I Think The Lay-z-spa Xl Deluxe Is Cheap To Buy, E

I think the Lay-Z-Spa XL Deluxe is cheap to buy, Easy to set up. Great fun and relaxing for all the family. (I love it!)

Needs some chemical maintenance which I think could be tricky if you don't know about it. Although this would be true of any home spa. It's worth the effort. My liner was easily damaged - I damaged mine by being silly and dragging it through a doorway unaided when not completely deflated.

Despite what I said above about it being damaged, the spa stood up really well to my children and mad friends. I love it and fully recommend it to anyone who would love a hot tub but doesn't have too much money to spend.

I found this review not helpful because...I own one (since 8/09) and there was nothing good about it after a year. I have had problems with it for so long. I have learned how to fix the problem with the heater going out, but it goes out almost once a month and to fix it you have to take the pump apart, if it isn't due to the fact that air bubbles from the bubble action has blocked water flow into the switch (in that case you have to stick your thumb into the flow hole while the pump flow is on, in hopes that the pressure will dislodge the air bubble) otherwise you have to disassemble the pump, remove the heater switch and clean any microscopic debris that may have blocked water flow to the heater with a cotton swab. The cover is deteriorating and pieces of it are constantly either floating in the water or settled at the bottom. the elastic straps that hold the clips for the cover have all broken. The water flow is not strong enough to actually filter the water. It needs constant water changes, as body hair and any other debris that may have made it's way into the spa will settle in the ring creases at the bottom and under the air tube (which lays flat when not in use and becomes full of 'stuff')I change the water in mine every week I still get grossed out when I open the cover and see a glob of hair at the bottom...That's a lot of water and time wasted. It takes DAYS for the water to get up to temp, so if you are planning to have people over, make sure you turn the heater up at least a day in advance...not minutes, not hours, but days.Of course depending on where you live and the actual surrounding temperature. It only goes up a degree an hour. So using it in the summer when it is 90 out may only take 11 hours to get it to 101. You are advised by the manufacturer NOT to use it or set it up if the surrounding temperature is 40 or below...so forget about those romantic winter night hot tub plans. The ONLY way to clean it is to empty it and wash it with a sponge and mild soap. This can be accomplished by propping it up on it's side and carefully rolling it to make sure that all the build up that is trapped under the airflow tube and rubber flap just below it, is removed. Then thoroughly rinse and empty, rinse and empty, rinse and empty... So put an entire day aside for this as emptying, washing, rinsing, then refilling it takes many hours. Then you have to wait 24 hrs for the water to heat up for use. Don't waist your money. It's only good for about a year.

I have had no problems with the pump or the heater. Sometimes the unit fails to heat the water if the filter is needing cleaned or replaced. In general, if you keep on top of the chemicals and replace the filter regularly, there should be no problems.

What I would say if you are thinking of buying one is be very careful with the grey liner. I am now on my 2nd lazy spa because I damaged the liner of the first one when taking the spa down to put it away for the winter. Unfortunately it was out of the warranty period for the liner, and the damage was my fault anyway. I still love my lay z spa and actually managed to get the original one to stay up long enough to have a hot tub party with 2 lay z spas! Wicked :o)

Have you had any problems with the pump/heater at all?
