“ASDA TRANSFER TO EE DISASTER”

★★☆☆☆

written by London317 on 16/04/2014

I READ A PREVIOUS REVUE, THAT SOMEONE HAD BEEN WAITING A WEEK FOR SIM TRANSFER ..... " I WAITED 7 WEEKS .... YES YOU READ RIGHT 7 WEEKS. I MUST HAVE RANG THEM ON THE LANDLINE AT LEAST 18 TIMES, ONLY TO BE TOLD IN A ROUND ABOUT WAY, THEY'DE SCREWED UP AND LOST MY PAC CODE IT WAS IN LIMBO, THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT ON THEIR SYSTEM, NOT DID T MOBILE THE PREVIOUS PROVIDERS BECAUSE EE HAD APPLIED FOR IT .... ABSOLUTE FLAMING NIGHTMARE, NEVER GOT THIS PROBLEM WITH T MOBILE. I MIGRATED TO ASDA T MOBILE FROM ORANGE, AND WAS UP AND RUNNING WITHIN 2 HOURS .... TONIGHT TRIED TO CONTACT 2732 TO CHECK MY BALANCE, ABSOLUTE ZIP, NO ANNOUNCEMENT, NO ONE TO SPEAK TO, JUST SILENCE ... ASDA YOU'VE DROPPED A MAJOR CLANGER, AND USLESS YOU GET YOUR BACKSIDE IN GEAR, I'LL BE MOVING PRONTO ... ATTRACTIVE PRICES ARE ONE THING, BUT AS MUCH USE AS A CHOCOLATE FIREGUARD IF THE SERVICE IS NEITHER USE, NOR ORNAMENT.

“Slow and incomplete service”

★★☆☆☆

written by pjollop on 09/04/2014

It took a while to get the sim card sent in the first place, and once inserted and the number ported over I find that I cannot text any 4 or 5 digit text numbers so I can't enter competition, respond to marketing texts, donate to charities or report spam texts to 7726 as suggested by the information commissioner. The helpline staff at asda don't seem to know why and the problem is not dealt with in the FAQs on the website. The only thing to be said for the service is the price and I suppose you get what you pay for (not much)

“New EE sim card problems”

★★☆☆☆

written by Bluebottle71 on 16/12/2013

Got my new sim last week and everything worked fine. Then on Saturday, I couldn't make outgoing calls or send texts. Tried customer services, but gave up after 30 minutes on hold. Tried my old ASDA sim in another phone and it still worked. Rang the old ASDA mobile customer services and was told to try the EE customer number at 8am when they opened. Today I actually got through after only 5 minutes on hold. Turns out that the problems are due to my old number being transferred over. This can cause problems such as not being able to receive texts or make calls. I was told that it should be sorted within 48 hrs. If this is the problem then surely it should be mentioned on the FAQ section of the website in the number transfer section. I was happy with the service I got today but find that the total lack of info on the website and the problems I and many others have had getting through to customer services totally unacceptable. Hopefully I will get normal service back in a day or two. If not then I will be switching to someone else.

Hi
I put the new sim in three weeks ago. did all the stuff was told to do. Made up that i got the free bundle. text the number to transfer to my old number ,that is when it all went wrong .could not receive text or calls and make calls. Contacted customer services on the 0845 number took 5 mins or so to get thro then was put on hold whilst she went to investigate. Told me it would be a matter of priority and would be sorted asap. Not so rand again and got cut off after being told that my number had been ported over and was working ,No it wasn't.Emailed them and they replied the following das saying that the porting over was completed. I replied in several emails % in total and still not had a reply. I asked them to ring me on my landline no but nothing . I have since been and bought another sim and am using this but have lost all the bonus offer . i have given up trying to get this sorted what a nightmare..

Tried my phone yesterday again, but still the same. However, this morning it is working and is registering my old number, so looks like it's sorted.

“ASDA top up card discontinued”

★★☆☆☆

written by Dell_Optiplex on 04/11/2012

I recently purchased an ASDA/Vodafone PAYG SIM for an elderly lady who was unable to get a Tesco/O2 signal at her new address. Although the ASDA website still claims that customers can top up at 85,000 locations, I subsequently discovered that top up cards are no longer available. For customers who are either unwilling or unable to use their debit/credit cards, the only option is to purchase a top up voucher at an ASDA store - for this elderly lady, it is 7 miles away.

We do not have an Asda store closer than 22 miles. We top up at either the Post office or our local Waitrose shop.

Just try to get customer services, long ques, and then they hang up.
I had a number barred because phone lost.
Phone found.
It's still barred 10 days after requesting a re-enable, and many phone calls to customer service.

I lost a phone recently and asked the ASDA team to lock my sim. Bought a new sim and a phone. Got the number unlocked and transferred to my new sim card along with the credit. No hassle at all. I've phone ASDA's call centre often enough now to say that they have been consistently quick to answer, understand English and are always helpful. I wouldn't want to go back to Orange, who charged much more, whose call centre kept me hanging on the line for 30 minutes and who took money to unlock a handset then didn't do it despite numerous vexing phone calls.

I really don't know what is happening to all the annoyed people on this review site but please keep it up because I wouldn't want too many people discovering how good ASDA are!

Altough the ASDA pay as you go is cheap to call out it is more expensive for friends when friends call you.

Since ASDA uses Vodafone's network I suspect anyone calling an ASDA phone is incurring the same charge as someone calling a Vodafone phone. Of course, the fault lies with the networks to which the callers belong, O2, Orange etc.

“I got an Asda mobile sim about 6 months ago, and after...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 13/12/2009

I got an Asda mobile sim about 6 months ago, and after being with orange for ages was amazed how cheap asda was, as well as the great signal I had everywhere. However, over the past few weeks I realised that I wasn't receiving a considerable number of texts (and who knows what else), especially from numbers I don't have regular contact with, very frustrating...having had this doubt I've decided to change network and pay a little bit more knowing that I will be contactable. After all it's the most basic function of a phone operator to actually receive your calls and messages.

I have been trying for nearly six weeks to get two new top up cards for our phones. They have been ordered three times. I still haven't received them. We are all set up with EE and our numbers sorted. We can't use our phones because we have no top up cards to put money on phones. What should I do?

Thanks for answering this question.

Isn't it possible to collect a card in one of their supermarkets? If not I would complain to the manager in the store, then hopefully have him give you one from one of the sim card packs (if they have them). The asda mobile has been pathetic since they've moved to EE.

You can top up by debit or credit card by calloing EE on 150. You can also set up an account via the web; go to the EE site, register via 'My Account' then register a debit or credit card to use for your top-ups.

Sorry - please ignore my last answer about registering with EE; I forgot the question was about Asda Mobile with EE (I now have an EE account following my disagreements with Asda mobile). To top up an Asda mobile by phone, call 2732 from the phone to register a credit or debit card to use for top-ups.

Why is asda mobile customer services so useless? Why do they lie to you day after day? Why do they not answer your e-mails? How can they be allowed to charge premium rate for the helpline, then keep you on hold for 20-40 minutes?

Thanks for answering this question.

When I was trying to get my phone to work with the asda mobile ee changeover it took nearly 2 months to get where I am now. At one point I tried for nearly 2 weeks to get through to asda customer service, even emails were ignored, then I was given different information from asda staff, different downloads to get my phone to work, even tried asda head office in London to complain but that fell on deaf ears.all this costing me in phone calls. One of the customer service staff told me there was only 20 staff working there, and she, who was a technical advisor had only been trained for 3 months at EE, on my final call I was told my phone was outdated and to try replacing it. Asda mobile worked fine on Vodaphone, but I was told Vodaphone were in serious breach of contract with asda, thats why they were changing.I am still considering changing to another provider, asda mobile is very amateurish, I would'nt be suprised to see this on BBC watchdog.

I went into the local ASDA supermarket, complained & was then allowed to use their landline to call the helpdesk. Let them pay for that service.
