Travelled out for the last week of the season to skiathos and the filokalia apts in Achalides. Knew roughly where they were from a previuos holiday to skiathos town. However never expected them to be as good as they are when they are only a 2 star +.The apartments are about a 1/4 mile from the main road up a gradual but not steep hill (5 mins walk) The studios are a good size for 2 people and the setting is really nice on a wooded hillside. As it is a hill the views vary but if you are at the top you get great views but have a steep drive to climb. If you get a 1 bedroom apt they are good too. Theres a small pool with loungers and a good bar area. The complex is run by Shelina who's good with names (ask Janice) and she does everything she can to make your holiday experience memorable. She cooks a nice breakfast and does a decent omelette. Handy for bus stop 10 and there are supermarkets and a bakery just by the bus stop. Achalides beach is an extra 5 minutes away and water taxis go from there to Skiathos town. However due to it being the last week of the season supermarkets had very little to offer and started to close thro' the week and the water taxis had packed up before we arrived which was a dissapointment. The only negs are the pool looked like it needed a clean and little bit of maintenance was needed on our room, nothing major and as its the end of the season probably fair ware and tare. I would recommend these to anyone and certainly go back if returng to Skiathos.i

It is really friendly, quiet and clean and the food, although fairly simple, is great. Although it is on a hill it is quite a gently sloping one so the walk to it is not too strenuous.
It is within 10-15 minutes walk of a great beach, Achladies, and the bar and available restaurants are lovely. The bus into town is okay but gets really busy, the water taxi from Achladies Beach is very much better and a lovely way to get to Skiathos Town which is absolutely beautiful. All the beaches that we visited during our 2 weeks stay were lovely although some of them can be a bit hard to get too if you have walking difficulties.
The bus service stops at all the main beaches and is very easy to use at a reasonable price. You really do not need to hire a car when you stay in Skiathos. We are not normally 'beach' people but we had a really great and relaxing holiday in Skiathos and will definitely be returning to the Filokalia Apartments. Go there and enjoy. A two week stay will leave you feeling absolutely great and you will not want to leave.
