding this summer & are shocked at the vast turnover of staff & the lack of communication. When we first booked the venue the standards where a lot higher & this was one of the reasons for booking it . We are concerned about the cleanliness of the place. Ladies toilets smell awful, they are filthy need a good cleaning. We where told the reason for broken furniture & state of toilets was because of a fight that broke out at a wedding. The bar in the white room is still damaged & filthy. Also I don't know the last time the glass was cleaned in the white room. We told them if the place had been like it is now when we first went we would NOT have booked it . Plus they don't seem to be bothered & just tell you lies . Fingers crossed everything will be okay on the day . STRESSED

Thanks for taking the time to write review for us. The owner was not convicted but only lost the case with trafford council over the temporary marquee. We are now planning to get permit for permanent marquee instead. Simple things always happen but we always trying to make things better. We wish you happy married life :)

“Don't Go There!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by marydolan on 10/01/2014

Attended the New Year's Eve dinner at Davenport Hall but I have to say it was a BIG disappointment. When we booked in November we were told it was Masquerade and Black Tie but both were optional. I asked whether the staff would be wearing masques and was told Yes! Needless to say we were the only ones in masques and DJ's!!! I paid the full amount in early December and was told they had sold 70 tickets. On the night there were 26 of us!!!!!!!! (16 of whom were our own party!). Their excuse was that a party of 40 had cancelled 2 days before !!! Not a good start to a great New Year's Eve! We were also told we would be in the barn but ended up in the house as there were so few of us! They hadn't bothered to tell us this, we only found out when we arrived on the night! When I booked, I repeatedly asked for a menu and it was finally emailed to me on 17th Dec. I responded by asking whether we had to send in our choices (only 2 options - veg or meat) but received no reply. On 30th Dec I emailed to say that as I hadn't received a reply I assumed we chose on the night. I then got a quick response asking for options straight away and had to chase everyone up! On the night the venue was nicely presented and the food was good. The service, however, was random and the drinks were expensive and very poor choice. They had no draught beer in the house, though later in the evening the bar staff would go over to the barn to fetch a pint if you paid first (£5). The wine was awful!!! Even though there were so few of us there were not enough seats for everyone so we had to sit on the steps. These were dangerous as the carpet was very dark and, in the low light, you couldn't see the edge of them. Several people slipped during the evening. The DJ was OK and there was a dancer for a short period who was good, but with so few people the evening had long lulls which were rather boring with not even a decent drink to help. We did, at one time, consider leaving and going to someone's house but decided to stick it out as we'd already paid. Finally, there was only 1 toilet and the door kept getting stuck so you had to ensure you took someone with you!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Amazing wedding Day!”

★★★★★

written by nicc12 on 25/10/2013

I recently got married at Davenport Green Hall and I must admit I had my doubts due to bad reports I had heard. When first visiting the venue we were blown away with how stunning it was and booked straight away. There were a few things we picked up on which we didn't like but we informed the staff and it was dealt with immediately. As the day grew closer my nervous got the better of me just hoping that everything would go right. The big day came, the sun shone in the clear blue sky and from the Rolls Royce picking me up, to the ceremony, the drinks reception, the wedding breakfast and evening reception everything was absolutely perfect! The staff were amazing. They tended to every need, so professional and the day ran like clockwork. They even helped out on downloading software for a slideshow I was showing at the wedding breakfast. The guests still talk about the day, how good the food was and how it was just brilliant from start to finish. The best wedding I have ever been too is what I have from most! I really cannot fault DGH, they made my wedding day even better than I could have ever imagined.

It still makes me smile thinking about amazing the day was. Discuss any concerns with the lady we dealt with, she's brilliant and will help where she can

Good luck to you, pay careful attention to our review, it is the full truth. If you can get out, take advice to do so - you do realise that the marquee will disappear as sentencing was due this week due to planning permission issues which have gone on for years?? Read the experience of the New Year's Eve party recently.
If you can't get out make sure you have everything planned yourself to the tiniest details and make family/friends fully aware of how the day should run so they can help on the day.
We wish no-one the experience we have & genuinely hope DGH have improved, but I would not hold my breath.

We got married in the historic room, then had drinks in the white lounge, wedding breakfast and evening reception in the Cheshire barn and it all ran so smoothly. We didn't have to ask for anything to be done as it already had been done. As I am very particular, I did all my own dressing if the venue so ensured beforehand that everyone was aware of what was happening and just made sure it was all in writing. I was allowed to dress the venue the evening before the wedding and anything I had concerns about were addressed. I would do it all again there tomorrow if I could. My advice would just be plan, communicate with staff, put everything in writing so nothing should go wrong, and if possible set the room the day before so you can make sure everything is how you want it.

written by Patel1 on 22/10/2013

Well were shall I start davenport green hall is my favourite green hall absolutely outstanding in every aspect from the staff being very polite and helpful, even the car park attendants were polite and helpful. And as for the waiters and waitresses well they went further to please us than any other wedding venues I have been to including any restaurants , I was blown away with the tawa service both starters and mains were served very warm and naans were fresh including all salads, it's truly a sight to behold sizzling hot tawas being served at your tables whilst guests were seated never had that experience ever before. As for the staff well never had to wait for my drink to be refilled and service was prompt I was very impressed.and the venue absolutely stunning never new such places existed so close to Manchester and access was good no problems with parking even to the point I was told I could leave my car overnight how refreshing not having to worry about driving after a few drinks. Furthermore I cannot wait for another taste of DGH as I have come to know this place THANK YOU

“DGH DISASTER”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/08/2013

Davenport Green Hall might be beautiful and you might think you are getting  a bargain BUT it will reduce your lifespan by 10 years due to the STRESS  and UNPROFESSIONAL manner in which you will be dealt with. My husband and I  are NOT COMPLAINERS but even our best-men, bridesmaids and family INSISTED  we write this review. WE READ BAD REVIEWS and we confronted the manager with them who dismissed  them, and so stupidly we thought we’ll IGNORE them and deal with them “ IT  CAN’T BE THAT BAD…” oh how wrong we were. Problem is, once you have signed,  you are BOUND TO PAY the full amount EVEN IF YOU CANCEL the wedding! Summary of a 4 page letter of complaint:  • Wedding co-ordinator for our wedding (different, I think from the  co-ordinators for the more traditional English weddings) was disorganized,  frequently got important details wrong (except those costing us more  money), disappeared the day before the wedding and has never been in touch  since. DID NOT TELL US THAT WE NEEDED A “SPECIAL” WEDDING LICENCE TO MARRY  IN THE MARQUEE: I ARRIVED TO MY WEDDING TO BE TOLD MY LICENCE WAS NOT  SUITABLE FOR THE MARQUEE AND COULD NOT MARRY IN THERE, WHERE ALL OUR GUESTS  WERE STANDING NEXT TO THE AISLE WAITING FOR ME. • Management impolite, unhelpful and occasionally simply rude, no concept  of how to treat customers. • Frequent ambiguity over what is included in the contract: IF IT IS NOT IN  WRITING IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, do NOT take this comment lightly, before you  give a single penny, ensure every single tiny last detail is recorded. They  will bully you into leaving it out of the contract, and you will regret it  later. Advice if there is any debate over this: WALK AWAY. My family told  me “not to worry” when I was trying to insist on things being written down  (having been advised so in reviews): they swallowed their words several  months later. • THEY WANT YOUR MONEY so any thing they can charge extra for they will try • DIRTY, USED, MISMATCHED LINEN, DIRTY CARPETS, LIPSTICK MARKS ON GLASSES,  BROKEN TABLE CENTRES **we have photos**: all discovered at 8pm the evening  before the wedding being set out for OUR wedding. The next day, the SAME  situation despite promises they would change them. WEDDING PARTY DID  CLEANING AND SETTING UP ON THE MORNING OF THE WEDDING WHILST NEW LINEN WAS  BOUGHT IN. • Bride arrives at 3pm, venue NOT EVEN SET UP until 3.10pm despite guests  arriving from2pm!! • THEY DROPPED THE CAKE • Potential clients being shown round OUR PRIVATE WEDDING …and the best part: the management seem to be under the illusion that this  is all normal and ok and acceptable and offered ZERO APOLOGY IF you are locked into a contract already, brace yourselves for the worst,  triple check EVERYTHING and have a GOOD team of helpers for last minute  glitches. It’s your wedding day at the end of the day, so the most  important thing is you, family, friends, try not to get upset with any DGH  disasters on the day. IF you are considering DGH, honestly, walk away and go elsewhere SERIOUSLY,  EVEN IF IT SEEMS CHEAPER IT ISNT WORTH THE STRESS. If for whatever reason  you are stuck to DGH and haven’t signed (don’t say we didn’t warn you) –  ask for the wedding co-ordinator to be taken out of the contract, reduce  the price and HIRE YOUR OWN, to see if that helps. And put things like  “only clean linen/cutlery/crockery to be used” in the contract: believe us,  that kind of detail is at least your only guarantee of holding them to task  if they don’t deliver. Good luck.

Hi as a venue dresser I totally understand everything that you have said before. I even took photo's the other week of the very poor chair covers, dirty table cloths and napkins. This is one venue that I will not want to attend anymore as it is a disgrace and I know of other venue dressers that feel the same as they pinch your things as well so then we have to charge the bride. I just feel so sorry for anyone that is booking in with them and really wish I could get it in the paper about how disgusting is really is. Working in this industry I provide the highest quality of service, I love my brides and Grooms and I really hate the fact that people take advantage of others on their special day. I wouldn't even have given it 2 stars it deserves no stars!!! and thats from someone who dresses venues every week. x

Hi I would like to warn anyone off using this venue also!! I had such an awful time with them as soon as that contract is signed they don't give a damn about you once they have you tied in and money in their pockets from you. Myself and my husband booked our wedding with them for 2013 and had such a bad time with them that we walked away losing almost £2k deposit. They make up the prices eg: I was having my wedding there for 10k and I found out a friend of a friend got married there for 6k with more included in eg: dance floor, car, more in numbers. They promise you that certain things are all included in the price then when you get your contract they aren't written in and when you speak to them about it they put extra charges on top for them. When trying to negotiate with them they try and baffle you with numbers so you need to be able to get them to break down everything they are charging you for as they just seem to pluck number out of the air and group things together like room charge and hire of the bedrooms for the night, meals and evening snacks, drinks package, they never give you a price per head just a total. They change wedding planners like the wind, mustn't be able to keep the staff they hire for the job (not surprising! With all the hassle they have to put up with from people who have been promised the world for their special day then the reality turns out very different!) the place itself is at first look overwhelmingly beautiful but please don't be blinded by that you need to go back several times and look past it, the bridge over the pond is rotting so bad I'm surprised it's even safe to walk over you'd think they would give it a lick of paint at least to make people's photos look good! The historic dining room stinks of damp! Please turn up to view unexpectedly as they hide this with air freshners etc when they know you are coming. The centrepieces they offer you in he package are awful and broken/chipped and they just try to cover that up. I can't comment on the staff on the day or the food as I didn't get as far as actually having my wedding there as Their communication is absolutley awful I just couldn't carry on with it as I knew they would ruin the best day of my life so I walked away and took the hit on the money loss. Now if you want a perfect day carry on driving past DGH and onto Etrop Grange!! They were amazing!!! Couldn't of done anything more to please me they bent over backwards and I got my perfect wedding for half the price DGH tried to charge me with 20 more all day guests than I had been quoted for at DGH!

I got married at this venue a few years ago and frankly I am not surprised to see the problems are the same as they ever were! I know a number of couples have taken the owners to court (as did I)..... they ruined my wedding and a huge number of things went wrong on the day. I am lucky I have fab family and friends who rallied round and helped. The owners are rather arrogant and between them are destroying a beautiful venue.... the poor management is unnecessary and inexcusable. I wish you all the best in getting your situation sorted.

Hi, i got married here just a few weeks ago and have a MASSIVE amount to complain about. I am actually looking into legal aid to get compensation as they basically ruined our day - i won't go into detail i will just say whatever could have gone wrong did. It left us feeling like we had been done out of our perfect day... I was wondering if you took legal aid at all? I think this place should be shut down and i am not going to stop until i get something to make me feel a little better. Pity the only thing i want they can't give - my perfect wedding day :(
People - LOSE YOUR DEPOSITS. Walk away as it will be worth it in the long run sadly xx

Sorry to hear this. We were very lucky that a massive team of best men, their wives, our family and my bridesmaids just managed to pull everything together so the guests at least were, apart from waiting around, unaware of too much having gone wrong. We did not take legal aid after the event, mainly because after the stress they had given us already, we really did not want any more and simply wish that no-one else goes through anything similar. With their food hygiene rating as it is now, I don't see how they can do any in-house catering for the foreseeable future at least. Perhaps liaise with Evemma above, who sounds like she needs to see legal advice. I am very surprised that the local media have not caught wind of all this dissatisfaction.

I am a bride who is due to get married at Davenport Green Hall next year.
I would like to inform you I have spoken to the management at Davenport Green Hall with regards to the Licencing of Civil Ceremonies in the Marquee, I am told that the Marquee was licenced for a number of years by the Council. However, 3 out of the 4 function suites at Davenport Green Hall have been re-licenced,The Cheshire Barn, The Historic Room and The White Lounge, therefore Civil Ceremonies can continue and still are taking place in the licenced suites.
With regards to my situation I have liaised with the management team at D.G.H and together we have come to a resolution which everyone is happy with. I would also like to mention that in all my dealings, Davenport staff have been exceptionally professional and very helpful with all aspects of ensuring my wedding is everything it should be and both my groom and I are extremely happy with the outcome.

I am very pleased to hear that your experience has been a good one. I hope this is due to a change in DGH's approach in dealing with clients. However I think turning up to your own wedding and being told on the day that the civil ceremony cannot take place in the agreed place is beyond unacceptable. Bear in mind that no apology was given for this whatsoever.
Either the treatment of clients is very variable, or, as I hope, they have dramatically improved themselves so that their business continues. I hope everything runs smoothly and you have a beautiful wedding.

Also, if the management are treating you well and you have a good relationship with them, ensure that they address this issue on the Food Standard Agency's website, sooner rather than later if they are doing your catering (this information was not available even to us prior to our wedding)

We too have a wedding booked at DGH this year and are becoming very very concerned about all the very negative reviews. I am curious are you still having them provide the food as a zero rating is somewhat disturbing.!!!!!. Did the Management have anything to say about all the negative reviews or not.

Interested to see what the resolution is as we are looking to do the same with various aspects of our booking.

Our wedding was before the food rating reviews. So no idea what they would say about it. Regarding other negative reviews, we did confront them when we were booking and the owner dismissed them as jealousy of their success, chronic moaners and people wanting money back for nothing… why we believed that I do not know (I think I always knew it wasn't true but wanted the wedding to work out and be there so much that I blinded myself to it).

“Thank you for a perfect day!”

We got married at Davenport Green Hall in June 2013, and it was absolutely wonderful, we had a perfect day!! Everyone commented on how lovely the grounds were and the staff were incredibly helpful, they couldn't have done more on the day. Our wedding planner, was fantastic in the lead up to the wedding, and always answered queries promptly, and was great with suggestions when I was a bit bewildered about where to start with things. We can't thank everyone enough for making our day so special, it really was perfect, and our photos look amazing, there are so many lovely photo opportunities in the grounds!

“Our daughters 18th birthday party”

★★★★★

written by anne4565 on 02/05/2013

We held our daughters 18th birthday party here last week and over 130 guests had a wonderful time. Sarah (our contact at DGH) was an absolute diamond, nothing was too much trouble, and throughout the whole planning of the party, she kept in touch with us and made the planning and the run up to the party an absolute breeze. On the evening itself, everyone commented on what a lovely place it is, the staff were incredibly attentive and the room was wonderful. Thank you to you all at Davenport Green for making our daughters 18th a night to remember. We will be back!!

“Thank You for a Wonderful Day”

My partner and I were wedded at the Davenport Green Hall this March and we could not have wished for a more idyllic wedding day (except for better weather!!). This is a beautiful wedding venue with large picturesque gardens which look lovely in our photographs. The decor is extremely tasteful and the old architecture in the ceremony hall adds a certain traditional, rustic feel. The staff were excellent, right the way through the day from the champagne reception, the food service and throughout the evening they did everything they could to ensure that our every need or request was satisfied. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Davenport Green Hall on behalf of ourselves and all our guests. A wonderful time was had by all.

“Great Business Conference”

★★★★☆

written by SupplierConf on 07/02/2013

Our recent Supplier Conference held at Davenport Green Hall was a great success and thanks to all the team there. All the staff were very helpful as usual, made us and our suppliers very welcome and as ever put on really good refreshments and lunch. The event was well controlled and organised by the team and overall went really well. I would recommend Davenport Green Hall as a conference venue due to it's great convenient location, really nice surroundings and the attention and help we received from the team.

“Wonderful wedding day memories”

★★★★☆

written by Curlynicky on 28/01/2013

My husband and I got married on 18th August 2012 at Davenport Green Hall, it was a fantastic day and the venue offered us more than we could ever have hoped for in terms of a special setting to celebrate. we made use of the Cheshire Barn for the ceremony and then the White room for speeches and drinks with a BBQ on the terrace outside. Back to the barn for dancing in the evening. The grounds are beautifully kept and plenty of room for children to run off their energies in safety. DGH also helped me arrange a surprise arrival for my Husband to be by helicopter! The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful and accommodating on the day itself with last minute changes of plan, nothing was too much trouble for them. The quality of the food provided for the BBQ was excellent and there was plenty of it, no one went hungry! I would have no hesitation in recommending DGH as a perfect wedding or party venue,

“The perfect venue a wedding”

★★★★★

written by PaulRourke on 17/01/2013

The Davenport Green Hall venue in itself provides a perfect setting for the ceremony, the photographs and the reception. This can be said for a lot of venues, but what my wife and I, including all our guests said, that what sets this place apart from others is that the staff were the most respectful, attentive and friendly I have seen in most of my years (43). We arranged our wedding in just 3 weeks and were married on 12 January 2013. With the Christmas and New Year holidays upon us, this made the effort of the DGH staff all the more difficult. Sarah was outstanding in arranging everything helped by Nicola, even with late additions and table number changes. The service on the day was extraordinary and they could not do enough for us. The bar service was electric with no guests having to wait long for service and the DJ arranged by the venue asked plenty of questions in advance to ensure everyone enjoyed the night on the dance floor too (8 to 77 years). We chose the buffet service and it was so difficult to choose just 2 courses from the great menu offered, however, when delivered, I have no doubt, any of the choices would have been just as amazing. The location also makes it perfect, close to the airport, lots of hotels of various price ranges and the agreement with Etrop Grange, simple. However, the bridal suite was unbelievably perfect and the 3 other rooms provided assisted the 6 unexpected guests in our room that night when I ejected them at 2:30 am. All rounded off with a relaxing breakfast in our own time that morning. All up, I would recommend DGH to anyone who wishes to ensure a perfect wedding.

As a guest at the wedding, (who did not stay over) I enjoyed the atmosphere, the setting and the picture settings (shame they could not do anything about the freezing weather outside) but once back inside with a nice glass of champers we all soon thawed out.

Lovely friendly staff. Had a great relaxing day.

“amazing venue!”

written by mklalogan on 06/09/2012

I had my wedding reception here on the 3rd of August 2012. The venue was beautiful but it was the staff that made it truely special. They were, as can only be described, outstanding. Nothing was too much effort for them. They catered to my guests in a wonderful way, everyone commented on how well looked after they were. I have never seen detail to attention like it. I have been to many weddings but i have never witnessed such a dedicated and professional staff. They made it a wonderful day and i am so glad i chose to have my reception at DGH. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work. Mrs M Smith

“Fantastic wedding venue”

★★★★★

written by twoodwar on 27/08/2012

First of all I am writing this review not as a bride or groom but as a bridesmaid on my friends wedding day 25/08/12. Felt I had to write about our experience, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left which by the way the lovely owner gave us a lift back to our hotel in his rolls royce which was luxury. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent with plenty of friendly helpful staff. The barn was an excellent venue for the evening entertainment with lovely bar and music and the volume was perfect, perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you for making the bride and groom's ' best day of their lives ' in their words!
