“Poor customer service ”

Bought our caravan from the Retford Branchand everyone was lovely, had an issue with the toilet and the locker strutts needed replacing so took it back and and then went on holiday ( strutts still not replaced) had issues with the toilet again so we booked it in to have both repairs done. They had our caravan for 4 weeks and we’ve collected it today to be told the strutts have still not been replaced, going away tomorrow so we will see if the toilet issues have been fixed. Poor service, rude staff and terrible after sales , would not buy from this company again. They seem to be nice when you’re buying but after that forget it!!

“Poor aftersales, stinky attitude from Service Centre”

This company used to be top notch for Customer Service but since old staff members have left the replacements are not Customer focused at all. Terrible attitude almost to the point of being rude. We have had numerous issues with trying to sort out what should be simple issues with ordering parts and getting them fitted. Each area works as a separate department and there appears to be no communication between them. Therefore, one blames the other, Our caravan is now 5 years old and we will be looking for a new one soon but we will not be buying from them again!

“Avoid avoid, avoid, avoid”

Grantham caravans will take your money for your nice new or second hand shiny caravan but if you have a problem down the line good luck with there after sales department if there is one . I bought a brand new swift 2 years ago from them and ongoing problems are to many to mention but they won't return my calls for warranty work please avoid and spend a little more and try lowdham caravans!!!

“Great service, until they have your money!”

I bought a new caravan from them in 2017, the buying experience was great and we were well looked after, but after we'd got the van they couldn't care less. We realised after having had the new van for a couple of months that they hadn't paid off the finance on the van we traded in, when we rang to get it sorted we were promised a call back that never came. After chasing them again it was finally sorted out, but there was never any hint of an apology and we had to argue to get them to pay us back the £800 odd of payments we made on the finance for a caravan we didn't own. When we picked up the new caravan the owners manual was missing and we were promised that one would be sent in a few weeks, it's now 8 months later and it is still missing despite me regularly calling and emailing them all i get is promises of call backs that never happen.

You are entitled to be treated fairly, since it's clear you have not. I think you should get Trading Standards advice. You are protected under the 2015 Consumer Protection Law and since you made your request clear at the start Grantham Caravans should comply. Contact your local Trading Standards Officer for help and advice. Don't be put of if when you make the call you get put to an answer machine.They will get back to you. Good Luck hope you get things resolved.

“Poor Customer Service”

We bought our Lunar Solaris 544 caravan from Grantham Caravans in 2015 and were impressed by the competitive pricing and customer service offered by the sales team. What a shame that ethos is not followed by the service reception team. At first service in 2016 I reported faults with the cooker and water system. I was told these were fixed when I picked it up. Summer 2016 had further issues with these items, but as we don't use the caravan that much decided to leave it until next service. (We live 75 miles away.) 2017 service was booked in and the caravan delivered to Grantham on 6/6/17, and they were informed of the faults. We were due to spend a weekend in the caravan on 23-25/6/17 but didn't expect there to be any problem. I got a call on 8/6 to say a new thermocouple block would be ordered and I'd get a call when the caravan was ready. I rang again on 13/6 to see what the situation was and was told the part had been ordered but hadn't arrived yet. I said I was due to use the van but was told not to worry, the part was on 72 hour turn-round and wouldn't take long to fit. as the weekend approached I made several calls to Grantham Caravans. Sometimes I was able to leave an answerphone message, ther times I wasn't. Once I got a call back. I finally had to give up when informed that the part still hadn't arrived, but they would use a part ordered for another customer after me. I got a call to collect the van on 26/6/17. They also informed me that the floor was suffering from delamination so they would need it back for repair when Lunar approved the warranty claim. I collected the van on 27/6/17. I was very unhappy and asked if they were seriously going to charge me the full price of the service in view of what had gone on. Then I was referred to the 'Customer Service Manager' This lady was sarcastic and put all blame on Lunar and suppliers. She did not seem to accept the fact that I had been given wrong information by her staff, did not offer me any privacy. - Our discussion was conducted in a busy reception area. I felt she was extremely condescending in her manner, with comments like 'Thank you for telling me how to do my job', 'You are still not getting a discount.' The van was then pulled round for me. It was so filthy that I was unable to use my towing front cover as it would have caused damage but I took photos which will be sent to the MD of the company. When I got home and washed the van I also found slight damage to a side panel that wasn't there when I dropped it off.

Wow! I had similar confrontational attitudes from two people at Grantham, they really do need to send some of their staff on training courses especially geared to dealing with customer complaints fairly and effectively to ensure their return. Listening to customers valid complaints is key to their return, most customers just want to be reassured that they are being respectfully acknowledged. In your case I would have expected money off and a sincere apology. You have rights under the 2015 Consumer Protection Law use it. For advice contact your Local Trading Standards Officer. Leave a message on their answer machine they will get back to you. They were a great help and support to me.

“Not Happy”

Having just paid alot of money for a New Caravan - We are not at all happy with Grantham Caravans. 1. When we paid the deposit back in October 2014. We did not get a thank you for placing your order acknowledgement. 2. We were told when we were going to pick it up. We had to do all the telephone calling to get the CRIS number for insurance (three times never phone call returned). 3. On day of collection the Sales Person could not even be bother to come into work to deliver the Caravan to us (the story of why he was off kept changing). 4. We have to date (one month after delivery) never recevied a phone call or a thank you for buying acknowledgement. We will not be recommending Grantham Caravans at all.
