Simonetta Wenkert. The Half-Known Life

Simonetta Wenkert draws her characters beautifully, they are believable and sympathetic. The structure of the novel is tightly bound together, a difficult feat as it deftly sweeps back and forth between three decades and three countries. Her observations are colourful and sharp with both humour and pathos. It is a pleasure to find such an engaging book that is easily accessible and intelligently written.
