Good Pedal, Depends Upon The Sound That Your Looking
All around, very decent pedal suitable for most any genre of music. Goes well before an Overdrive pedal has been my experience. There is some tone sucking, as the sound thins out the warmth of a tube amp. This can be compensated by a TS-9 or your favorite OD pedal or a line driver/boost. The latter you can put on the very front end of the pedal chain at unity gain or a little more and this unit by Dunlop/CAE (Custom Audio Electronics by Bradshaw, pedal guru in the ranks of Pete Cornish).
The Vox 847 (no adapter, just batteries), the NOS (New Old Stock) vintage is a screamer. The 847A (A is for adaptor) is not endowed with vintage, analog sound. The 847 is a screamer ala Hendrix style with an overdrive-like effect when using the finger touch or pick attack/dynamics. It has have an overdrive-like effect, and will sing all on it own. Practicing this unit is essential as it analog hot, all by itself. Hendrix/SRV/numerous artists used and continue to use this pedal.
No need to find an old one. Make it a practice when you shut down your pedal board to unplug the instrument as this will completely run down you battery.

Well After All It Is The Original Dunlop Crybaby W
Well after all it is the original Dunlop CryBaby Wah, so it's bound to be good for them to keep making it. Great solid construction and sound.I bought a cheaper Wah fist to save money (a Ruby Tubes one), but that broke on stage the first time I used it, so I decided to just buy a proper CryBaby rather than a copy. Great decision, would recommend to anyone.
