The Royal Day Spa
I joined this club when it first opened and it was truly wonderful. I worked over the road at the BBC and could just pop over for a swim, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, and some relaxation over some mint tea whenever I felt the need. It was clean, the staff friendly and the showers better than we had at home. I moved abroad and missed this spa so much we had to build a heated swimming pool of our own! I'm very sorry to hear it has closed down, but I heard it had changed management, so maybe there's the answer.. The owner when I was there was an astute, clever, intelligent (and lovely) business woman.

Do They Actually Exist?
We booked through Travelzoo for Mum's 60th birthday present in June. We booked the offer in December last year as it seemed like a great deal. Over £200 worth of treatment for £49 each!
The day before we was due to go, i received a phonecall from the spa saying they had to cancel our treatments due to 'plumbing' problems. they wanted me to rebook. i called them and was told that the next availale vacany was November! Basically after waiting 6 months for the treatment, we had to wait another 5 months. We had been put to the back of the queue for a problem what wasn't our fault.
i said that this was unacceptable and they said to email their 'General Manager' for a refund. so i did and requested a 'read' reecipt.
A week went by with nothing. Eventually i recieved a receipt but no reply to my email.
I tried emailing them again 2 months later, but nothing happened again. so i tried calling them.
Can you believe it! An answerphone message saying they had closed the spa due to flooding again and would be closed for a while!
I would never recommend this so called 'spa' to anyone. Disgusting customer service and i think after reading all the previous reviews regarding hygiene etc, they should be closed down or be shown on Watchdog!
I have resulted in doing a chargeback on my credit card and an still waiting for the refund.
its in liquidation-literally

Good Value 5 Hours For £10 Voucher.
We nearly did not go for our booked spa day as we read such terrible revues. We are a fussy mother and daughter but found the staff helpful and friendly, the spa was clean and the gowns well laundered. The spa was busy but not overcrowded. We enjoyed the pool and sauna and finished with a delicious refreshing tea before returning home tired but happy.
There is a problem with very slippery wet floors and non-slip flipflops are a must. There should be a rail for the steps into the pool for us oldies and a few more chairs around the pool for relaxing. Otherwise all fine.

Worst Day Ever 24/05/2011
My Spa day was paid for by my family as a special birthday treat, HOW WRONG WERE THEIR AND MY EXPECTATIONS.
Difficult to find as only a very small plaque in doorway.
Took less than 2 minutes to be shown around as basically not much to be shown around.
The yoga class had been cancelled months ago and I was not told.
The mud jaquzzi was not working, I had been looking forward to this and yoga.
The floor was so slippery myself and my guest slipped many manY times, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
The pool was too crowded to swim and had a horrible smell to it.
The steam room ok if you wanted to sit on someone elses lap as so small. As for the 'body mask' you can only put this on arms and legs as you have to keep on your swimwear, the Crystal Mist Steam room is just the extra tiny steam room by the pool, yes there was steam, which is the only true part of any of the descriptions given in the literature of the spa day.
We could not get into the bedroom/quiet area for free refreshments as the door handle came off in my hand.
Complementary champagne must still be being made as this was nowhere to be seen.
The place is dirty and smelly.
The changing rooms are an absolute joke, they are so tiny that there is nowhere to put your dry clothes when changing, would be ok if only one or two people at a time allowed in. Had to leave with wet hair as could not move to get to the hairdryers.
My special birthday treat was for 5 dreamy hours, well me and my guest were out of the nightmare experience in 1hour and 15 minutes.
I complained at the reception desk, one young lady tried hard to be sympathetic others appeared to treat it as normal.
I have sent 2 emails to complain and they have not even acknowledged either.
I WOULD NOT recommend this spa to my worst enemy. I live in hope of getting my families money back.

How About A Personal Trainer Who Spends His Time T
How about a personal trainer who spends his time telling you about the fights he has been in at the weekend.
Need I say more?
OK, well how about reception staff who don't even look up, a manager who does not return calls, booking spa treatments only to find out last minute they have been canceled or you can only have half the treatment you booked in for two weeks in advance.
And then there is the dirt on the floor, filth in the toilets, floating things in the jacuzzi.
Not to mention the cancelation of classes which were the only reason my fiancee and I signed up in the first place. £140 pcm each for a year. Only a few months to go. If the manager ever calls me back I might be able to cancel early.
This place is the pits.

There Are So Many Negative Reviews On Here But I A
There are so many negative reviews on here but I actually really enjoyed my experience, maybe we went on a less busy day! We too have a lastminute voucher and my husband and I loved the pool, spa, sauna, steam room and relaxation area.
It wasnt all perfect, as his treatment was forgotten but they sorted this quickly. They also didnt have a record of our booking, that we had to make several weeks in advance (after they hadnt called us back the first two occasions) but everything else was really lovely.
I think they need to be more organised. Otherwise it was clean and a great experience.
For the voucher deal £90 for two people, including one treatment, I thought it was good value but needed better organisation.

Don't Bother Wasting Your Money. We Bought The Vou
Don't bother wasting your money. We bought the vouchers from lastminute.com so at least it was cheap in comparison to paying the full price after all you will get the same poor quality and standard whatever you pay!
The Spa looks nothing like the pictures on the website all very misleading. Its small, cramped, ill designed, grubby and dangerous underfoot. Flip flops are a necessity. Changing rooms are dirty, under equiped and very cramped. Staff try their best but under the conditions and with so many complaints throughout the day it must be difficult.

On Arrival We Were Told To Get Our Flip Flops, The
On arrival we were told to get our flip flops, they were all massive so we went bare foot. We had a brief show around and asked to order lunch. It has to be pre-ordered so we would have had no food all day!Had to go out and purchase. The relaxation room was crowded and no opportunity to relax. Around the pool were 2 smelly bean bags 7 deckchairs and benches, again no opportunity to relax. We booked treatment at same time and they forgot one of us, and when we told them they told us to go to reception and sort it!Treatments were lovely but would never go back
