“excited to be there, let down with issues with video”

Written on: 30/08/2017 by barrythebolt (3 reviews written)

Great atmosphere and customer care and staffing on the day at the venue last Saturday. My 14 year old was so excited to drive a Lamborghini and to spend a moment in the Atom. We were treated well and promptly and the whole place ran well with clear understanding by all the team members and staff, who appeared to care and be engaged despite the very many people there. This is where the enjoyment ends - our recordings of the day were dreadful from the onboard camera and track circuit on the… Read Full Review

“Not allowed to change gear”

Written on: 07/05/2016 by Callicott (1 review written)

Just got baxk from castle Combe race track where i got to sit in a 300bhp Ariel atom. Got told to change up through the gears until in 6th gear at about 40mph.....not very accelerating :-( The instructor told me not to change gear at all as it had enough power. Frankly i found this very boring and not what i would call "driving" the car. At one point i went to feather the accelerator coming out of a corner in a nice line with no issues and noticed he was squeezing the second brake pedal he had… Read Full Review

“COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER!!!”

Written on: 14/03/2016 by Aracelyq133 (1 review written)

Castle Combe 11/3/16 The reception staff have very poor communication skills and we were not made to feel very welcome, then it came to the bullying tactics to try and get you to part with £25 for collision damage waiver, my daughter who had this as a gift was told she was foolish, and did she know how much a Lambo mirror cost? My son in law got the same hard sell. The Instructors in the cars however could not have been nicer and driving the cars was ok if not too short a time and due to so… Read Full Review

““Defiantly not an impeccably organised experience”

Written on: 18/05/2015 by Gloversm17 (1 review written)

Unfortunately I have had to write a second review due to the response received from a guy on trip advisor and some inaccurate information. I will not respond to any further comments made they clearly do not acknowledge that there can be problems with an event and seem unable to cope with any negative feedback the company receives. They are also selective in the points they pick up and respond to. On a positive note if you can cope with the disorganisation it is a great way to get behind the… Read Full Review

“Passenger experience Austin Martin V8 Vantage”

Written on: 11/05/2015 by nkVance98 (1 review written)

Liked the experience in the Austin Martin V8 but was really disappointed with the photo selection afterwards, it states that it was 6-8 photographs on each car we had 4.The 2 photos of getting into the V8 passenger seat came out like you was getting into a bubblecar and the 2 pictures of the coming out of a corner was very hard to see who was in the passenger seat. When we complained to one of the staff the excuse was it was a fish eye lens but when you look at other photos of drivers they… Read Full Review

“Lambo”

Written on: 07/03/2015 by qnFlanagan304 (1 review written)

When I got into the Lamborghini every was good, until i was instructed to change gear really early which did not let me enjoy the full experience of the cars power. 3rd gear was crunching a lot. I did not enjoy the young lad telling me how to drive even tho I had been driving longer than the kid next to me. also when I accelerated past 80mph he kept saying change up a gear then said slow down but he slowed the car down for me which i thought was bad customer service… Read Full Review

“Extra Charges on the Day - Rip Off”

Written on: 02/12/2014 by neUnderwood234 (1 review written)

We bought the R8 experience for our son as a Birthday Gift. As we live close to the track, getting there and getting booked in was easy although the queue of people was a little off-putting. Worst of all - my son got to the booking in desk and was getting pressure sales to pay £25 to cover possible damage to the car! You are having a laugh! 'Here's your birthday gift son and by the way, you now need to pay £25' The £25 is not refundable should you manage to go around a race track for 15… Read Full Review

“Not value for money”

Written on: 17/11/2014 by Birdie1972 (1 review written)

My Dad paid £125 for a 15 minute Truck Experience. We live a 45 - 50 minute drive from the venue and arrived nice and early for her time slot. We were expecting a 10 min briefing, and 15 minute experience. My Mum is a 64 year old professional but only every driven small cars. When we arrived the booking in was simple. The weather wasnt great and we were out doors pending our slot (rather cold, as we came unprepared as were we unaware of the settings).. Mum got called quicker than her… Read Full Review

“Poorly organised. Longcross proving ground disappointing.”

Written on: 04/10/2014 by Donalds469 (1 review written)

VERY busy on arrival (Saturday) for experience. When signing on, I chose not to take excess premium insurance ~ if looks could kill !! It was not even the smiliest of welcomes up to then. And then the long wait for the demonstration lap ... followed by an even longer wait for the real drive. They just called out the names of the drivers they wanted. No hint or clue as to who might be up next, if you were in the next 5 or 10 or 15 drivers? Hopeless. Drive itself (Lamborghini) was fun BUT ... you… Read Full Review

“Ariel Atom gig certainly not a Clarkson Experience”

Written on: 16/06/2014 by alvisprizzlee (1 review written)

Signed in did'nt expect a major sell job on insurance waiver. Pretty Girl banging on about cone and mirror damage. £3+ per minute .Huge Rip off .Did'nt get a decent drive of the car because of all the Cones calming the track, hence the cone insurance. Over in a flash ,a complete waste of money .Go Karting instead on a good track ,a much bigger thrill . Did'nt see one car driven in anger, only the Boss man hot lap driving in a Yellow track car. Plus point was the fanatastic organisation . Well… Read Full Review

“My kids had bought me a voucher for Christmas which I...”

Written on: 28/03/2011

My kids had bought me a voucher for Christmas which I used to drive an Aerial Atom at Longcross on 27th March 2011.
I think I found the drive in my Volvo around the M25 getting there somewhat more exciting than the Atom.
Most of the circuit was limited to 40mph, the car was limited to 4th and 5th gears, and when there was a straight there was either a chicane or a slower car in the way. However, none of the staights was very long in any event.
As for the £25 extra that you're encouraged to pay… Read Full Review

“I attended the 6th gear experience at Longcross,...”

Written on: 28/03/2011 by sly4000 (1 review written)

I attended the 6th gear experience at Longcross, Surrey and it was very well organised. But don't be fooled into thinking you will be driving fast. There is a 70 mile an hour speed limit and on the demo lap this was mentioned numerous times. I drove and Aston Martin and was not allowed more than 70. The other disappointment is their constant drive to make more money from you. The pictures are controlled by them and are very expensive. They make lots of effort to stop you taking your own… Read Full Review

“The staff were all very friendly and the facilities...”

Written on: 06/03/2011

The staff were all very friendly and the facilities were good, also the cars were new and in really good shape.
Now for the negatives, it seemed that the whole time you were there the staff were trying to sell you more add ons, for example 2 people in my party paid £95 each for a 2gb memory stick with the video of the drive on it, 1 picture, a photo cd and the £25 insurance waver.
Now the drive, track to small to pick up any speed above 90mph, other cars infront stopping you accelerating, i am… Read Full Review

“6th Gear experience was very good on timings and help...”

Written on: 06/03/2011

6th Gear experience was very good on timings and help from officals. Something i was upset with was the fact i paid an extra £95 on the day for other bits, which i believe should be all inclusive.
As for the car itself it was very powerful and nice to drive, but for what you are told, you DO NOT get the expirience of the car. Such as when you are on the straight you reach no where near 145MPH and you do not get to high rev counts as you are told to change gear way to early, also the fact… Read Full Review

Written on: 19/11/2010

very poor track which has only 2 places were you can use any speed and theres no way your going to be doing 145mph as one review suggests my best speed was around 90mph and that was very briefly seen, most of the time your driving at 50 max! from getting in the demo drive to me leaving the site was 22minutes, value for money a definate no no theres only one winner there and thats the tills! wont recommend and suggest you spend your money at brands hatch where they know how to do things… Read Full Review

“Overall, a disappointing day. My car had broken down...”

Written on: 28/09/2010

Overall, a disappointing day. My car had broken down so I was upgraded to a DB9, fine. The staff are all very professional and courteous but this is essentially a squeeze-the-money out of the punter event. Insurance at £25 (dare you not take it where you have to pay the first £2000 of any scrape - and any scrape in one of these cars is going to cost at least that) plus all the other "up-sell" bolt-ons means that this can be a very expensive day with little to take away except the… Read Full Review

“We were in Warwickshire during June 2010 and a month...”

Written on: 22/06/2010

We were in Warwickshire during June 2010 and a month before that at Rockingham Speedway. I'm comparing now the 2 experiences. At Rockingham everything was professional[track, instructors, health&safety, staff, cars, etc.] and even family, friends could enjoy a day out as they can follow your driving.
At the track in Warwickshire your family can't see anything from your experience. The staff and the cars are really nice but that's all about it. Even the driving instructors told me to take this turn… Read Full Review
